Myself and my girlfriend stayed here in November. I was a little nervous as the holiday was so cheap. It was our first trip away together, although I have done a lot of travelling myself.
When we arrived at the airport I wasn't very impressed. Everything seemed poorly organised and the passport checks took forever. The queuing system was very chaotic and without any direction we was left wondering if we was in the correct que. The thing I really didn't like was the fact that so many selfish smokers where aloud and felt the need to smoke in the airport cafe. The cafe was not closed from the rest of the area so we where all able to share the second hand smoke.
Arrival at the hotel. Well this was much better than I had expected the hotel seemed a little worn but was decorated well and kept quite clean. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and you will be sure to have a favourite or two of your own.
Food. The food was of a decent quality although nowhere near the amazing quality of the À la carte restaurant. We went to the À la carte restaurant for our last meal and for my girlfriends birthday. It was amazing, a live musician playing peaceful music while you eat was a lovely touch. They even turned off the lights and got everyone to sing happy birthday to my girlfriend while they brought her a cake over, this was unasked for and a very nice experience.
As it was November it was a little too cold to be swimming outside but the indoor pool was lovely. We also had a half day spa treatment that was VERY relaxing. Although out of season the weather was still nice and warm enough for shorts and t-shirts everyday.
We did go on some excursions and really enjoyed the experiences although some of the locals can be a bit rude and annoying, trying anything they can to engage you in a conversation that leads to them selling you some crap you never wanted. Some tricks: 1. Avoid getting drawn into conversation. 2. If it is your first time, don't let them know it! 3.shop around and make sure that "AMAZING" deal you have been offered really is as good as it sounds.
Overall the holiday was much better than we had expected as was the hotel. Although we are in our 20's we met a lot of lovely elderly couples who we would chat to over a few drinks at the bar. If like me you cant miss the football, don't worry they have a room by a bar showing live premier league football, every game and English commentary. Would definitely go again and would recommend to everyone.
