Booked the Neptunia Beach as we got a good price for a cheap get away, so wasn’t expecting 4 star quality. This is 2 star at best.
Checkin was quick, but arriving at 1.30 in the morning it would have been nice to have been offered a cold drink, even if it was only a cold bottle of water.
Our first impression of our room was clean but basic, the lady who cleaned our room was so lovely and even put a line up outside for us to dry the small amount of washing we done. Our air con was really good, we had to pay a £10 deposit for the remote control, a further £10 deposit for tv remote control and if you want a safe, they are based behind reception and cost a small fee along with a £10 deposit for the key. There are no hair dryers in the rooms even though it is advertised on their web page, you can hire them, but we had no luck in getting one in 14 days, so take your own.
Beach towels are available but they are not very big and require a £10 deposit, a few times on changing dirty for clean towels there were none available and did wait as long as 90 minutes for clean ones to arrive.
Pool area is kept clean, pool toilets were always very clean but did sometimes run out of toilet roll. Beach has beautiful white soft sand, there are water sports you can pay for although we didn’t partake in any of these activities they did seem quite popular, we had a rather bad storm and the state of the beach the following day was heart breaking to see, the amount of plastic that was washed up really makes you understand how much plastic is actually in our oceans, the beach clean up was done really fast and the men doing the clean up worked extremely hard, not only to clean up the plastic the the amount of seaweed etc that had also all been washed up, a big bravo the the guys who work on the beach, some may complain about the mess on the beach but there is nothing that can be done about bad weather, but a lesson to you all is to take ALL your rubbish with you.
Animation team was average and only seemed to want to get the younger Russians involved in the club dances etc, some seemed to be better than others when going around guests talking, the girls seemed to be a little friendlier.
Many have complained about the “all inclusive” drinks, if you like beer, vodka, water, tango and sprite you will be fine, but for those of us who only drink sugar free there is no option but to purchase sugar free cola at 3.5 dinar for a can, or the shop sells bottles for 4, so a cheaper option, but didn’t think having to buy sugar free soft drinks was very acceptable, we actually took our own spirits so we could could drink what we liked.
The hotel restaurant was clean and almost all the staff very friendly, a special mention to the gentleman who always saw us to a table and got us drinks, the young lady who cleared away tables and the young lady who cooked the eggs in the morning. Salad was varied and plentiful, the soup was the same every lunch and dinner for the 2 weeks. The food was at best average but definitely aimed at the Russian and German guests. If you like eggs, liver, rice and water melon in abundance you will probably enjoy.
The hotel policy of check out by noon is a little antiquated, we had over a 9 hour wait for our transfer, and would have thought a little flexibility of possibly keeping the room until around 5pm, as guests arrive and leave at all hours of the day and night, we were willing to pay for this and came as a bit of a shock as we had never encountered this before.
Finally the Reception staff, on the whole the people who work behind the desk are nice and helpful, albeit the blonde lady who I believe was called Angela, she told me once she spoke no English!!!!! REALLY??? Prior to our leaving this resort my sister commented to me that we were being talked about and gestures where being made between her and the younger barman, when we walked from the restaurant back to the bar area this lady couldn’t even look us in the face, my sister said there is definitely something up, just remember body language and gestures are same regardless of what language you speak!!!!! the very nice gentleman came over to us from reception and said that an accusation had been made that we had stolen drinking glasses, we were somewhat gob smacked, but he did say that when we were pointed out he couldn’t believe it and that he was shocked, when we questioned it, he said a guest had made the accusations. He did actually apologise as we left, so thank you for that.
Although no more was said with no further actions this certainly marred the end of our holiday leaving a very bad taste in our mouths, this lady needs to be taught some lessons in people skills and body language, never ever has anyone treated us so awful with no apology, I hope she is proud of herself.
Would we return to Neptunia Beach? NO NEVER
