me and my partner stayed here in june 2010 and thought it was brilliant! well worth the money we paided, food was lovely! staff nice and friendly, clean, close to the beach and lots to do on a night, lovely pool with water slide!!!!! :D we felt safe at all times walking about in the early hours! also great for shopping and getting cheap fakes! brilliant water park near by and its cheap to get in.
only fault is the long distance to the airport!
i recommend staying here! i wanna go bk! x

What I liked:
+ Beautiful view from the terrace / balcony while having breakfast / dinner
+ Nice staff / reserved and attentive
+ One of the nicest hotels direct at the cleopatra beach
+ Very close to the beach / nice garden between hotel and beach
+ Can walk into the city center (around 15min)
+ Pool was in a good shape
+ The dessert choise is very good (cakes etc...) also breakfast was very good
+ small shop directly at the hotel where you could buy everything
+ cost / performance very good

What I did not liked
- Rooms were clean but e.g. the bathroom could need some renovation
- If the time for breakfast is until 10:00 o'clock - that means 5after 10 the buffet is away ;-) this happened to us at the first day and the late arrival. But once you know the times - no issue
- maybe I was too confused from the heat - but we really had difficulties to get the temperature regulated in the night with A/C. Many different modes and buttons - sometime too hot - too much airflow. Maybe also we had a curios A/C in our room 111

Recommendation:
- shoes for the beach - it is much too hot to walk barefoot
- take a short boattour with a small fisher boat - just ask them and they will show you some nice caves where the big touristik boats can't go in
- rent a scooter / motorbyce and drive up the mountain (beautiful view)
- There were really some guests who brought their own coffee cups. The size of the cups of the hotel were normal so no need to do so. Maybe typical german ;-)
- I was surprised that there are many many scandinavian people there (what I liked- Sweden, Denark, Norway)
- the beach is quite crowded - so maybe in the high season it is difficult to find a place. Middle of June it was no problem.
- ask for a room with sea view (balcony directly to the sea) and the higher your room is (floor) the better the view

All in all this is a good choise and I can recommend staying in the Hotel Gardenia in Alanya.

Went here in May. This was my 4th time in alanya and this hotel was the cleanest and best room by far. The staff were friendly but non intrusive. However the food left a lot to be desired. Breafast was one of the worst so far in alanya. Pool was small but the sea is only 50 metres away so this does not matter. Overall a hotel I would return to without a secont thought.

My husband and myself, (age 60/55) have just returned from short break (5nts) at the Gardenia Hotel in Alanya. which is a 2 hr journey from the airport.

Position - Hotel is in a very good position overlooking Cleopatra Beach. The beach is beautiful, clean with plenty comfortable sun beds. Each sun bed and umbrella hired costs 2.50 Turkish Lira (£1.00 = £2.50 Turkish Lira) so to hire 2 sun beds a 1 umbrella costs approx £3.00 all day. Our stay was just out of season so not sure if the prices will increase or not.
Food – Food OK for breakfast, usual Turkish i.e. Cheese, Hams, Eggs, Salad, Cereals, Fresh breads jams tea/coffee. Evening meal edible but we found it to be bland and felt the choice could have been a bit better. This is just a minor gripe, but if you are half board for two weeks I think you may choose to dine out a few times. We only had 5 days and found the food repetitive.
Swimming Pool – Nice pool area, spotless clean, with very comfortable beds. Only downside, Alanya is very built up and the pool is overlooked. We preferred the beach.
Rooms – Clean and comfortable except for the pillows which were rock hard. We did not have our sheets changed during our stay. We thought it due to the fact we tidied the bed (not made properly) so the maid just left it as we had. Do not make your bed or you might not get your sheets changed!
Alanya – There is nothing Turkish about the resort, except for the people.
Purpose built, high rise with no character. Nice and clean though with plenty shops and restaurants. Beware if you like a vodka and lemonade or a G & T, be prepared to pay £4.00 for 1 drink!! My husband likes Jack Daniels and 1 drink was a rip off £5.40. The only reasonably priced drink is Effes beer. There is Effes light and Effes dark. Effes dark is more than double the price as the Effes light. It has to be imported from Istanbul!
Antalya Airport – Very Very Expensive £4.00 for a cup of tea, coffee or can of Coke. Take something with you for the return journey.

Would we return - I doubt it. We prefer to fly into Dalaman as we prefer the resorts in that area.

I work for hospitalty, When i travel i look ever thing differently and pay more attention. I stayed at Gardenia Hotel Alanya in one of the standard room facing to pool. Room was okey, Food was great restaurant at the top floor has beatiful sunsets during the dinner service was avareage, front desk staff was very helpful. Houskeeping did great job during my stay, while i was there i found out that the owner of the hotel was the famous mayor of the city of Alanya. After dinner we walked to downtown it takes only 10-15 minutes to walk, shops, bars, local attractions were so close, hotel is like on the beach by the downtown overlokking to the Great Alanya Castle (Was on the one of the turkish money) and beach. Highly recommend to everybody especially couples, honeymooners and families.
