When we arrived at the hotel and allocated our rooms I have to admit I was disappointed with the rooms themselves, they were quite dark, and though we had everything we needed apart from plugs in the bathroom the rooms could do with a facelift, however they were clean, the staff were great. The outside areas were well laid out and well looked after.I particularly liked the mattresses for the sunbeds. The food was good and plentiful the drinks basic but served with a smile.Customer service very good.Animation team were great very friendly and worked exceptionally hard. All in all I would recommend the hotel perfectly placed on the beach front.

Came to the Iberostar after refusing to stay at the Alhambra and even though both are given a 4 star rating this hotel was like a palace in comparison! The staff were brilliant in helping me to sort out swapping hotels and thankfully they had availability for myself and my daughter to stay.

Staff are welcoming, polite and friendly, rooms are a good size, comfy beds and safe facilities in the rooms added extra security. Rooms cleaned daily, sometimes better than others but happy enough. Huge selection and variety of food at every sitting, animation team were fantastic and had activities going on day and night for children up to adults, couldn't fault them. This hotel had a sense of security, guards man the beach at night which is also clean and perfectly placed at the back of the hotel with plenty of sun loungers which are included in the price. There are some minor areas which could do with a refresh but it had no effect on a very enjoyable and comfortable 11 nights at the hotel.

I just wished I had booked this first without going through the stress of leaving the other so called 4 Star hotel next door, well done to all the staff at the Iberostar!

We stayed at this resort in May for 10 nights (we booked through thomas cook) and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The resort is very good, lovely hotel with good facilities. Rooms are a little basic. You had to pay 3.5 dinar per day for a safe but that's worthwhile. Our room was cleaned daily. We never received the 2 bottles of water in our room but as we were on all inclusive it didn't bother us too much. Also, the air con isn't turned on until June but this was ok because it never got too hot weather wise. The layout of the hotel is a bit odd - we were right at the back and our room overlooked the path used by next doors hotel for guests to get to the beach. It also meant we had to walk a fair way to get to the main hotel lobby. As I said, only minor issues with the hotel. Another of which was the late check out process. I think they wanted 60 dinar per room but you needed to do it on the morning you were leaving. Well I'm a bit impatience so I asked the main desk the day before and was assured we could have our room until 6pm - we just had to pay in the morning. So, I went down before breakfast to pay and was told the hotel was overbooked so no, can't give you your room to 6pm. I was quite annoyed but luckily our rep Jennifer was at the hotel that morning doing a welcome meeting so I spoke to her and she sorted it - we used the hotels FREE complimentary room. So basically don't pay for the late check out, just ask for the complimentary room so you can have a shower get ready etc. Make sure if you leave luggage that they lock it in the room behind the desk.

The positives about the hotel are the food, service and the entertainment team. Food was amazing! Given there's only the buffet and a cafe by the pool we never went hungry - we ate a lot! The drinks were a bit weak (beer in particular) but this meant you could drink a lot more so no problems there! The service (on the whole) was excellent. Some people did get table service in the bar (we got it once during our whole stay) but we didn't mind going up to the bar as you ended up chatting with other guests which is nice. The pool service was similar - some people got served drinks on their loungers but we we're never offered. We always got a lounger although only once by the pool side but we didn't mind sitting in the grassy areas. Tipping isn't expected but it's nice to give the very hard working staff, especially the waiters in the restaurant, a few dinars every day. The entertainment team were great - they work so hard getting the guests motivated for aqua gym (my favourite) and all the other activities they do. Evening entertainment was great - we never saw the same "show" twice as I think they rotate the shows fortnightly rather than weekly. Sam was fantastic, very funny guy and he came and found us before we left to say goodbye which was nice. Zahadine in the restaurant was brilliant, such a nice man. We always sat in his section for our meals (right at the back near the desserts).

We ventured out a couple of times to the port and we did a thomas cook trip to the madina which was excellent.

So, overall a fantastic holiday. Excellent value for money and we were sad to leave!!

Room Tip: Rooms in the corridors were quite noisy as everyone walks past you to get to their own room. Not muc...

Dear Guest,

Firstly we would like to thank you for choosing our IBEROSTAR Diar El Andalous hotel for your holidays in Tunisia and for the time you spent to share your feelings on your stay; it is wonderful to read we were able to exceed your expectations, this is always our goal.

Related to the late check-out, we lament hearing that apparently you were not properly informed and will pass on your comments to our head of reception for improvement; During high occupancy periods, we cannot pre book late check outs onsite as we receive last minute bookings and may need all our rooms, this is why we invite our guests to enquire about the possibility to keep the room on the departure day, however we always strive to keep one room available as a courtesy room for our guests with late departure flights so that they can use our hotel’s facilities and freshen up before leaving for the airport.

Moreover, we loved reading your praising comments on our restaurants; at IBEROSTAR we have a true passion for gastronomy and strive to make it one of the highlights of our guests’ stay among us; it is very rewarding to read you enjoyed every dining experience among us.

We are also very grateful for your nice comments towards our animation staff, their enthusiasm is contagious and they strive to offer a wide variety of leisure and sport activities throughout the day as well as entertaining evening shows to make our guests' stay a memorable one.

Last but not least, we want to express our utmost gratitude for your amazing words towards our staff, as you well say their great attitude, genuine helpfulness and full commitment to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay at our hotel is definitely our main asset; we will certainly not miss this opportunity to congratulate them on your behalf for their contribution to your wellbeing throughout your stay among us.

Gastronomy, service and entertainment being the prime pillars of our company, we are thrilled were able to deliver and are grateful for your highlights on these aspects of your stay.

Thank you again for your visit and the courtesy of your time; it would be a great pleasure to welcome you again at your earliest convenience.

Stayed in hotel on end of may for 1 week. will give honest review. When arriving to hotel we were given a bottle of water and a form to fill in which was in every language but English, considering 90% Brits stay here! Rooms good size but needs updating.Cleaned daily though but not thorough! Bedding and towels changed daily. Pool area clean but need to get there early to get sunlounger as people reserve them. Fresh beach towels every day. Great lifeguards around the pool and on the beach, very friendly and attentive. Food was ok,but was a little repetitive at times. A suggestion of having themed nights every other day to bring more choice to the restaurant. The Tunisian night on the Friday was brill and got everyone involved! one word of caution though do be careful when having chicken kebabs in downstairs restaurant as they were under cooked one lunchtime! The waiter staff their are amazing especially the tall guy with tache who always remembered what drinks you had! The animation staff were fun and got people involved but the entertainment at night was poor. If you like the big shows like they do in Turkey, the entertainment here was the opposite. Very amateur really but they tried! The bar staff were brilliant as well, especially Hassouna and of course 'YES PLEASE' guy aka Casood. They made our holiday really. They were so friendly, funny and of course always remembered your drinks. Take a wander to the right of the beach and it takes you to the harbour, this takes around 20mins to get to Port El Kantaoui, very pretty place with the usual shops. As for the tipping of staff we gave a few coins to waiters every night but they don't ask or expect it. They are very grateful. All in all it was a great holiday for my husband and I. We would go back to Tunisia again as the people are so friendly but not sure whether we would return to hotel. A good 3 STAR hotel not 4 Star.

Well we visited this hotel last year at the same time in June and without children and I wrote how fantastic it was. However this year there were a few things which let the hotel down , these being:
After a long wait in Bristol with 2 children this time ,an early flight and lots of queues we arrived to have no room ready (I had paid £300 to upgrade To a suite).
Once the room was ready we then had a lot of issues with the air conditioning.
Basically it was blowing out hot air but none of the staff were listening to us. They kept saying it was fixed ! This really annoyed us as it was not fixed . We asked to speak with management and after a long wait he turned up and explained there was an issue with the air conditioning system (which had not been explained originally by any staff.)
We then went on to enjoy the holiday very much. Food was very good although a little repetitive and there was a lack of staff in the pool bar area and restaurant . We also had to find our own cutlery a few times in the mornings which showed that there were not enough staff on shift.
I must thank Kym the lifeguard who is fantastic and extremely good at customer service and also the porter who could not apologise enough about our air conditioning.
The other staff who were amazing were:
Emily and Samuel - animation team
Hamel and Sarhl (I think that was his name) he worked in the piano bar and made slushes for me as they were never ready at the pool bar until after 12.
The barman was fab in the piano bar during the day as he sang happy birthday to me when I purchased champagne and always had a smile on his face .He needs a compliment paid to him about how is customer service is second to none. I would employ him - he had only been at the hotel for a month.
All in all it is the staff within this hotel that really make the holiday special.
There are a lot of managers that walk around who could help out more ,
The management have us 2 free massages due to our issues which we fully appreciated .

Dear Guest,

First of all, thank you for making our IBEROSTAR Diar El Andalous your choice hotel when traveling to Tunisia. We regret that we fell short of your expectations from past visits.

Moreover please receive our apologies for the imperfections with you air conditioning system in the room; we are glad to hear that our management was able to compensate the inconveniences caused and that from then on you were able to enjoy your holiday among us.

Furthermore, we lament hearing your disappointment at your arrival however we would like to point out that, as reported on your booking confirmation, the check in time starts at 14.00, although we always do our utmost to have our rooms ready for early arrivals, in peak season with high occupancy we may not be able to guarantee that all rooms will be ready in the morning as our housekeeping staff needs the time to undertake a thorough cleaning of the rooms after the previous guests’ check out.

Last but not least, we want to express our utmost gratitude for your amazing words towards our staff, as you well say their great attitude, genuine helpfulness and full commitment to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay at our hotel is definitely our main asset; Thank you for referencing so many of our team members by name, as we are now able to reach out to them individually and let them know how they made such a positive impact on your stay.

Our goal is to assure our guests feel comfortable and fully enjoy their visits. We are eager to regain your confidence during another occasion if you gave us that chance

This was our second visit to the hotel. first visit being 2/11/13 and second 21/5/14 each visit for 7 nights. I will post bits that we felt from both visits. I posted my review as soon as I returned by have had if taken down by trip advisor because it wasn't a true review! I can honestly say I am a normal holiday maker and all the info in my review is what I experienced and was told by staff whilst out there.

We had amazing times, and are so gutted to be home.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were given a form to fill in and given a cocktail whilst doing this. The first time our room wasn't ready as we arrived at 12pm so we went for lunch then got our room, second time round we arrived at 8pm so went straight to the room and dumped our bags then went straight for dinner.

The room we had was very spacious (number 156) and looked onto the archery area.

Room was always very clean, the only little thing was there was mould on the ceiling around the shower in the bath, and the walls looked a bit grubby in the bedroom area but just needed a paint over! But it didn't effect our stay in any way!

The room had a mini fridge, but wasn't stocked with anything but you could always ask for bottles of water from the bars to keep in there. There was also a tv with a few english channels, a hair dryer in the room, and a safe which is about £10 for the week. We asked for the same room before we left and we were given it.

To begin with we were a bit confused by the hotel, and it was a bit like a maze but you soon get your bearings!

Some bars are better then others for drinks, sometimes the pumps would be flat or it would be the local coke served rather then coca cola. Would be nice if there was more cocktails available as we tried some but they all came out the same!

Food- The first time we went there were reviews saying it was more for different nationalities, which was right.

BUT you Would NOT get hungry! it is very repetitive. for the last few days it was just pizza and pasta for us.

But it is all freshly cooked, and the pasta you choose what goes into it. Yes some of the other foods are luke warm, but i don't think i have ever been to a all inclusive where the food is always super hot!

Other things to eat were soup, salads, cold meats, cheese, chips, rice, lots of fish, vegetables, quite often turkey

You can eat in the beach bar at lunch time, which serves pretty much similiar but they also do turkey kebab.

Desserts are lovely and are probably one of the best we have seen at a all inclusive hotel. Not your typical desserts that all look lovely but taste exactly the same! There is also ice cream available!

The second time we didn't feel as stuck for food but whether this was because we were prepared to be eating pasta all the time who knows! but it was very yummy!

We stuck to the pool, which was a perfect size in november and we never had a problem getting a sunbed even getting to the pool at 10-1030ish but in may, i was lucky to get two beds at 8am!! people were turning up to the pool around 10am and they were being told they would have to go to the beach for the day!

The star friends which are the animation team do the club dance around the pool 3 times a day and it is nice to watch.

They work so hard, and put on different activities for you to take part in if you want to. Darts, archery, mini golf, volley ball, yoga, dance classes etc. But do be warned!!! If you become too friendly with them, you will end up doing everything! and you will be taking part in the shows in the evening!!!

The evening shows aren't excellent but you are sure to have a laugh- on our second visit they really wanted us to go watch the shows as it seemed like they were so proud of what they do (which they should be) and really wanted to show us their friends! They even let us watch them rehearsing.

Some people were rude to them and slating what they do. But when you work 9am- 1030pm trying to please people i'm sure you wouldn't find it the easiest job to do! Then after the evening show they have to rehearse for the new shows and get paid absolute peanuts! 500 dinar a month (about £180) and they have to send money back home to their parents and also have to pay for food if they eat in the hotel as this isn't included for them which i think is wrong!

Have to give a special mention to Samuel (with the crazy hair!!) who is excellent at his job and also Jamaica. There is also Abdel, and 2 girls Emily and orla?! this time round there are two new members of staff from Italy, Roberto and Linda.

They are so lovely though, when we arrived second time round we saw jamikia who noticed us and hugged us, we went off and then before we knew it we had Abdel and Samuel coming to find us and they were so happy to see us! They really looked after us for the whole holiday and made it 5* for us.

The rest of the staff in the hotel are lovely, and will do anything you want. Their English is very good.

We were never made to feel like we had to tip anyone. Our first trip we treated the animation men to some cake, as a thank you gesture as they are the ones who seem to get forgotten but are the ones who really make the holiday! On our return we said did you like the cake they said yes so we went and got them some more and they were so grateful! As we were leaving we gave Samual and Jamikia about 9 dinar each and they didn't want to take it as they said we had bought them cake! But we made them take it and told them to buy themselves a beer at the weekend.

We ventured out of the hotel a few times, to the port. We walked along the main road which took about 25 mins and went the beach way which took about 20 mins. Also got a taxi which we paid 3 dinar during the day and about 5 after 9pm. To sousse in a taxi it took about 20 mins and we paid 5 dinar and again after 9pm add on about 2 dinar. Don't let the taxi drivers mug you off though as they try to charge double what it should be! We used to agree a price before we got in but now when we arrive at the place we get out hand the money in the window and walk off- of course they try to tell you its more but it really isn't!

Overall we had a excellent time We have stayed at different iberostars before and loved it and haven't been let down this time either!

I had previously marked it 4/5 only because the food was a slight let down to us, but this time i have given 5******

Now for the sad bit-

The hotel has been sold,, the two new animation team linda and roberto were wearing the a different uniform and there was also a sign up outside with a different name on.

The hotel will close in November for about 6 months, to do some updating to some of the bars and they will be creating more rooms. I really don't know where they will be putting these rooms as there isn't much space left! Also my other worry is there isn't enough room to seat all the current guests in the restaurant, pool area or bars and there isn't the space to expand these areas!

Regarding the staff- they won't get paid for the 6 months its closed then they have to reapply for their jobs when it reopens, there is no guarantee that they will have a job just because they have previously worked there!

Alot of the staff are basically saying well stuff you, why should they wait around for something that they might not even get.

The staff are the ones that make this hotel, and without them the hotel won't be the same which is why we won't be returning. We will be staying in contact with the staff and wherever they are going is where we will be going too.

Don't understand why such a fabulous hotel which is ranked number 1 and has outstanding reviews has been sold! We have stayed at a different hotel in Tunisia and we couldn't wait to leave, this one really was a little gem.

We are really hoping to get back before it shuts, but if not then we wont be returning

Any other questions please feel free to message me xx

Dear Sophie,

Thank you so much for your loyalty and trust in our IBEROSTAR Diar El Andalous hotel for your holidays in Tunisia as well as for the time you spent to share your recent experience on Tripadvisor.

Firstly we would like to clarify your doubts related to the sale of the property; the hotel has never been property of IBEROSTAR, but is managed by our company, this is why the recent change of ownership will not affect the management of the hotel that will still be ensured by IBEROSTAR in the future; moreover, the two Italian animators are employed by Francorosso which is an Italian Tour Operator and not by IBEROSTAR, this is why their uniforms are different.

On the other hand, we are glad you keep such nice memories of our staff and their genuine kindness; we will not fail to congratulate them on your behalf for their contribution to your wellbeing and fun whilst staying among us.

Moreover we thank you for pointing out the comfort and cleanliness of our accommodations as well as the quality and variety of our buffets.

Thank you again for your valuable time; It will be a real pleasure to welcome you back on your next trip to Port El Kantaoui and please do not hesitate contact us beforehand to organize every detail of your stay.

Kind Regards,
