“Non smokers beware”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We stayed in this hotel complex in October. The hotel is very tired and in need of a facelift. Staff are worked very hard and as a result have no time for guests, you are made to feel in the way. Around 95% of guests are German, many of whom are smokers. This results in all the bars during the day and in the evening being taken over with little or no areas left for non smokers. If is rains, then the non-smoking areas are given over to the smokers. We had to retreat to our room with our drinks. The staff are all fluent in Turkish and German but most have no English and do not really try to understand what it is one is saying (see comment above on how stressed the staff are). The main restaurant feels more like a canteen and is very busy at meal times. We often had no option but to share our table with strangers, as during busy times there are not enough tables. The food is plentiful (eat as much as you can) but repetitvie, the same salad bar lunch and evening. Similarly the deserts began to all look very familar towards the end of our seven day stay. The midnight buffet serves soup and left overs from the evening meal. We arrrived at midnight and were offered soup and a plate of food that had been kept warm for 3 hours. We went to bed hungry and very upset at the lack of welcome we received. The hotel is clean and efficiently run, rather like a factory, but not what you want when trying to relax on holiday. The hotel is a long walk outside Alanya, there are buses every 6/10mins at a reasonable cost, but we we expecting to be able to stroll into the town in the evening. The private beach is grey gravel sand with a supply of sunbeds. Swimming is not for the faint hearted as the beach shelves quickly to deep water. There is a beach bar (not on the beach) but again see comments as to smokers. There is live entertainment with loud music every evening until 1:00pm. There was AC in the room but the hotel had switched this off to all the rooms as they decided the temperature had dropped (it was 26 degrees). We would not recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing break and a bit of pampering. However, if you want to eat and drink as much as you can and are a smoker, this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room go for rooms in the 400 block.

My husband and I stayed for first 2 weeks of September. This is our 3rd time visiting Alanya and by far the best hotel we've stayed in.
The hotel is huge as are the rooms - if I was to be ultra fussy I'd say that the A/C wasn't always cold enough at night but this was by no means a huge problem.
The food was AMAZING, if anybody suggests otherwise then I simply don't know what they could want to eat! The choice is wonderful and varied every night. The staff are friendly and yes they do speak German more than English but this is because there are more German guests than English ones. This is also not really a problem and is very common in this part of Turkey.
The hotel offers an A'la Carte meal near the beach by candlelight which First Choice customers can book for free - highly recommended and really romantic. Be warned that there is a lot of food! :-)
I've noticed some bad reviews of the entertainment. The team that provides the entertainment also provides entertainment around the pool all day and looks after the childrens club. They try their hardest and it's not that bad!

Would we go back....ABSOLUTELY.

We stayed in this hotel for a week. We travelled in the last week of August, just before the school opened with my wife, seven year old son and two other friends. Here is our experience:
EBI:
• Arrived at 12.30, after 3 hour journey from the airport and were greeted with bread and soup. Not a 5 star treatment.
• We would not recommend the hotel massage, really waste of money. To be fair, only the Turkish baths aspect of it was ok.
• Take a portable iron with you.
WWW
• The hotel manager is talented; we value his management skills-a truly 5 star service!
• Good food, variety as well.
• Friendly staff
• City center close by, take the number 1 bus.
• Cleopatra Beach is good; we hired stand up scooters, boats and canoes.
• Good excursion opportunities; take the boat trip!
• What’s wrong with the Germans? Seriously, if we wanted to go to a place full of British, we would have stayed in England! They are nice people.
• Hearing the Adhan (call to prayer) was beautiful!

In short, go to Alanya, its beautiful, we would return-God willing.

Room Tip: doesn't really matter

The hotel is well maintained and is set in beautiful gardens with nice pool areas. I visited in mid-September 2011 and the hotel was not too busy and there was always lots of space on the beach. I really enjoyed the food and looked forward to it - good quality and variety. Reading the reviews I had some concerns regarding the hotel being dominated by Russians/ Germans but it was not a problem. Surprisingly I enjoyed the entertainment and had a couple good nights out with the team! I would recommend a visit to the local town and getting a boat trip. Its quite a long transfer from the airport to the hotel so I would also recommend getting private transfer booked before you go. Enjoy!

Dear all,

As I never participated in any review writing I wil try to be as honest and accurate as possible. This time however, I feel strongly obliged to share my experience with you as it is totally different than many previous ones on this site. Indeed, it is true that the hotel is lovely, clean and very spacious in both ways – rooms and grounds/layout wise. It is also true that all hotels’ facilities are very well maintained, hotel is located in a beautiful surrounding with private beach as variety and quality of food is good. However, the biggest disappointment and downside of this place is the staff, rude and arrogant without even basic knowledge of English. The entire hotel is concentrated on German and Russian guests; therefore, these two languages are in constant use. The problem starts when you are trying to explain you don’t understand those languages, they (the staff) talking to you in German anyway, without paying attention of what you trying to say. Particularly, the breakfast staff is a nightmare, with the worst attitude and approach towards the guests I’ve have ever seen. As I mentioned before, the hotel and all facilities are really lovely, surely it is the most beautifully situated hotel in Alanya. As a future guest you only need to consider whether it is more important than the minimum of appropriate customer service standards.

Room Tip: All rooms are spacious and clean. Particularly the sea view rooms are lovely as overseeing gardens a...

We werent sure what to expect but we were very happy with the hotel. The draw back is the transfer time from airport but all depends on flight times. The hotel is in a great situation with its own beach. The complex is v clean, our room was good and it was cleaned every day and new towels.Food great, lots to pick from and fab salads as i am vegatarian. Lovely puddings as well. Pools good,3 to pick from and going first week in Sept could always get a place by the pool. All staff friendly and customer service great. Entertainment at night was not good, worse than Butlins but as all inclusive the local gin helped! Local bus cheap though bus very packed and not too far into town.We enjoyed our holiday and found we could relax in this lovely hotel.

We stayed three weeks of August 2012 in that hotel. The transfer time took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there (less than we expected, probably because the driver was in a hurry and drove at a speed of 130 km/h). The hotel is situated very close to the city center (to go there, we took bus N1) and Alanyum shopping mall (bus N2 or N3 both reaches the mall in 10 minutes). The hotel was very nice and clean with friendly staff and it was surrounded by beautiful botanical garden. We booked superior rooms in the main building with garden and see view, so it was special pleasure to go out to the balcony in the mornings. The restaurant provided delicious food, and every day was dedicated to the different cousin (German, Turkish, Asian, Italian). The co-called "special feature" was ice-cream provided during lunches and dinners. The only problem that we have was food for our 8 month old baby. But we approached the Chief and he promised to provide us with dietetic meals. The beach was also very nice and you could choose to get sunbeds ether on the sand part or on the grass part of the beach. The sea was warm before 10 am, and then the gateways opened and the mountain river (called Dimchay) started to flow into the see. But it was also kind of fun to swim in half-cold half warm water. In general the hotel is very nice for family stay, but could be boring for young people seeking entertainment due to the poor animation (which is on my opinion the only weakness of that hotel).

Room Tip: Superior rooms in the main building as they have excellent view and are very comfortable
