I have stayed all over Tunisia over the last 20 years in all resorts and many hotels and I found this hotel spotless. The rooms are basic the same as all hotels, The rooms are cleaned every day, the room had a TV with sky channels and a hair dryer in the bathroom which was very powerful, had a bath and a shower and room was plenty big enough for sleeping in and getting ready and also a free use of the safe, All bar areas, reception, restaurant, and grounds were all spotless and well maintained and was always a maid cleaning the toilets, there was also a shoe cleaner, I found all the Bar, reception, cleaners, chefs, waiting, security, porters staff very friendly and helpful. The Thomas Cook rep Sarah was also very friendly and helpful and I have had her as a rep at previous hotels I have stayed in before.

The food was to a very good standard and plenty of choice, to suit both adults and children, the entertainment team worked very hard with activities during the day and a show on in the evening, The new years eve Garla dinner was very nice, and if you spoke to the lady before hand she was very pleased to offer alternative, soups, chicken, lasanga and chips apart from main set menu, The hotel should of got in a live band for new year, The entertainment team tried there best and made it enjoyable as they could, when they were only given 4 days notice to prepare for the show, I heard other guests shouting at staff and being very rude, when there was no need. They could not have been more helpful.

The only thing I was not happy about was the fact our hotel was shutting and we had to go to Riviara for 2 nights where the night club was not working and they were giving short messures to drink and the toilets were very smelly and dirty and not clean, the hall where we had entertainment was, smelt of cats wee, the entertainment hall they put the disco in and then said we couldn't smoke in there, yet smoking was allowed in there the day before, and smoking took the terriable smell of the room away, I dodnt like having to go to this hotel we should of had our own night club open and entertainment at our hotel which was much better, even our entertainment staff were sent to Riviara.

I will be returning to Abou Sofiance hotel again, it is a 15min walk to the town centre where you have a nice harbour shops where if you say no thank you is not as hussle as sousse or monistar so you can pick up some good bargains, also you have a little zoo, fun fair and the musical fountain that noramally goes off around 8pm every evening, Also the best night club in the area Platinum Metalica which is only a short cab ride, Cabs are very cheap way of getting around.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor room 2038 and I had a view of all the swimming pool and could see the sea very nice view

Having returned ,on the 15th of December ,decided to wait to post my review .I have had many holidays at Abou sofiane .

We are booked and have paid to visit there in March , after it will have been closed for eight weeks .

I sincerely hope they have got their act together ,otherwise they will lose loyal clients ,some who like myself visit many times a year , it was cold ,they had finished most of the entertainers ,leaving the remaining few -mannou ,jodie ,campa and lovely dj luca , who really tried to lok after everyone ,and who had to listen to complaints ,which should have been directed at the bosses not themselves .

I and my friend ,will not criticise the restaurant ,although many others have ,the service was very good there , and we were looked after always something for us ,i dont eat meat ,always found something .

The bar staff no problem ,although the only time we felt we had a drink was when we opened our own duty free, that is with the exception of the wine which was v.good , Thank you to 2 Billels who work hard in the bar good lads ,polite and hardworking ..We will see for ourselves in March if the Hotel is to be 80 % Russian clientele as Rumoured ,as nobody will answer my query ..

Room Tip: Half the hotel was closed ,was in opposite side to where i would recommend -top floor 2035 onward..

Well were could I possible begin, the rooms are in desperate need of a paint and a good wash, although the cleaner was in every day clean towels and bedding no issues, the staff would help you in any way they could but only if tipped the night before if not tipped it was like you were to no use and didn't want to help you at all, very ignorant people, the staff on reception was as useful as rocking horse at Aintree on Grand National Day, when I asked for an iron I got told to use the laundry service although the night before I saw the same person giving a iron out to another guest in the hotel, what is going on? Did they have an iron or not? Or was this another person I should have tipped for no reason just to get some thing out of later in my stay, on our last day in the resort my girlfriend was asked by a hotel member of staff if she could have here jeans that she was wearing at the time saying she had no money pleading poverty, I am sorry but I am no charity I go on holiday to enjoy not to be harassed, but this was not the case.no snack bar was available any day during my stay although it was advertised as it should be open. the food was ok but not a lot to choose from, day time activities were zero, The New Year's Eve gala meal was Terrible no it wasn't even that good, you didn't no what was to eat until you sat down at the table, alternatives were available which were chips or bread and my 2 year old daughter was with me and at half 10 had no food until her chips arrived, and when I did ask for alternatives I was told not available what else would I like, and this just went on and on.people who work with or for the hotel offer trips and don't like the word no for an answer I was asked every day. The night time activities that actually occurred got moved over to the other sister hotel so you could say they was no night time activities, being winter was cold at night and the heating was off, limited lighting in the bar area,no staff in the hotel could show any interest after new year as it was closing and we were just getting in the way, well if you read this and think I am lying think again I am not, I don't agree to pay money for full service and get half with staff who don't want to know you but just want your money, not a hotel or country will visit ever again, think twice before you go!

Room Tip: Don't go

we have stayed at the abou four times over the last seven years, although the alterations to the hotel are good especialy in the bar area ,the rooms havent changed and could do with a good overall the restrount is still the same with steap steps slippy when wet,so not so safe for persons with walking diffs, the drinks in the hotel are poor copys,on the up side the staff at the hotel are brill they cant do enough for you ,fatty behind the bar is brilliant, nabill in the restrount, and ben the manager is just a few that need a mention along with all the other staff, now for the down side as i say weve been going to this hotel for some time BUT this is the worst entertainment team ive ever seen they was crap, british girl jodie coudnt sing for her life, the comedy sketches was something else,we never saw them through the day unless somebody complained they tryed to entertain in the garla dinners but both were a disaster chrimbo and new year, unfortunatly its put us off comeing back although we will miss our friends among the staff, the food in the restrount is not too bad good choice although sometimes food could be hotter if any body from the hotel bothers to read the reviews ,please put the meat n veg pie back on a regular basis it was the best meal all fortnight, dont let my review put you off visiting this hotel it is normaly ok just a couple of things need sorting out by the new owners, hiya to bob chris n rachel n mark you made our holiday xxxx dec 18th to jan 1st 2014

We stayed at this hotel for a week in September for a week.

I can't see why people are complaining about this hotel but then again that's the good old English for you! If you expect to stay in the Ritz then you should pay for that. This hotel was very good value for the money!

The staff couldn't do more for you.

The hotel was clean and always being cleaned regularly. Our maid ensured our room was cleaned daily and even went out of her way to give us clean beach and towels daily.

The variety and choice of hot and cold food at each meal times was very good. There was always a choice of pasta, pizza, salad etc. Of course there is going to be traditional Tunisian type foods on the menu you are in their country, you have to respect this but there was plenty of choice if you didn't want to try certain things. We had two meals in the restaurants which were very nice and enjoyable.

The security staff were brilliant especially on the beach ensuring you do not get bothered by the local beach sellers.

The entertainment staff certainly went to a lot of effort to provide the non professional entertainment at night and by the pool side.

The beauty Salon and Massage services were brilliant and value for money.

Overall this hotel was great, great location, staff and food. Would defiantly go back!
