“Good Hotel - You Get What You Pay For!”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

I stayed at the Elysee Hotel Alayna in October 2013 and had a really good holiday.

The Hotel is a good standard for the price paid (£400 each all inclusive) and has a great location across the road from a lovely beach and walking distance to the main town and harbour area of Alayna (which is a great place to visit with nice bars, restaurants, scenery, history and plenty going on outside of the main season).

I think the main positives from the hotel itself would be:
- Location: as above excellent location in relation to the beach (where you can use your all inclusive band for free soft drinks) and Alayna
- Staff: very friendly and helpful
- Facilities: Hotel is fairly basic but has an onsite shop, gym (a bit dated) and Turkish Bath. Rooms also have a flat screen TV, free air conditioning (which is so good it gets too cold!!) and safety deposit boxes at a really cheap price. Lots of seating in the lobby, by the pool and plenty of sun loungers although it may be pretty crammed during the high season.
- Cleanliness: the hotel and pool area are spotless and the room was cleaned daily which was impressive.
- Food: the majority of the hotel clients are German and the food is tailored mainly to those guests (if you are British and want a fry up every day and burgers and chips for dinner you will be disappointed) but i found the food of really good quality (mainly soups, stews, salads, meats and rice at main meals with pizza, pasta and chips only at snack time). There are also loads of great priced restaurants nearby for a change.

For me, some simple changes would really improve the hotel offering:
- All Inclusive Drinks: The all inclusive option is really limited in terms of drinks; you only have Beer, Wine, Gin and Vodka. Not expecting a huge choice for the price but even a few more options like schnapps and a cocktail option would be good.
- Advertised Meal Times: Dinner was advertised as 7pm to 9pm and as my wife and I like to get as much sun as possible we often like to eat nearer 9pm. This was impossible in this hotel however as often the restaurant would start clearing the food away at 20 past 8 - one night I just managed to get a plate of food before the deserts and starters were cleared away and one couple who turned up to eat at 8.45pm were turned away - this was really poor and needs to be addressed.
- Poolside: there is a large shrub at the poolside beside the stage and this blocked the sun for a large part of the pool area for much of the afternoon, this should be cut down!!!
- Room Carpet: the cream carpet in our room was very dirty with stains all over the floor – this really detracts from the rest of the hotel which is very clean and should be changed to wood flooring or replaced!!

Overall, I think the Elysee Hotel is good value for the price but I probably would try another hotel in Alanya on my next visit with more Scottish and English clients for a bit more interaction!

Room Tip: If you are going to the Elysee Hotel make sure you request a sea view room at least three floors up...

I made a last-minute booking to stay at the Elysee in August 2012 with two family members and had a lovely time! Our room was basic but cleaned everyday to a good standard. To use the air-con (which was fantastic!) and electricity, you had to stick the room key in the wall but I think this is standard with a lot of hotels.

They didn't have much in the way of entertainment during my stay but there is plenty to do in the town and the surrounding area. The choice of food in the all-inclusive option was good and included soups, bread, chips, pasta, meat, fish, fresh salad and a range of desserts. The drink options included soft drinks, wine and vodka and more. The staff were really lovely and accommodating and great with kids.

The hotel has its own shop which is useful and stocks everything from drinking water to arm-bands and kids' sunglasses for reasonable prices. There is also free Wi-Fi in the lobby which is a plus but can run fairly slow if a lot of people try to access it at the same time.

The view from the balcony was great and you always got a lovely, warm breeze on a night-time. The hotel is right opposite a nice beach so it's in an ideal location, the town centre is also within walking distance and there's plenty of bars and restaurants along the strip. Kleopatra Beach, is only a cheap taxi journey away and staff are more than happy to order them for you.

Overall, Alanya is a lovely place which I would definitely recommend to others and there is plenty to do. Definitely go on a boat trip if you can. We managed to hire a boat for a private day trip for a really good price which worked out at around £60 which was really lovely. We managed to visit many sights included the Red Tower, the Lover's Cave and even swam alongside turtles!

I'd also advise a trip to the Dimçayı Kervansaray Piknik if you get chance. Beautiful natural lakes - freezing cold but once you get used to it, it's ridiculously refreshing! They were beautiful little hut-type things on stilts in the water that are connected by little jetties to walk around on. They have tables surrounded by cushions and you can order freshly cooked food and drinks at a reasonable price! Had a really nice day there and the scenery is out of this world.

After booking and then reading some of the reviews here we were very nervous about the hotel, however I dont actually recognise the hotel referred to!
The room was clean and tidy, TV was flat screen, wal mounted and while not 32"!! was large enough to watch .
Room was a little tired ie carpet but Ive seen worse in hotels in uk which are part of a national chain
Food was great, plenty of choice, breakfast runs 7am-9am then a mini buffet breakfast 9-10 but when we did the late one it was full buffett, lots of choice of hot and cold, a lot of salad/cold meat/cheese but then again this is not an exlusive "Brits" hotel, majority were European when we were there. If you want a Fry up full on english, you will have to walk 2 mins down the road

Staff absolutely fantastic

Pool very clean, one of the best I have seen in Turkey / Greek holidays

Lunch was 12-2 served in the top floor restaurant (as was breakfast).. late lunch 2 -4pm, limited choice but still 2 or 3 hot dished plus salad etc served in the inside bar / eating area by the pool...cake time was 5-6 then dinner 7-9pm wine/beer/soft drinks included with dinner

Soft drinks, tea, coffee and bar drinks available 9am-11pm in the bar by the pool

We will definitely go back.... we paid £285 for 2 people, only ate out once (family celebration), if you do decide to eat out recommend the Flamingo about 5-7 mins walk on the beach side of the road heading into the town centre

Again... great hotel, great staff

The hotel people manage the place like fascists. And not like good ones with good management and organizational skills either. Room was smelly. Carpets very dirty. As far as I could see there are many many other much better alternatives in Alanya both in price and comfort.
