We enjoyed our holiday at the Sahara Beach hotel in August this year. The facilities are a little dated in places, but with regard to cleanliness and the food, there isn't much to grumble about. There are lots of activities going on to get involved with if you wish or you can completely relax. Something for everyone. The beach is beautiful. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful on the whole. We had a suite which is one large family room. It was clean and comfortable. There was lots of choice with the food and it was of a good standard. There was always something the kids would eat which is brilliant for anyone who has picky eaters like ourselves! We mainly stayed around the kids pool as our children are still quite little and I can honestly say the life guards were brilliant at their job which gave you extra security with little ones in deep water. Some people were moaning about the hotel in general whilst we were there but to be quite honest it is a three star plus and if you want five star luxury you have to pay five star prices not three star!!! We would definitely visit this hotel again as we had a lovely time but maybe go a little later or earlier in the year (May/October time) as the weather was extremely hot.

Ok , where shall we start !! Just got back on the 30 th september, thank god.
As soon as you get to the airport you will get ripped of with your luggage, they want money to put it on the coach, sterling usually a couple of quid,.
We stopped at the Sahara Beach Hotel, 5 mins away from the airport. I will tell you now , you wont get much sleep with aircraft flying over, bloody noisy.
As soon as we got to the reception, the place was full of smoke !!! Cigarette smoke, fags in other words,,the brochure didnt say anything about smoking any where. One of us is a bad athmatic, not one person at thomsons told us that you can smoke anywhere you like. If they told us about smoking we would not have gone !!
After some paperwork the man at reception did the all inclusive card and then the porter took us to our room, another tip, sterling again .
The room was small , pokey, no room to swing a cat. No fridge , no amenaties at all .. Poor beds, made out of wood.. Bathroom was a shambles, the lights were falling out, the ceiling was falling in & no shower head holder.. oh and cigerette burns everywhere.
Told reception , they didnt want to now !! They will just shrug there shoulders.
When you go for something to eat in the restuarant be prepared to be pestered by tunisian hagglers. Yes we were surprised too ! They will not leave you alone till you buy some of there junk. After a few days youll feel like murdering them !
The food is crap !! Eggs , pancakes , pizzas followed by a good helping of flys !! Its dirty , flys every where. We had stomach bugs galore. The staff are very rude , ignorant and miserable . They are only happy when you give them money , tips...
The hotel has plenty of pools, but beware not to slip.
The beach is full of cigerette ends , bottles , and sea weed. The sunbeds are freely available, but you need the cushions that they provide,,oh and they want more tips off you for the service . By now as you may have noticed, they treat us like cash cows !!
The entertainment was poor .
The place is like colditz, locked in with no where else to go. But we thought we could trust them, a big mistake. He said" i will take you some where nice." MY BACKSIDE!!! It was a shanty so called "government building", trying to sell you god dam carpets, and very forcefull too.
Beware off perverts !! We had a 14 year old girl with us , she was offered sex while in the sea, she was continued being pestered while in the sea too!! She was lucky too get away.
Putting it in a nutshell,,,,,,,,DONT GO "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im sure that the watchdog should take a look at this dump.
A message to thomsons,,, i want my hard earned money back !!!!

awful, awful, awful,

Firstly, the attitude of the staff in the Hotel was, at best, surly. At the Sahara Beach, each and every member of staff expected some form of tip even if they were rude. An example of this was with the porters, who asked us if we would like our bags taking to the lift- we were less than 10 metres away from the doors to the lift. When we both expressed that we would like to take our own luggage, the porter simply snatched the suitcases from our hands and then, once he had arrived at the lift, jangled the change he had in his pocket and waited until we gave him the small amount of change we had on us.

This sort of behaviour was mimicked throughout the hotel, from pool and bar staff to waiters and reception staff, our room cleaner even begged us to buy him some water.

Secondly were the standard of the rooms. The room we booked through our travel agent, as described in the brochures are “light and spacious… with good sized balconies.” This, in our opinion could not be further from the truth!! The room we had been allocated had just enough room for 3 beds. There was no room to put away suitcases, there were 6 hangers in half a wardrobe and one power socket. The balcony only had 2 chairs, for a room for 3. We were so unhappy with the size of the room we asked our rep, Baz, if we could up-grade to a larger room. We found out that there were no ‘Junior Suites’ available until the Wednesday, and they would be and extra 100 dinars.
Loads of other issues!!

1.Reliability of hotel lifts. We were constantly getting stuck between floors and having to use the stairs on a 7 storey building.
2.There were damp and mouldy patches in restaurant.
3. The Pizzeria and Moorish Restaurant were not part of the all-inclusive, and many drinks after midnight.
4. Children’s games arcade was dirty and many games were broken, or broke during use- with no staff to refund the money the children had put in the machines ( there were also power sockets hanging out of the wall!)
5. The bird ‘Zoo’ is disgusting with the animals living in poor conditions, with little or no water.
6. Proximity to airport, from our up-graded room we could clearly see aeroplanes landing at taking off.. but if you like plane spotting this is the place for you!
7.Not enough sun beds for the number of guest staying at the resort- in order to have a sun bed you had to be up at 7am.

oh and make sure you have plenty of english notes with you as there is no ATM on the hotel grounds and you cant get currency off your credit card
The one ok thing about the hotel is the pools you could never get a sunbed- but the pools never felt crowed. The local water park isnt that good either! We did go on the african dance evening which good night out, and a welcome change from the hotel.

We have just got back from Sahara beach with my byfriend and 3 other couples. I was pleasently surprised after reading all the horrific reviews before we left and had a fab time.

The hotel does look a bit shabby and needs a bit of an update and rooms are small but to be honest who goes on holiday to spend the whole time in your room?? The pools were fanatastic and as I am cabin crew and stay in a lot of various hotels around the world, I have to say the pools were better than some carribean ones I have stayed in!! beach was not all that but think that was due to the amount of storms they have had in sept (very unusual for this time of year).
The entertainment team were fab and didnt see our boyfriends for most of the day as they were off playing footie, water polo and lots more. The nightly entertainment was sometimes fab (ie Michael Jackson night) although if rains they have to bring inside and is not as good as outside, but cannot believe other guests were complaining when clearly they cannot help the weather!!
If travelling with kids I would suggest to bring things for them incase does rain as they struggle o keep 3000 pepole happy at once!! Athough other guests would have thought they were the only ones there and demanded they give there full attention to them!!
Food was good, and no where near as bad as what people say, I am very fussy and ate every night, you could always get pasta, rice pizza and puddings were lush!!
My only real bugg bear was..... the other guests!! I cannot believe the amount of brits that are so so rude!! The walls are paper thin and no matter how quiete you are it still sounds like a heard of elephants. I admit my party were nosy on the 1st night but were very tame after that, all though we still had complaints it wasnt us it was some kids playing knock down ginger at 4am. It would have been nice for these guests to come to us rather than shouting the odds in reception and ganging up on one girl out of our party!!
Tipping gets you the best sevice and our water was the BEST! He had our table decorated for our last night. Deff reccomend going the the photographer we got some brill piccies of us all.
Go to the markets in sousse had a good day out even in the rain and got some right bargains...... and having 4 blonde girls we didnt get hassled once result!!
Drinks oustide in palstic cups due to being round the pool, so if you want a glass go to the 24hour bar and get a glass (my boyfriend managed to keep hold of this all week ha ha).
All in all a very good hols except the massive storm on day we came home (cannot be helped) and the other guests who should realise the hotel does its best and if you want 5 star treament then book and 5 star hotel!!

Just back from the Sahara Beach, we went as a party of 7 adults & 2 kids. Had A lovely time. I was a bit worried after reading some very bad reviews. Transfer from Airport 10 min, check in very good. I would get a taxi rather than paying for transfers as it only costs about £5 each way. Standard rooms very small and basic but we upgraded to a suit wich was a god send as it was much bigger had a tv & fridge, two balcony's & a large bathroom with double sinks. If you are travelling with more than one child i recommend you do this as family rooms are just two standard rooms with interconnecting doors & i did not feel safe leaving my two small children in the room on there own as there was no locks on the balcony doors. Rooms get a basic quick clean every day but not fantastic, even if you do tip. Food very good, i was a bit worried as i'm a very fussy eater & do not like anything spicy but no problems there always something nice to eat, same as most all inclusive hotel gets a bit repetative but don't they all, i have been to a dozen over the years. Beware there are quiet a few fly's about especially the outside snack bars.
Drink, the usual the more you tip the stronger they get. We found a lovely waiter who was happy to take drink to us down by the pool, thanks Imed. Pools fantastic, great for the kids. Sunbeds a bit of a problem, yes i resorted to putting towels down at 6am as with two younge kids who were in the pools from dawn till dusk, & i could not take my eye of them for a second it was important to be beside the pool edge. But why do we need to tip for matresses i don't know ? Never had this before. Beach a bit of a dissapointment, storm hit day we arrived and lots of seaweed & crap brought ashore, such a shame as water was like a bath but smelt horrid and i could not bear to be in it. I don't understand why they never had tractors clearing the beach each day, but semingly the weeks before we arrived the beach was lovely. Just bad timming i think. Watersport very cheap & good fun. Entertainment good for a 3* hotel a bit for everyone, kids disco, tombola, show & Disco. Michael Jackson shown was fab. Plenty for kids to do. As usual everything cost a fortune in the shops so if your not willing to go out and about and do some serious haggling, make sure you take plenty of everything you need, incuding kids toys, suntan lotion, inflatables for the pool as for example they charge about £20 for a cheap inflatable lielow. Kids toy shop on way to resturant sells some very cheap nasty toys that break within a day and cost you an arm & a leg, take some light up toys from home to save you some money. We went to Sousse & Monistar shopping, my husband & i did not mind it but my parents hated it as they did not like all the hasseling & hard selling, they only lasted about 20 min and returned to the hotel as i said if your into bartering with them you can get some good bargains. Lastly but definatly not least is the Art Of Hatem a photographer situated at the entrance of the main dinning room, i read many reviews about his work and was looking forward to getting some family photo's done while we were staying at the hotel. His work is amazing. He is so busy & work really hard. I would advise booking a session with him on your fisrt day. Free Shoot No Obligation To Buy. For only 5 dinar per photo ( £2.50 ) We bought about 50 photo's. Such good quality & takes his time getting that perfect photo even from my restless 1 year old. How do our school photographers get off with charging £8 a photo and are lucky if they get a smile out of the kids ? Thank you so much Hatem. Keep up the great work.
Overall this was a very enjoyable holiday & was pretty much what i had expected for a three star hotel.

Arrived 11 pm unpacked when to bed, woke with a start at 7am, doors banging, children running up and down the central corridor shouting. Then late at night into the early moring with adults who do not know how to close a door quietly.

We had limited variation on breakfast, dinner and lunch which could have been improved and a rather rude chef on the omeletter request at breakfast. You could get pancakes in the afternoon by the pool. Pool and animation team were good.

As for fully inclusive this did not cover other restaurants and bars within the complex you had to pay for the food and drink, This we were not expecting.

Rooms are very basic and small, bathroom in need of a serious update.

Rep was notified of our issues asked if we would like to be moved what would be the point, other people were complaining of footballs being kicked along the corridors and loud music being played

If you are looking for a fairly quiet comfortable hotel, this is not the one to book
