Houda Golf and Beach Club

we just arrived back this morning from a weeks stay at the houda,FANTASTIC. yes rooms are basic but they were cleaned everyday, fresh towels daily, and beds were changed every 2nd day, we did have a problem with ants, but it was very quickly sorted out after we reported it (they arent mind readers, if you dont report it they wont know) there was a bit of corridor noise at night, but to be honest we were so exhausted at the end of each day we slept through it. pool area and beach is great and the water sports are brilliant value for money. the food in the dining areas was fine, im very fussy and was always able to find something, the a la carte restaurants were really good especially the italian night..but like others have said if you go out the gates and turn left at the back of the safari shopping centre you will find ALIS BAR where you can get decent food and a great breakfast, the guys in there are brilliant and very welcoming and friendly, and the free wifi went down well with my daughters(DO NOT PAY FOR HOTEL WIFI, IT IS HOPELESS) also the safari shopping centre might not be as fancy as the folla(right outside front gates of hotel) but the staff are friendlier and prices cheaper. we went on a few excursions, all booked through the guys in the hotel (except zulu experience which we booked through rep) we did the camel rides.... good morning had by all, very entertaining. quads was brilliantt, all our party loved it and would have done it again if we were staying l onger, ben the organizer was such a nice guy, not pushy and even looked us out later to ask how we enjoyed it. zoo/zulu night...zoo was ok ,we paid to watch the dolphin show as well which was great, but if you have any sort of mobility problem then the zoo is best avoided ,mostly hills, zulu night part of this trip was great, food and entertainment was good, and the waiters kept the bottles( alcoholic and nonalcoholic) full. we did go on the pirate ship excursion, it was ok, out of them all we would do quads again.
all the staff in the hotel were polite and always smiling(well apart from the females on reception)gardeners, security, bar staff, waiters, couldnt fault any. the animation team, do a brilliant job in trying to get people to particapate, the games in the pool went down the best from what i saw.
the only negative things i can say about it is, if your scottish ,change your money to english before flying out, the will not accept scottish sterling to exchange for TND. and the hotel wifi should be avoided at all costs, very expensive, and rarely works

Only an average mark as although good value and it met my expectations I cant say it was very good or excellent. The food was fab in the a la cartes and certainly edible in the buffet. The salads were tasty. The drink quality is poor as others have said, the rooms basic but spacious and the pools and beach gorgeous. It is clean, especially in the public areas and there is always some one with a mop and a brush. We did have a problem with lack of toilet rolls everywhere but sorted it out easily.

Two top tips - the first all inclusive I have been to that doesnt offer pool/ beach towels. You need to take your own. We arrived at 10 am and the room wasnt ready, bring your swimmers in hand luggage and it wouldnt be a problem.

Keep an open mind and you will have a good time. The weather was good and that helps a lot.

Just came back from our holiday 2 weeks ago, it was our 3rd time at the Houda Beach & Golf in Skanes and we have just booked to go back for the 4th time in October, the hotel is excellent, there’s always somebody cleaning even though its not dirty. The rooms are basic but you don’t need anymore and its only a place to sleep lets be honest. The food is lovely, amazing variety and different everyday, Tunisian night was our fav and that lemon meringue is to die for! The waiters make the restaurant experience even better with flowers on your table when its your birthday and the night you leave and drinks ready and waiting for you when you come through the door, it’s the little touches that make all the difference. The animation team are always trying to keep you occupied even when the weather lets you down, they are really welcoming and the shows are entertaining and very funny thank to choreographer ziggy. The kids club is excellent, Nino is always busy with the little ones, whether its face painting or the mini disco. The manager Ben is the only manager ive ever seen walk round talking to his guests all day long, Problems would be sorted out immediately (although we didn’t have any) and if you have been to the Houda previously you should expect a 3 course meal with the manager during your stay, we had fillet steak and strawberries yum!. The slide pool is so much fun even for adults, trust me I know this ;0), the life guard keeps you safe. The beach is ultra clean and the security guard is excellent, he will watch your belongings and protects you from the guys selling stuff on there. The internal trips are great (quadding and camel) but would avoid the pirate ship, a total rip off from start to finish. Also must say as a gay couple we were welcomed like anyone else would be and never felt like being gay was a issue out there, a all round comfortable atmosphere . Thank you to all the Houda staff for the best holiday ever!

Cant believe all the bad reviews, they say there not snobs but they must be to not think this hotel is fantastic!? We got back today and its been a fantastic hotel to stay at, they are very clean theres not a minute go by that you dont see someone mopping up or collecting glasses, and the cleaners come to your room everyday and do a fantastic job, they are really friendly!
The locations not fantastic it has shops over the road and one 2 minutes down the road which has a brilliant cafe (ALI'S BAR) which has free wifi and there very nice. But its not far in a taxi to monister and souse which cost10 deena (£4)
Beds aren't that comfy but it didn't bother us apart from that rooms were fine, clean, big, lots of wardrobe space and lovely bathroom.
Service was good especially our waiter ALI!! He was fantastic, very nice man and our kids LOVED him :) we will miss him! So when you go to the restaurant ask for Ali :). The reception was good always someone there, sometimes the change man wasnt there but there is an exchange bang across the road and all the change places are fixed price.

All in all it is most defiantly a value for money! Dont listen to all the bad reviews, its fantastic and the manager Ben, Ali, all the staff and the animation team have made our holiday the best!! :) xxx

Just arrived back from our stay at the Houda and I cannot believe the bad reviews on here are written about the same hotel.

I travelled to Tunisia with my boyfriend and two female friends on 1st May. We were a little disappointed when we arrived as the weather was cloudy and cold, however, when we arrived at the hotel we were welcomed with cocktails and sent to have lunch and look around whilst our rooms were prepared. The pool area looked really nice and right on the beach, plus there was always the indoor pool if the weather didn't cheer up!

We were shown to our rooms that were very basic and although they were cleaned everyday, the floors could have done with a good scrub! Anyway, the beds were comfortable, always made and towels changed each day. Anyone expecting more for the price must be seriously deluded!

The following day the weather picked up and we were able to meet the staff and animation team and sample breakfast lunch and dinner. All of which we were really impressed with. There was a huge variety of food and something different everyday. I was hoping to lose weight after thinking the food would be bad but unfortunately I have put it on!! My boyfriend and one of the girls are quite fussy eaters but even they found a variety of foods they could enjoy. I must say I have stayed, all inclusive in many countries and this is certainly the best!!

With regards to the staff, our whole party agreed and commented many times that they are the most happiest and friendliest people we have met on a holiday. We didn't tip at all yet we were always met with a smile. How people can say the tour reps are pushy is unbelievable, each of them were happy to leave us alone once we told them we weren't interested. Even the beach sellers walked on by as soon as we said no thank you.

There have been many reviews on here complimenting Ben, the manager, and the animation team, which to be honest, worried me a little as I thought the good reviews were only being written by friends of the hotel. However, I was completely wrong, as there is no way you could meet these people and not like them! Ben chatted to us most days and the animation team are the happiest and funniest people I have ever met. They work from 9am till 11pm all week and were kind enough to invite us out to the local Safari bar with them after work where we could get some real alcohol!! (The spirits at the hotel do not get you drunk, although wine and beer aren't too bad!) Tito, Mamido and Hamza were especially friendly as they chatted to my boyfriend, keeping him company so my friends and I could dance!

Overall this hotel is amazing value for money and we are hoping to return for a yearly trip, bringing some more friends with us next time! All I can say to the miserable, moaning people on here is get your wallets out and go stay at a Hilton!!
