We can't complain because we got a really good deal at this resort paying £608 for 2 adults, all inclusive for a week. Some people we meet had paid even less and stayed even longer, so do shop around.

We had gone at the perfect time 03/11/2013 - 10/11/2013 because everything around us by the end of the week was closing down. For example the bar at the beach, the pool side bars and the disco. If you are going to go to this resort around November just be prepared for this as there is not much to do of an evening other than eat just outside of the resort.

One thing that did annoy me and my partner was not being able to relax by the pool in the resort, without someone coming by asking for us to go on camel trips, have massages or have our feet eaten by fish, every 5 minuets, every day of our stay, they were relentless and on a loop. If your not interested just be firm and say no your not interested because otherwise they will not leave you alone for your whole stay, we thought if we be polite and say if we want to do it we will find you, they would leave off but they didn't because they say us as potential customers.

The people of Tunisia are great but can be pushy and trap you to buy things you don't want, they are great con artists, just be aware of this. I spoke to a lady at the resort who told me a great example of this, a man was giving necklaces away saying they are free putting them on peoples necks including her young child's, then saying buy this necklace that necklace on your neck is free. Then when she took the necklace off to give it back they would not take it and she ended up paying for a necklace she did not want.

When buying things from shops that are not a fixed price or from people always half the price and go just under, for example 200 dinars offer 80 and don't pay more than 100, because they will give it to you at that price if that is all you offer and walk away, they will run after you and give it to you.

Other than that do your research alittle, haggle and have fun.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony facing the pool

Just come back from Soviva park in Tunisia, and found the best part of our holiday was centered round the fabolous animation team there who went out of their way to introduce themselves to people in the hotel, they made time for everybody.
they were 4 talented people. very friendly and welcoming.

The food was good spoilt for choice, clean and hygienic restaurant, and friendly staff.7
Overall good holiday, the bedrooms were basic, but there again you don`t spend much time in the room.

Hope to meet the entertainment team again in the future.

We stayed at the Soviva Resort from 30th October to 6th November as a half term getaway and late family holiday.

Our room was clean the maid came in everyday and even folded all of our clothes! She was a god send. The hotel in General could do with a makeover as it's getting a bit shabby. The hotels bunk beds I didn't feel were very secure so made my sons (3&4) sleep on the bottom bunk together.

The food was ok if you like chicken, got very boring. Yes the food will be unusual and different you are in a different country to your own home. Was always plenty of choice but defo very samey. Could get fresh pasta, paninis , pancakes and omelettes cooked. Was always fresh fruit out but wouldn't let my kids touch it after viewing a bug eating into it.

The beach by the hotel which you had to walk down a very dirty road to get to was filthy cans and glass everywhere good job we only wanted to go for a scroll and not sunbathe on it all day.

The locals were VERY pushy and touchy feely which I hated tried to get you to buy from there shops as they see English as rich what they don't seem to realise is that England is in a recession and that when at home we are as poor as them.

The animation team were fabulous at this hotel especially shaggy and Toby though again thought nothing of picking up my children and taking them off including us panicking as we couldn't find my 4 year old autistic son one day where they had taken him off without permission for activities.

The waiter at our hotel was great knew our drinks off by heart and our glass was barely empty before another drink was bought to our table!

We booked as 4 star through Thomas Cook but when we got there we has discovered it's recently been downgraded to a 3 star hotel.

Overall, it wasn't a bad holiday but not a place to go if you want to not be pestered.

This was our first holiday abroad together (my husband and our 4 year old) and i have to say Tunisia really isn't the place to go if you wish to leave your hotel and go exploring, i felt anxious and vunerable the whole time i was off the hotel grounds and very on edge when it came to my daughter, they LOVE children an whilst this isnt always a bad thing they are very ott, kissy and cuddly with the children and think nothing of picking your child up an taking them off or taking their photo without asking! especially if you have a fair haired, blue eyed child!
Tunisians apparently see us english as being rich and so hassle you big time to buy from their shops or stalls etc and can take great offence if you try and say no!
The soviva resort dont have a whole lot going for it outside the hotel grounds, its like a shanty town! quite a creepy walk to beach as your outside the safety of the hotel and the beach was really gross when we went (end of oct) apparently they had stopped cleaning it because it was out of season? glass and rubbish everywhere! but potentially could be nice in high season time! we thought the hotel was right in port el kantaoui but its not!
The hotel itself is ok, most staff friendly, they arent very good at informing you on things in the hotel such as the free bottle of water you can get each day by going to reception and getting a water token! and how the running of restaurant works etc!
we stayed for 11 nights and feel this was too long as boredom set in and the food really wasnt good! its fine for first few nights then its so repetitive an makes u feel sick, so sick that my husband and other people we met actually did get sick from the food an spent a day if not more very near to the loo! food isnt good for children either!!!
thomas cook animation team consisted of two girls whilst we were there... we only know this from their t-shirts as they spent their whole time (maybe 2hrs a day?) flirting with blokes round the pool! didnt work hard at all!! The hotels animation team mainly shaggy and toby worked all day everyday! constantly trying to involve guests and make their time more enjoyable always smiling and really workng hard!!! On our last night the hotel owner attempted to let shaggy and toby go!!!! god knows what he was thinking they keep his place running! he should be grateful!
im sure there is more i could add but its late and im tired! We dont think Tunisia is a place to go for young families who like exploring and like to feel safe! the hotel itself aint too bad (i would never stay again mind) but the location is pretty pants!
