“Really good hotel with lots to offer”
Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at beach club doganay for around 8 days in May 2013 as a family of 4 and we had an excellent time. On first arrival, after a 2.5 transfer from Antalya airport, we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and before we knew it our all inclusive bands were strapped around our wrists, the timetable quickly explained and then our bags were quickly transported to our room. We were meant to be booked into a 'sea view' room, but unfortunately we were far from the view of the sea pretty much opposite another building, which became the view. Not ideal, but we didn't complain as we were not planning on spending much time in the room. The room we thought was quite small, but practical. At around 7pm we made our way to the terrace restaurant and I can safely say that we were extremely pleased and surprised by the large selection of food on offer. However, as our holiday went on we found the food to be pretty repetitive but on the same token it was all freshly prepared and to a high standard.

The restaurant waiters / chefs etc we thought were not very engaging with guests, but again I don't blame them as the majority of guests were Russians who were generally pretty rude and quite wasteful with their food. We thought breakfast was probably the least animated and exciting of all the meals and the selection wasn't great unfortunately. After dinner you can grab a tea, coffee or further drinks from the tea house or lobby bar until the evening show starts. The animation team - a group of boys & girls (made up of Turks & Georgians) put on a show for everyone at around 9.30pm for an hour, which we found to be ok but not amazing...our kids enjoyed it though and a lot of it is slap stick comedy, but nothing too innovative. Saying that, the animation team were a great bunch of lovely young men and women who worked very hard for the guests. The were by the pools from 10am and will continue right through to 11pm... Incredible as they're always enthusiastic and always carry a smile on their faces - they were great. However, as others have commented they do like to keep guests engaged and they will work hard to get you to participate in activities. This is fine, but at times they won't take no for an answer. It's fine though and you can politely ask them to allow you to relax and rest. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be returning to this great hotel!!!

Thank you for your review of our hotel.
All of our rooms are side sea view unless you have a family room and they are at the front of the buildıng with a full view of the sea.
İts disapointing you wasnt impressed with our breakfast as we offer a wide variety of foods at breakfast including Fried eggs, omlettes, cereals, cooked meats(no pork), boiled eggs, pancakes, breads, jam, honey, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, fried bread, cheeses etc if you have any ideas for us about which foods you wish to see at breakfast please do not hesitate to email me as we are consistantly trying to make our hotel better.
We are extremely glad you enjoyed your stay here and will take on board what you say about the food being repetitive.
Agaın thank you for your review.

This is a nice 5 star hotel... but be aware that here will be a lot of russians and east europeans.
The hotel is realy clean and the staff is taking care of their job as they should. They have a big beach, clean and sandy.
I can recomend like 5 * basic.

Arrived at hotel at about 3:30 am and were quickly and efficiently checked in. The night manager was at reception and offered us food, both soup and/or all night breakfast, as well as drinks if we wanted them. It was only later I realised that ‘drinks’ included alcoholic drinks from the 24 hour bar. We just wanted a bed by that time, so declined any refreshments. Our luggage was taken to our room by member of staff, who set up the air-con for us before leaving us to grab some sleep.
Missed breakfast that morning, but late breakfast (10:00 – 11:00) was better that either of us expected. We soon realised that the standard of food on offer at the Doganay was among the best we have encountered. Always something on offer and it was always good. If I had to pick out something in the food line that stood out, I would praise the soup. At lunch and dinner, there was always a choice of two and always delicious. Using the decorated tunnel, lighted in the evening, under the road to the beach, there is a sun terrace with tables beside another bar and restaurant as well as clean toilets. The restaurant had food and drinks available all day for guests who wanted to spend the whole day at the beach. The road was a little noisy, but it was the main road and the tunnel from the Doganay gardens, did mean that crossing that road didn’t involve playing with the traffic. In the hotel we never found road noise to be a problem.
Cleanliness of the hotel, public spaces and rooms, was excellent. As for the staff it seemed they couldn’t do enough for us. Friendly but not intrusive, everyone we met at the hotel just wanted to do whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable.
The animation team were the best I have encountered in any hotel I have been in. Although one reviewer thought they were too much ‘in your face’ I never found that at all. Yes they were busy around the back pool, organising games and activities, but we always found them polite, friendly and always accepted with a smile that ‘no thank you’ meant you didn’t want to join in. On breaks in their very long day, they might sit with you in the ‘pool bar’, but never without asking first if it was alright if they joined you. A lovely group of young people and a credit to the hotel. The evening entertainment, which followed the ‘Mini Disco’ sometimes felt a little strained, but they were trying to put on a show that would entertain guests from many of the old USSR states, as well as from almost all of the EU countries as well, in what seemed like almost every language in Europe. Not an easy proposition, and I think they did wonderfully. Full credit to them. Anyone who found them intrusive around the back pool did have the option of using the front pool in the gardens or the indoor pool if the sun was becoming too much, where the animation team would not bother you at all.
Well worth a visit is the Spa and wellness centre, located in the basement next to the gymnasium. The range of massages, all by qualified masseurs are impressive. My wife talked me into a course of five massages, very reasonably priced. I had never had a massage before in my life, but I immediately felt the benefit after the first one. Some of the treatments were uncomfortable although everything was handled very professionally and I had full confidence in the masseur.
Speaking English, we were definitely in the minority, although most of the staff seemed reasonably comfortable with the language. We certainly never felt we were left out of anything, as some people we spoke to from another hotel said they were. I think having an English guest relations manager, the lovely Gemma, who was always on hand if we had any queries, helped in that. Please convey our thanks to all the staff Gemma, they were all great.
So! What can we say? The hotel exceeded our expectations. Was it five star? I suppose that depends on your expectations of what constitutes five star, but with the range of facilities on offer we thought it was. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented. The staff friendly and helpful. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Food and drink available 24 hrs of the day. Rooms comfortable and clean. The big question – Would we go back to this hotel? You bet your last euro we would! I could really get used to being pampered like that. We didn’t want to leave. Two hour + transfer from airport was a bit much, especially at that hour of the morning, but well worth it to go to a hotel like the Doganay.
Best Tips –
Free bus into Alanya, but watch the shop keepers and be prepared to haggle, or they will rip you off.
Also try the massage, especially if you haven't had one before. It's definitely an experience.

Went to the Beach Club Doganay (pronounced Dow-an-eye) with my friend from 23/4-30/4/13 and had a lovely time! You will always get mixed reviews about All Inclusive hotels, but I thought this one was fab, and as you should always do, go to a foreign hotel knowing you're in another country and things won't be as they are at home!

The hotel is quite plush and doesn't feel like a beach-front hotel, mainly because of the carpet in the bedrooms! We were in a standard room which was fine, not massive but it had a double bed and a single bed for 2 of us. 1 slight negative, people were rather noisy walking/running along the balconies to get to their rooms late at night, so disturbed sleep a bit, and the walls between rooms are quite thin too. The reception and lobby area are lovely, with nice seating areas and lounges. It's kept immaculately clean, and well maintained throughout, with nice loos too!

The hotel is quite long, and points away from the beach rather than being wide across an expanse of the beach. The main road cuts across the resort so you have to go under a tunnel to get to the beach and its bar, but that's not a problem at all. The family pool with slides is at the furthest point away from the beach, and the quiet/adult pool is at the front and so is near the road, the only disadvantage to it really as you can hear the road noise. But the pool itself is gorgeous and was very quiet when we were there, very refreshing and perfect for swimming lengths. There were people there of all ages, so you could see that children loved the slides and mini fair in the kids club. The 2 main buildings of the hotel are split by a terrace/seating area, which has a bar/cake stand which is open from about 11am to late afternoon. The selection of cakes is lovely with great variety each day.

The food - well it was amazing! I've been to All Inclusive before and this was the best. The variety and effort put into the salads and desserts was fantastic. Hot food was lovely too. But then I enjoy trying lots of different things and definitely don't want 'plain' food or just steak and chips every night. The choice of vegetable dishes was great, with BBQs some nights, roast night, always spaghetti available, soups, breads, Chocolate fountain for dessert one night, just gorgeous. Didn't get chance to eat in the a la carte restaurant though.

The other great thing about the All Inclusive was the drinks/bars. Water is freely available in fridges all around the hotel, just grab a few bottles. The soft drinks are not yuk, actually they are Fanta, Sprite and Coca Cola. Red and white wine is nice, Rose is not so great, beer is fine, they'll make any cocktail you want in the lobby bar, and really nice bar staff too. TIP if you're going into Alanya for a night, its very expensive so get a water bottle and fill it with vodka from the bar! Mateus is happy to do this for you ;o)

The staff in the hotel are friendly and polite, but not in your face (apart from the animation team - to be expected!). The entertainment is pretty poor but nothing different to any other hotel I've ever been to! They do have a spa, and we were only asked once in the whole week to buy a treatment.

The beach is lovely, a bit shingly and big pebbles in the shallows, but the sea is so refreshing. If you turn left onto the beach and walk to the end up to the rocks, the sea is lovely there, no big pebbles so great for little kids. WATCH OUT THOUGH there was a Turkish guy loitering in the rocks and 'exposing' himself (as a polite way of putting it) so need to look out for the dirty locals.

The location by the sea and proximity to Alanya town is great, its just a long transfer from Antalya airport - 2.5 hours. On the whole, really fab place and suitable for all ages.

Thank you for your time writing this lovely review.
We are really happy you enjoyed your holiday. I can only apologise for that local indescreet man! Obviously not all locals are the same and we hope it hasnt put you off coming back to turkey or our hotel.
Antalya airport is a little far away, however, there are plans to open the Alanya gazipaşa airport to British flights in the near future! That will mean only a 40minute transfer time.
Once again thank you for your review.

This hotel is fantastic for all different people. The staff are great. The hotel is clean and modern. This is a must go. It has mini fair ground for kids. Different pools for relaxing, playing, and indoor if too hot in Sun. Everything is really well thought about. Would recommend to anyone.
