“Loved this hotel and wanted to stay longer!”
Reviewed June 6, 2011

We are Americans living a couple of hours drive from Antalya. For our anniversary we decided to spend the weekend in the city. What a wonderful decision it was to stay in this small, well located hotel.

Our first impression of the hotel was that it is clean and everything looked perfect. I don't know what else to say, except that it was immaculate and manicured. A lot of attention was given to detail, and that is difficult to do with an old building.

With only nine rooms, the staff gave us personal attention as well. Although the temperature outside was 95 F/35 C while we were there, our room was cold. The hotel provided extra blankets for us because we didn't want to turn the a/c off. The shower was excellent, our view of the pool was nice, and everything in the hotel was CLEAN and in its place!

Breakfast was something to look forward to. We ate next to the pool and enjoyed the homemade jams and fruit spreads (you won't find anything this good in a store) made by the owner's mother. Breakfast was all Turkish; boiled eggs, toast, olives, tomatoes, cheese, coffee, etc. However, if you wanted something else, for example a poached egg, they provided it. The food was excellent and listening to Norah Jones at breakfast was a bonus.

Noise in the room was bearable. The hotel is in the middle of the Old Town, so there is music playing into the night. I could hear the thump of a bass through the wall, but my wife didn't hear it at all. She is a very light sleeper and didn't have a bit of trouble falling and staying asleep. We both did.

We really enjoyed meeting the owner and spending time in the courtyard our last evening there talking and listening to soft relaxing music.

We stayed two nights and hated to leave. Loved it and can't wait to go back!

We were searching for a hotel for two night in the old town of Antalya. Near the old Harbor. The Alp Pasa was on our focus but was full. After all we were glad the Alp Pasa was full because we stayed two night at the Kaucuk. The Kaucuk is a small boutige hotel in a “Konan” house (Old Ottoman house). They have limited numbers of rooms but we like it that way. The Alp Pasa is more crowded.
The room, the courtyard and the people were all wonderful. Breakfast was very good. Nearby there is a small beach which costs 5 Turkish lira to enter.
Only thing was that is was very warm while sleeping, even the airco was on.

The staff was excellent.

Spending an extended stay at Kaucuk is one of the better ideas I've ever had. The room, the courtyard, the food and the people were all wonderful. Reading and lounging in the courtyard with Turkish tea or a glass of white wine, cold water or an Efes pilsner was heavenly.

We'd take dips in the pool and hop out to try the latest, most delicious produce this region of Turkey produces - and the meals were FANTASTIC! The spread at breakfast is something to behold and I would encourage you to arrange to have some meals there as well if the owner is in. She makes the most fresh and wonderful dishes. I really enjoyed everything I ate there.

When my family made me leave the cozy confines of our room and courtyard - it didn't hurt that we were 2 or 3 blocks from a most lovely private beach. Cheap to enter ($6 US Dollars?) you could stay all day, even come and go as you please. The water and views at the beach are magnificent - and while it was sometimes sad to leave the sea, it was always comforting to know that I was going back to Kaucuk!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Kaucuk- the setting is gorgeous, staff is fantastic and so very helpful, breakfasts are delicious, location is great. Would recommend it to a a group of family and /or friends - a base for relaxing, boating, swimming , and exploring on day trips in this culturally rich region of Turkey.

This hotel has a lot of very good points. It is in an old Ottoman house which has been thoughtfully and beautifully renovated. Rooms and common areas are top rate. There is also a beautiful courtyard and pool. The turkish breakfast offering is superb (think tea, fruit, wonderful range of cheeses, eggs, fresh pastries and jams, etc) and served in the courtyard. Staff are friendly and competent. We had an extremely early flight out of Antalya and the staff insisted on getting up while it was still dark to make us breakfast. The location is excellent. The ONLY negative point is that the room we had faced onto the street and was noisy well into the wee hours of the morning due to vendors and passers by. Its a shame because we would like to be unequivocally supportive of what the owners have done with this hotel and at the end of the day we still left feeling very positive about our stay (hence the very good rating). Suspect some double glazed glass on the rooms facing the street should do the trick. Until then ask to book a room that faces onto the interior courtyard and your stay will be flawless.

My husband and I stayed here in May. It is an ordinary hotel in a perfect location, but our room was intolerably warm, even though the outside temp. was not so high. Having the A/C on high 24/7 didn't help. Opening the only window and turning off the A/C didn't help either. The linens didn't fit the mattress and the bathroom sink faucet produced only a thin spray of water (hot, cold, or warm). In the end we decided to put up with all of this because of the location and the inconvenience of moving, but we won't be staying there again. The Kaucuk is far too pricey for what it offers.
