My wife and I had a really good chill out at the Monart City. It was excellent value for money. We were there from 29 April till 06 May 2014.
The flight from Manchester with Thomas Cook was second to none, new plane and excellent staff. We took off on time and landed on time. Once we landed we knew we were in Turkey!
We booked the trip with Broadway Travel who were as slick and professional as they always are but on this occasion their Transfer supplier A2B Travel were diametrically the opposite to excellent. Three planes landed at approximately the same time at Antalya airport, Thomas Cook, Monarch and Easyjet. All the holidaymakers who were going to Alanya were given the same information by their holiday providers. Get your bags, go out of the terminal, cross the road and look for desk No 60 - A2B travel. Guess what, when we found it the light out, no sign, completely deserted. We were told by the Thomas Cook Rep that they couldn't really help, but told us to look for a man with a white shirt and a yellow tie. To cut a long story short there was nobody to meet us, we did find a man with a white shirt and a yellow tie who was a driver for another bus but not ours who sorted the situation out best he could and got a fellow out from A2B.
Our plane landed at 22.15, we got out of the car park at just gone midnight with 127 kms to go. We very slowly got on the road then halfway through the journey the driver stopped for a tea and soup break for 20 mins!!! We were all desperate just to get to our final destinations. Anyway we were dropped off at 2.20 am at the Hotel. Others had further to go who were at different hotels.
Reception were very helpful and friendly, they quickly sorted us out with our rooms and directed us to a bar/restaurant where we could get hot food and a drink - which were all very good.
The hotel consisted of three separate blocks containing out rooms and the rest of the necessary amenities and facilities. There were two pools, each with their own bars. The main restaurant was very good, it was on two floors and self service. The staff were helpful in the main and the food was excellent. The biggest problem was finding a cup of coffee as a lot of the machines just kept running out and then if the coffee was there the cups weren't. On the plus side they didn't run out of beer or wine. You could get food and drink pretty well 24 hours a day. They had an A la carte restaurant which you could use a couple of times if you wanted, we tried it once and it was OK to good.
Our room was good and the maid cleaned everyday. Ours was on the front, the right hand block looking from the road - which was very noisy even with the windows closed due to constant traffic. Having said that you can't have a sea view without the noise. On the plus side you could sit on the balcony and watch the world go by.
It was easy to walk to the harbor and into town or you could walk down the prom. You could hire bikes if you wanted to and cycle the prom in a safe bike lane. There were shops all around and bigger shops and malls in town. There was also a good bus service.
The beach was just across the road and had beds and a bar, it was a bit stony towards the waters edge so some cheap pool shoes would be a boon.
The hotel all round was very good to excellent and value for money.
