“Amazing! 3rd time here! you must go!!”
Reviewed September 15, 2010

This is the 3rd time I have been to the sahara beach and again it did not let me down! It was my first holiday with my partner who was quite sceptical of Tunisia but within an hour here he was already saying how he wanted to return in the following years!

After a pleasant flight over, we arrived at the airport which was abit chaotic (only downside) we were queing along with 100-200+ others to go through passport control, was quite hot, even in the evening so will advise to take some sort of fanning object, once through it was a swift and quick transaction, luggage was ready, along with coaches, transfer took 5-10 minutes which is great!

Check in was simple! fill out a 5 minute form, get given your all inclusive wristband and room key and off you go. about 2 minutes later the portors come up with your luggage, we gave £1 tip however they do not hint for one

We arrived just before midnight and they kept the restraunt open for us so we could eat so we headed down there for a quick nibble before bed where we met our waiter for the week and were given our own table. I though this was a great idea!

We never had a problem getting a sun lounger, even when we strolled down at 10am. the pools are lovely!! you have to give all of them a go several time as they all have their pros! the lagoon pool is perfect for the hot mid day sun!!. the entertainment pool is also great! always funny watching the water aerobics! the entertainment team were alway lively from morning to late evening! they deserve a medal for everthing they do! daytime entertainment is a laugh and there is lots to do!

The food was great, always different choices to be had. in the restraunt was buffet style and there was a pizza part where you requested what you want and they made it fresh in front of you, the pancakes are also a must! lots of fresh fruit and sugary puddings! the waiters were always smiley and chatty, a well deserved tip at the end of the stay!

the beach was literally a 1 minute walk away and was private so not much hassle to be had there, they had plenty of sun loungers, volley ball courts and water sports were on the beach. a must try is the paraglyding, very inexpensive and a real great experience!

sometimes you get hassled to buy things from the strip to the restraunts but just say no and they will leave you alone for the rest of your stay, we brought a few good fakes from the handbag shops... you must haggle as you can reduce their price by almost half! dont pay more than you want to, walk away and they will soon follow you and accept your price!

the rooms are standard but just what you need for an all inclusive stay! you can upgrade to a suite for £75 which has much more and late checkout is avaliable

the hotel has an on site photographer which you have to book, me and my partner booked, the photo shoot is free and you can choose to go into the hotels beautiful gardens or inside behind a fall-down. we chose outside as the grounds are so perfect! there is no obligation to buy but once you see the photos, they are that amazing that you want to buy! it is £3/6dinar for a print of a good size and quality, we ended up buying loads! when we showed them back home, familied thought we had got married out there because they were that good and great quality! a must do!!

What more can I say?! this place has everything, no need to go of-site, everything is here, mini gold, horse riding, sports, camels, shops, resraunts! only the real fussy can complain about it. go and see for your self, you wont be dissapointed!

We paid £1875 for a week for a family of four with a 15 year old and a 6 year old for August Bank Holiday week Sunday to Sunday from Bristol.
We all had a great time, the hotel was great, the kids club and teen club were good, the evening entertainment was good. The beer was drinkable and the food was good. There was loads of variety of food from Tunisian to Pizza, to salad and chips, omelettes and much much more - even the fussiest of eaters or vegetarians could happily have variety and choice each day.
The hotel itself was fine, we had a family room which was 2 twin bed rooms with an adjoining door, so 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, 2 front doors - which was great.
The hotel has loads to do and is secure.
We had a great time, not been to Tunisia before and now we've been.
My biggest bit of advice is to factor in some tip money - it starts at the airport and it goes on all week. From the bloke who tries to take your luggage to the coach, to the the bloke that brings your sunbed mattress to the person who cleans your room, your waiter breakfast, lunch and dinner, the bloke who insists that he takes your luggage to your room, the bloke at the mini golf who lets you finish your 20 holes and you go over the hour, the coach driver, the taxi driver, the tour guide on your day out, the head waiter who gives you a nice table at the start of the week, absolutely everyone wants a tip. If you give them all 2 dinar (80p), everytime they do anything for you you'll have a much better time! Our room was cleaned meticulously, we all had 2 drinks waiting on our restaurant table every time we went for food, nothing was nicked from our room! Tunisia is poor, the holiday is really good value, I took £600 spending money and came back with £200, new clothes, 'designer' goods, loads of stuff from the shops and had a great holiday. Be sure to change your money £100 at a time as they charge you loads to change it back at the airport. If you don't like haggling don't go in the shops and never ever pay the first price they say - remember nothing costs them much and they are all on the take.
Oh and don't listen to the wingers - the hotel is full of them when you're there as well as on this site, mainly English people who have scrimped and saved for their 3 star all inclusive and are expecting the Ritz when they get there. If you think the holiday is £400-500 each, knock off the flight, it's £50 (ish) per person per day - 3 four or five course meals every day, loads of booze, ice creams, stuff to do all day long, sunny every day, good animation team, good kids club, good entertainment, loads of choice - absolutely brilliant. Forget the poor reviews - put it into perspective - there is nothing wrong with this holiday - it's brilliant!

I was so worried about going here after I had read the reviews but i need not have worried. We all had a fantastic time.
The children's entertainers were brill with the children and ours loved the mino disco. The adult entertainment started too late in the evening, I had small children so I didn't catch any of it.
The rooms ideal for what we used it for showering and sleeping, the views were amazing!
Staff all very pleasant, cleaner did a spot on job, waiters both friendly and efficient, bar staff no problems. We tipped those we thought deserved tipping and this was done at the end of our stay.
The beach was amazing as were the pools, we split our time between the two. Horse riding needs mentioning as the children loved it, good value for money - an hour for £12.50. The staff here looked after the children very well.
The only downfall to this hotel is the size, it is far too big and for this reason I would not return. It felt like a town rather than a hotel and all staff were always busy. If this is not a problem for you then you will enjoy.
Everyone is different and a holiday is what you make it and we made ours fab!!

After reading the reviews on here we were a little worried about going to the sahara beach but we need'nt have worried about the hotel itself.
The airport is a nightmare we queued for 1 hour 45 mins to get through passport control even though we filled out the information card on the plane. After that it was a very swift transfer with 1 drop off before our hotel which took 10 minutes in total. Next year the transfer time will be 1 hour 30 mins from the new airport.

There were only 6 people arriving at this time so check in was very fast even though it was only 11 am our room was ready, most other places we have been have made us wait until between 12 and 2pm.
The rooms are small as commented on by other reveiwers with only 1 plug socket which was high above the mirror.
We asked to be shown one of the suites, of which they have 23 which you can pay an extra £75 to stay in. The suites are large with a tv, fridge, 2 balconies, a sofa, coffee tables, dressing table, large bathroom with twin basins and a hairdryer and ample plug sockets. So we paid the extra and stayed in the suite which was very enjoyable. The room was on the 7th floor and we slept like babies and never heard a thing at night.

The inside areas of the hotel are a little tired but the pools more than make up for that, in fact i would say that if the rooms and interior were renovated it could go up a star as the pools and grounds are gorgeous. We never had any trouble getting a sunbed either by the pool or beach. My only complaint about the beach is that the swimming area is roped off from the watersports and as the sea is so shallow you cabnt get to any depth before the ropes stop you. Other than that the beach is clean, the water clear and you can watch camels and horses go by. Never saw any jellyfish or animal poo !!!
The staff are on the whole very friendly and polite, as in all walks of life you get some people who are not but thats life.
Our waiter for the week Mohammed was lovely and although we were there during Ramadam we never felt in any way that this influenced the service we got. The food was good we never went hungry and my husband is a fussy eater. We tipped the waiter and the cleaner at the end of the week.
No problems in the commercial strreet on the way to the resteraunt we brought 2 spin rings from the very nice jeweller, well worth a look, no pressure to buy. He even tells you to take what you like from the display cabinets to have a look. You cant do that in the UK!!!
All in all we had a very good week, weather was fab. We never went to the shows so cant comment on those, we also never left the complex, we wanted a relaxing week to unwind and thats exactly what we got. We will definately return in the future.

the reason for the title is simple if you are after a holiday of sitting by the pool or on the bveach all day n quiet evenings then this is the place but if your looking for a place where you can roam and go out in the evenings then this is not for you.

the hotel is basic but good, staff most very friendly and helpfull. pools are amazing 5 types really. activity pool - music ,games, diving. indoor pool - quiet and shallow. kids pool surrounded by sun loungers ideal for parents. and two pools for the allsorts.
beach is the best part along the strip.

Food - hit n miss really very repetitive but you have to consider THIS IS A HOTEL THAT COULD HOLD UPTO 2000 plus so the food is cooked "to feed the 5000" style do not expect amazing but to a good standard.

reps were very good.

rooms very basic but cleaned to a good standard - at the end of the day u wake up, shower and fall asleep there.

entertainment was funny but not amazing considering most is done by the animation team who are not exactly hollywood a-listers they do a good job.

Enjoyed the trips through Thomas cook. - medina walk, afican dream and camel caravan.

spent two weeks here but felt isolated as it really is a row of hotels along the beach. but still had a great first holiday away with the girlfriend!

Brilliant holiday perfect for me and my daughter of 13.
Thomas cook reps at your beck and call... thanks Rhianne and Marina!

hotel
the hotel itself was what we expected and more. it was ridiculously clean. (you never see them stop cleaning) the food was quite difficult to prepare because everyone likes something different but they try to please everyone which we respected. the pizzas and omelettes were delicious! pools great. beach great. entertainment OK but the Michael Jackson show was unbelievably good! also the beach bar was nice to relax and cheap. All staff friendly apart from one of the porters who was disappointed with us for only giving him £1 for carrying our bags into a lift and in a corridor. There are several bars scattered around the hotel and all nice and clean.

tunisia
It was our first time to tunisia and certainly wont be our last, as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The country is very respectful, welcoming and friendly. The medina's were interesting but my daughter wasn't impressed as she felt a bit intimidated but i loved it as i like cultural experiences. monastir was the closest shopping town but sousse was alot bigger and better. if you go into monastir it was about 8 dinar which is only £4 and a good afternoon out. the castle is enjoyable if your willing to pay a little fee to enter.

Could not wait to get home. Staff at the hotel were very rude, especially in the bars and at reception. The only nice people were the waiters and that was only because they wanted a tip. Rooms not big enough for 3 people, no storage space for clothes and suitcases although it was very clean in the room.
I will never be beack here
