Where to start ! Had to wait about 2 hours for our room to be ready- on opening the door the smell of stale smoke hit you. Our room was VERY dated and tired - the wall attachment for the shower over the bath was ripped off the wall and lying in the bath ( a call to reception did result in it being repaired tho') The fridge did not work either. During the 7 days my friend and I stayed here we only ever had tepid water for showering , sometimes even cold !!
We were only half board ( thankfully !! ) the dining room is totally chaotic with hundreds of people at each meal. The tables (when you get one !!) are carelessly set and the waiters very uninterested in the guests. The food is horrible - plenty of choice tho' if you want to eat it !!( as a lot of the all inclusive guests seemed to think they must eat as much as possible as they had paid for it !!!) The cakes and deserts are good tho' - the manners of some of the guests are unbelievable - while waiting in the queue for a slice of a fruit tart the "lady" in front of me scraped all the fruit off the entire tart onto her plate and left the tart bare !!!!!
We only had one evening meal ( the first night ) in the restaurant and it wasn't a pleasant experience. We went down to a couple of restaurants in Port El Kantaoui for the rest of the week and had some lovely seabass and it was very reasonably priced too. (see Trip Advisor -no .1 rated restaurant in the port)
This hotel is at best 2-3 * so don't expect more. If you are used to UK standards you are in for a shock !! However the rooms were kept clean and the towels and bed linen changed every day.
The pool area is also quite pleasant although quite crowded.

As a young couple looking for a calm, relaxing holiday we didnt find any good in this hotel. We are not kind of people who look after the flaws, but this was unbearable.
Room: we took sea view room, hoping for a better rooom, but it is really dated, old blankets, bathroom toilet was broken and the showe water temerature switched from burning hot to ice cold always, so it was an adventure everytime. The ac was good, and the room is spacy. The fridge is also provided.
Service: waiters are very unkind. We tipped a lot, and because of that were treated good in some occasions, but when we didnt, they wouldnt clean our tables at the restourant, give us drinks, and it was more stresfull than helpful to be dependent on them. The food quality was allright, standard buffet.
In the main bar the service was good, and there are pool tables so that was kind of fun.
Animation group is good and trying to keep everyone animated with games and dancing.
Suprisingly the beach was dirty, they dont clean that area, so the pool was a better option for us.
Location is really bad. Around the hotel there are only stores with fake, cheep stuff, but the city itself is very dirty and everyone is staring at you if you want to walk.
We would never go back here. It was a bad expirience, and therefore I wish no one will make a mistake like we did.

I don't usually take much notice of reviews because find some people moan at the slightest thing, but I felt I had to write one about this hotel... Please avoid it like the plague, and whoever rates this hotel must have very very low standards, the food is truly awful, cauliflower and carrots on breakfast rays, no cereals at all, I lived on fried eggs all week, which were cooked very snotty, we were all inclusive but there was no snacks at all in between breakfast and lunch, or lunch and dinner, or after dinner, so it was just really like bed breakfast and evening meal, the lunch and dinner was truly horrendous and seemed to cater more for the Eastern Europeans and Russians, which the hotel was full off, they ran out of dinner plates so people had to wait while some were washed up, then they ran out of tables so at the doors of the restraint their was a 20person plus queue, the meals were repetitive, if it wasn't eaten for dinner, then it was served up for lunch the next day, the rooms were very very shabby and when the maid came in, only changed the bed, never cleaned sinks, toilets etc, my friend and her daughter came with us, who is 17 year old and blonde and very pretty, and she was constantly hassled by the men staff to go out with them, never been to a hotel like it, it was truly truly awful, nothing good to say and I am a very seasoned traveller

I read many reviews before booking this hotel but on arrival we were impressed,me and my husband wanted a relaxing week and this is what we got!!! The reception staff were very helpful and not rude like many people said, the waiters were very attentive in restaurant!! Most of the bar staff were brilliant apart from 2,advice if sitting watching the entertainment order more than one drink for yourself as there not very quick on bringing your drinks out,at end of week we had to complain to bar manager that we had sat for an hour put 3 orders in and not one drink!! He resolved this matter very quickly and apologised!! We found it best going for dinner on the second seating as waiter had advised us it was better not so busy he was right!!! We had a superior room which was lovely, very clean and modern and the cleaner does not take your towels away at 9am every morning nor do they want to get in and clean they wait for You to leave the room!!! I felt very sorry for the staff for how they were treated by some nationalities no manners just demanding all the time and very rude!!!! In all this is a lovely hotel and lovely staff only downside is very poor entertainment for a five star hotel, one night it was a man on an organ, gelt like a working mans club not five star hotel but would definitely go back as your near to the harbour and plenty going on down there domu don't need to suffer the hotels entertainment if I don't want to!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room

Returned from this hotel, after spending 10 days at beginning of Sept.
Experience at airport both ways was disgraceful, long queues, dis-organisation, poor security and corrupt passport handlers who are only interested in your left-over holiday currency!
Confusion regarding transfers to hotel also gave us a bad start to our holiday.
When arriving at the hotel were told to sit, before eventually being told the hotel was over-booked and offered a room at another hotel for 2 nights. As this had been booked since March, we felt strongly and refused to go. This resulted in us being thrown keys of another room and given no direction or hand with our luggage. Room was dirty and musty with punch hole in door. We refused this room and were eventually given acceptable one. Good, quiet position too so no problems sleeping.
Room - Clean, maids in everyday and fresh towels and bedding, air-conditioning was great.
Service - After tipping, appeared to be accepted, but felt as if being Scottish were second rate citizens (except from older bar-man, who was very friendly and offered good service)
Dining Area - After tipping were treated very well and always had a table, however did feel awkward at times as others were left hanging around without a table. After establishing we were getting a table, however it was dictated by the waiter which sitting to attend and what time to dine. Queues were unbelievable for food / plates and some other residents acted like animals, having no manners what so ever.
Beach - private beach was dirty, papers, cigarette buts and condoms floating in the water. Avoid!!
Pool - Great big swimming pool which appeared to be clean and spacious areas around. Pool restaurant was also best in the complex.
Golf - Contrary to website, the usable golf-course which is opposite hotel cannot be used, unless documentation of handicap is provided. 25mins away there is another course and the golf pro "Tiger" offers packages for this.
Spa - nice clean spa, bit pricey and be aware staff speak very little English, we were ushered through various treatments unaware as to what was coming next, slightly daunting and uncomfortable.
Entertainment - Didn't see much as had a stomach bug from day 2 (having travelled to various places and eaten out frequently have never experience this! Even with using bottled water only!) and spent most evenings in the room.
Marina - Not worth a visit unless happy to dine with cats at next table to you, and a not too safe environment ( at nigh time anyway).
Currency - Required to change at hotel due to long queues at Airport. Hotel would not change back and had to take to airport to change back, however if had waited in queues would have missed flights, resulting in very happy passport controllers!
Smoking - allowed in certain areas but did drift through public areas.
Weather - FANTASTIC
Overall, not even a 4 star hotel, poor hygiene in beach area and some parts of dining area. Service and priority given to German, French, Russian and Eastern Europeans..oh and ladies with blonde hair! Not welcoming to British, well in our case Scottish guests.
Would not return to Tunisia, no Health and Safety or Hygiene policies or procedures.

Room Tip: Don't be shy in refusing if room is not acceptable, and ask for an alternative.

We have just got back from 10 days at this Hotel and i must say after reading what everyone had put on here i was a little apprehensive to say the least, We could not fault the Hotel at all, we have had the most amazing time here total relaxing Holiday just what we was after, We was not pressured in to giving tips and we only did if the service we got was good, We went half board and i can not fault the food in anyway, every night i enjoyed my meal and there was always pleanty to choose from we had omlettes each morning for breakfast, for evening meals there was so much to choose from fish, lamb, chicken. we found the food to be one of the best we have had. the room yes dated but very very clean, in fact everwhere was clean, theres pleanty to do at the resort if you want it, which we dident we just wanted to relax read and enjoy the sunshine and that is what we got, i used the spa facilitys and i must say they where pleasent and relaxing, We never used the gym as we were on holiday, this i can do at home, the pool area was clean and tidy the pool itself was lovely, we spent most time down on the beach as it felt a bit cooler there, The Piano bar was where we spent most nights as we where not all inclusive the bar man was very attentive and could not do enough for you. The entertainment was ok, they not the best but they did a good job to keep guests entertained each night. The maids always left us a little surprise when we got back to the room, ie towels arranged in fans, the beds made with fancy arrangements, my dress which i left folded on the foor arranged in to a fan on the bed, my shoes all laid out. It was just all these little extras that made it feel rather nice. over all this holiday was amazing and i would return tommorow if i could.

Room Tip: I would go all inclusive next time. Beach towels changed each day a small deposit required. 10 dina...

I stayed in this hotel for one week in September. I made a reservation in March for an older person and myself yet when we arrived we were shown to rooms a distance away from lifts and main hotel - stayed there for first night - hotel changed rooms the next day but smell of smoke in my room not good - staff at reception not friendly - too big a hotel and evening entertainment was very basic - Port El Kantaoui grand if you just want a sun holiday staying around the pool but for the real Tunisia wouldn't recommend this resort. The hotel can accommodate up to 1,000 people and standard of food in the restaurant in the evening was very basic. I wont be returning. As previous guest have said felt hassled into giving tips - after 6 days I was tipped out. Shame as I decided to try out Tunisia as had such wonderful holidays in Agidir, Morocco.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and before you settle in check air conditioning and phone a...
