Just come back from a week at this resort and we had a great time .check in was quite quick and effortless and for a couple of diners our luggage was bought to our room. the staff were all very friendly and happy to assist with any queries .the room we stayed in was very basic no tea making facilities or tv but was cleaned every day .the only thing that let this hotel down for us was the noise you expect to get from a high rise hotel and the food was pretty much the same every day although it was nice a lot of French people stay at the hotel and the food was more catered for them than English people having said that we didn't go hungry.all in all we had a great time and don't really have anything bad to say

Room Tip: We had a room with interconnecting door which was ideal for us travelling with teenagers .if you go...

Lots have been said about the hotel and i agee with a lot of the good and bad comments. The rooms could be better the shower im my room i think was fitted when the Ark was bulit but it worked well and plenty of water finished on the bathrrom floor but, saying that the outlook was brilliant and the balcony gave you privacy and not overlooked and my room was cleaned every day and the towels changed.

The food was adequate but it you had to look around to find the different foods. The aviary in the dinig room was quite noticeable and the cats where allowed to wander around, but my main concern was mothers with pushchairs wandering around the Hot food counters ! and dont forget the chidren riding round the restraunt on scooters!! I was moved 3 times onto different tables.

The Reception area was adequate giving you acces to the main bar and the entertainment room however the ceilling are very low therfore the area became very hot with no air circulating through. It was niosey esp with the Cocktail maker going of every few minutes in the evening and there is one thing i really object to is queing for drinks.

I agree you only get what u pay for and if you like Holidays with plenty going on and you have a young family then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: ask for a high room on the East side overlooking the Aqua Park and dont have room 1517

Please ignore the bad reviews.....Sahara Beach is a 3 star hotel so you will only get what you pay for!! (you want 5 star quality then you have to pay 5 star prices!!)My friend and I went for a week at the end of September and we had a fantastic time. our room, although basic, was cleaned everyday and the maids were lovely, of whom we only tipped on the last day which never affected there attitudes to us!! Both of our waiters were lovely, had our drinks waiting everyday and can't do enough for you who again, we only tipped on the last day and they are so appreciative of 20 dinar which is £8!!!!! the animation team were fantastic, ok entertainment wasn't amazing but was quite often funnier due to this!! but again i say it is 3 star!!!!!!! However, the team never failed to say hello and sit and chat with you. We took part in all the excursions and hotel activities which were dirt cheap!! Al a carte restaurant was amazing and again waiters lovely without tipping. We were at the pool latest of 9 everyday and never failed to get a bed, yes you tip for a mattress but thats half a dinar each which is about 20p!! the beach is beautiful, pools are always clean and we never failed to see people cleaning around the hotel!! Sahara beach is what you make it, you need an open mind but we loved it so much our families are coming next year and we have already re-booked for april!! Hope this helps :)

just got back from a week away with my wife and 3 year old daughter 17/10/2012 - 24/10/2012. Upon arrival at 11am on wednesday the 17/10/2012 we were greeted, rounded up to get our wrist bands and room keys which was great. A porter assisted us to our room and helped with a bag and small roller luggage but once we explained that we had not got any money to tip he dropped our bag and kicked it before walking out, once we got the the room and walked in the first thing i looked to was another door as i was certain that this was just one of the bedrooms but alas no. The room was half the size of my living room at home (sadly i do not live in am mansion) i would hazard a guess that the room was about 14'x22' filled with 3x single beds and a small walk in shower / toilet. From the Thomas cook / loveholiday website we were under the impression that all rooms were a goodsize and had televisions, fridges etc etc. in a hotel that is capable of holding over 1000+ guests only 17 of the rooms were 'de luxe' which cost us am additional £80 for 6 nights. This room was fine but did't wow enough to mask our disappointment over the confusing and incorrect portrail on the websites but..... hey ho! we said we would make the most of it as the beech and weather looked amazing. Being a family holiday i am pleased to say that the pool areas, kidsclub in the day, beech and local towns were amazing. sadly this is the only good thing i can say about this resort. The evening entertainment was held in a large lounge which has air con but was never turned on which each evening was blistering hot. at 8.30 each evening a childrens mini-disco was advertised to last 30minutes before entertainment starting at 9pm. the girls that do popular childrens dances generally do a good job if sometimes lacking a little energy - but the kids loved it. Sadly only one evening in 7 did the disco last 30 minutes averaging 15-20, only the last night was a full 30 when a couple of families including myself complained. And now for the entertainment - each night was something different running from monday to sunday. and sadly never started on time one night was 10.20-11pm (kareoke). At best it was entertaining for children and i must say the Michael Jackson night and the lion king are very well done. but on the 19/10/2012 we had a 'comedy' night which started at about 9.20pm with three grown men walking out on stage wearing bed sheets and pillows strapped to them(nappies) and crash helmets smoking cigerets drinking out of a bottle of vodka. the routine involved them hitting / beating each other, smoking and spitting vodka (water) all over each others faces and the children at the front of the stage. if this wasnt enough one 'entertainer' came out wearing a bath robe which when opened all he was wearing was a wig stuck to his underwear to simulate public hair. After this we left. and the only good thing i can say about the whole routine is thank GOD we and my daughter do not speak french as i am sure the dialogue was crude! imagine our suprise when we were treated to another comedy night on our last evening. We agreed that after our daughter dances to the childrens disco we would leave and go to our room and were pleased to see that the routine differed so we stayed put for a few minutes. at 9.10pm two men dressed as women in high heels dresses and wigs walked onstage with$50 dollar and $40 dollar boards - yes they were pretending to be hookers! I and a large number of guests got our little ones and left. taking the children out of the room the entertainment was SICK and VILE. I am so so glad that we are now home. Every time i was pleased with what this hotel or fantastic part of the world offered it was short lived. there is so much more i could write but the above sums this hotel up. Last year we visited agadir, morocco takidi beech and that was an amazing holiday that i wish we booked again! thomas cook will be getting a call from me in the morning to show my disgust and distain that they put there name on this as suitable family entertainment!

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 1 week at the end of September. We booked a late deal through Thomas Cook booking just 2 weeks before travel. I had read some of the reviews prior to booking and decided I would go and see for myself.

The hotel is very large with 3 separate blocks but the hotel grounds are sufficently large to accommodate them all. We travelled late September so I can only assume that in peak season July/August this is when the hotel might get a bit busy.

We were delayed out of Manchester by just under 3 hours, a bit annoying as who likes to be delayed really but it didnt spoil the start of our holiday! However I am glad it was a delay outbound rather than coming home. We had night flights which again are not ideal in my opinion but we knew this before booking. We were given the landing cards to fill out on the plane to speed up immigration clearance who like to take their time checking everyone and even though there was a plane full of people there was only one guy working on the desk until another eventually arrived, however, it was the early hours of the morning and I am sure the airport were working on skeleton staff.

3 Thomas Cook reps were at the airport to meet the plane and one of the ladies told us where to find our coach and also warned us about the guys who will try to take your luggage off you to take it to the coach for a tip and they expect large tips for this. There is no need for them, it is not a far walk to your coach and they are simply there to make money for themselves so avoid them if you can and a simple No Thank You will get rid of them to pester the next travellers. Once they realise you are not wanting to tip they will leave you alone.

The transfer took around 40 minutes as the plane was split into resorts so on our coach were just our hotel and a hotel down the road. We were the first drop off.

On arrival at the hotel, again there is a porter wanting to take your luggage. We held on to ours and saw a few people go back for theirs once they realised that you would be expected to tip. There was no problem with this but as it was early morning we preferred to keep hold of our bags and head straight to our room once allocated.

Check in was pretty quick and a drink was provided on arrival. We were allocated a room in the 1st block overlooking the waterpark on the 3rd floor. The room was basic consisting of 2 twin beds a large wardrobe and a bathroom. The room was clean and enough for us for the week. There are no televisions in the room and I would suggest you take some speakers/music player etc if you dont want it deathly silent in the room when you are in there. There are no hairdryers in ther hotel either so take your own if needed! Plugs here are European plugs adn we had no problem with our hairdryer/straighteners.

On our first day at the hotel we bought a safety deposit box which is located down by reception which did concern me a little but they place is manned for most of the day and the reception is manned 24 hours. This is also where you change your money as Tunisian Dinars are a closed currency meaning you cannot purchase these before entering the country. The saftey deposit box was 36 dinars for the week, of which 30 dinar was a deposit refunded at the end of your stay on safe return of the key.

On our first visit to the restaurant for breakfast, a few waiters were ready to take us to our seat which should be your table for the week. We had a lovely waiter but cannot remember his name but we had him for most of the week, just the odd days when we had another guy but the staff we encountered were lovely and always asked how our day was going. I cannot understand the people who reviewed who say the staff were rude, in my experience, if you are rude to them they will be rude to you! We tipped our waiter at dinner only and left a bigger tip for him on our last day which he was very grateful for. The staff here dont get paid much at all and a few dinar tip goes a long way for them. At the end of the day, all the staff are trying to make a living!

The table we were allocated at breakfast was being used when we went down for dinner but there was no problem, we simply moved to the next table. People complaining about others sitting at their table is a bit silly, at the end of the day, the table is not going to be reserved for you for the whole time that dinner is served, there will obviously be more people than tables when dinner is served over 3 hours! I understand at peak season this probably happens more and maybe it is busier in there too but we had no problems and once we had moved we managed to use the same table through the week.

The main restaurant was always clean and the waiters were forever cleaning/changing tablecloths etc. The food was fine, not fantastic but there was always a choice of main meals changing every day of the week, soup for starters and different desserts and ice creams available. There were guys that would cook pancakes for you which seemed very popular and always had a queue no matter the time of day! Drinks in here were served in glasses and bottled water was available during lunchtime. Bottled water was also provided at the bar in the lounge which was on our way back to our room in the 1st block which was handy after a day by the pool to get a chilled bottle to take back to the room.

The beach bar had food available at lunchtime and we ate here a couple of times, it was easier than going to the restaurant when spending the day at the beach. It is an open air bar and so you did find the flies wanting to land on you/your food which is unavoidable really! Drinks here and also the pool bar were served in plastic glasses for obvious reasons.

The beach was beautiful! We spent a couple of days just lazing on the beach and in the warm sea. There are guys that bring you matresses for the sunloungers on the beach as well as around thr pool. They expect a tip but were never rude or forceful in asking for one, we always tipped them as they do work extremely hard and we only tipped 1 dinar a day which they seemed grateful for.

There is a bar on a docked boat on the beach called Bar 51, however we did not visit the bar as it is not included in your all inclusive but friends we met did and they said it was reasonably priced and nice in the evening too.

The pool area and the gardens were kept very well. There were gardeners out and about almost every day trimming flowers for the restaurant and keeping the grass in a good condition. We spent most of our time around the Relaxation pool which is a larger pool with some rock formations. The pool wasnt overly busy at the time we travelled and there was a shallower area for children. There was also a separate pool for the little kids around this area. There is an animation pool where music is played all day and activities for you to join in with but we didnt spend any time there as we were after a chilled out holiday and didnt fancy activites really!

We took advantage of a free trip that was offered to us at our welcome meeting, I would advise that you dont bother with this unless you want to buy a rug! Literally a 5 minute journey up the road to a carpet shop for a look around for half an hour then back to the hotel, we left just gone 9am and were back at the hotel by 10am!

We also did the Medina Ramble with Thomas Cook. This was a good excursion, we were collected just after 9 (again they were running a little late) and taken up to Sousse. The reps were fun and knowledgable and took us around the medina and to certain places for sportswear/tobacco/gold and helped with any haggeling you wanted to do. It was a bit rushed in some places as they needed to get to another carpet shop for another show of some rugs available to buy! I would recommend this trip though as it was a very good half a day out of the hotel.

There are lots of small shops and stalls within the hotel selling a variety of gifts etc. Again, you need to haggel in these shops for the best price which we did and came home with some great little bargains as far as we were concerned! You could have a week here and not leave the hotel at all if that is what you wanted. We spent most of our holiday in the hotel. The weather was also fantastic which really helped!

In the evenings were didnt go to any of the entertainment so cannot comment on this but we went for a relaxing break for a week to chill out and not do a lot and this holiday was perfect for that! A couple of times we had a drink in the Piano Bar which was a small terrace area where a guy would occasionally play and sing. It was pleasant enough and not too busy at the time of year we went. There is also a Nightclub in the hotel which is not included within the all inclusive package and friends we met had said it was expensive in there and not enough people to make a very good atmosphere in there.

On our last day we wanted to keep our room on as we were not flying til late at night and collection from the hotel was 10pm. We went to reception at 9am to arrange this as we were told we could do this after 9 by the Thomas Cook reps. The reception told us we should go back at 10am which we did and there was no problem at all in keeping our room and we kept the room we had been staying in until 8pm which was great for us meaning we only had a couple of hours to kill until our transfer back to the airport arrived. Our luggage was kept in a room along with everyone elses for the couple of hours wait we had. The all inclusive was still valid until the coach came to collect us too meaning we could still get drinks at the bar and we were also entiteled to dinner at the restaurant.

I personally wouldn't go back to Tunisia but we had fantastic weather and a great chilled out week which is just what we were after. I would say to anyone looking to stay at the Sahara Beach Hotel to go with an open mind not expecting 5 star luxury and you will not be disappointed.

We have just come back from the sahara beach it was fantastic, we arived here at 1.30am and the staff were fab we got a welcome drink as soon as we walked in which was great we got our room keys very quick ther was 8 of us in our party and we had 3 rooms and got them all very quick we had them all next to each other which was a bid help as we had our grandchilden son and daugter in law with us so we were all next to each other. We got up in the morning and went down to breakfast and had our table given to us which was great it didnt matter what time you go down for food you know you will always get ur table, we had same waiter for breakfast and a different one for lunch and dinner and they were great u had ur drinks there as soon as they see u come in and they couldnt do enough foy u. It was my daugters birthday while we were there and when we told them the table had all flower on it when we came down and they had a cake brought out to her, ok we had to pay for the cake but it was only 10 diner which was about £4 but it was lovely, the food was good we never went hungry and there was plenty of choice, if u didnt want to go to the resturant u could get burgers chips sandwhiches pizza pancakes from the pool bars. The rooms are basic and could do with updating but we were only in them to sleep and get changed so it really didnt bother us, they had what we needed in them wc shower/bath bed wardrobe and dressing table, the pools were very clean and we always got a sunbed where we wanted one and we didnt have to be down there at silly oclock we got down there abut 7 every morning and had no trouble the pool man would bring ur beds we tipped him every day 1 diner which is bout 50p and he was very happy with that. The shows in the evening werent that good but the team work very hard and do a great job, my grandaughter loved the mini disco in the evening she is only 2 but she was up there every night dancing away with all the other and the kids reps where great with them. You av got to remember it is a 3* hotel i would give it a 4* but if you want the best of everything then u dont go to a 3* u go 2 a 5* or up. We had a great time and will be going back, we had couple of days when we had heavy showers and alot of cloud but it is not the hotels fault. Just go with an open mind and u will love it.

Room Tip: We had rooms 1220, 1221, 1222 they all looked over the water park and the sun rises there in the mor...
