Average hotel. Nothing extraordinary. The rooms were quite clean and spacious but for sure had nothing from 5 stars.
Bathroom was not really perfect. After taking a shower in the bathroom on the floor constantly formed water what was quite unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Air conditioning did not work properly at all. We stayed there in April and due to the outside weather conditions (it was a little bit cold), in the rooms there was wetness and all our clothes got wet and unpleasant. So, we tried to switch AC on for hit in order to make the air more dry but we failed. It blew only with cold and at night it was almost impossible to sleep.
The food is another bad if not to say the worst side of this hotel. Terrible. It's not only much the same at each meal so became boring after a few days but was of an extremely poor quality. There were 30 people in our group and almost everyone had a stomachache during the whole stay. Thanks God it was a short time trip.

Just returned from a delightful 5 nights at the Nour Palace with a few objective reservations. I was pleased we went out of season. The hotel has a 1400 guest capacity, but there were only 150 guests upon our arrival. THE GOOD POINTS: An immaculately clean hotel, in fact, we laughed at how many cleaners were regularly on duty. Extremely friendly bar, restaurant and entertainment staff - they warm to the English - although those on reception were quite surly and unhelpful. It's a length transfer from Tunis Aiport; 3 hours in a minibus and 4 hours back on coach, but the benefit of this has to be a location void of tourist burger bars, shabby glitz and trashy clubs. Mahdia is a true Tunisian small town of old men sipping syrup coffee in street cafes. The hotel food is geared more towards German tastes - but ample and varied. Of the 150 guests during our stay, my sister and I accounted for among the 12 English people there. One very annoying thing: for about an hour or two during the peaceful tranquility the 'entertainment staff' pumped out head banging music around the pool, trying to encourage people to play darts or bingo - not what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel.I felt I was in Benidorm during the crucial slumber hours on a sunbed. I love clubbing music but not at that time. I would never visit this hotel hotel in high season if you wanted 5 star peace as, despite its showy marble ambiance, seems to be geared towards kid entertainment. In that sense, it is a contradiction, trying to appease rich Tunisians and the Jeremy Kyle set. Best out of season, that's all I can say.

We have always enjoyed out stays at Nour Palace, but this time it was better than ever. Vincci no longer control this hotel and it is under the directorship of a local business man - a huge improvement. All the regular guests agree that it is a change for the better most noticeable in the restaurant where the range and quality of food is exceptional. Well done to all the staff involved with the new Nour Palace Resort.
If like us you are wanting a quiet relaxing winter break, then this hotel is ideal during that period. We have just been joined by our 21 year old grandson who needed to ''chill out'' after moving into his new flat. He has been before and always says that it is worth coming just for the varied food choices!
Summer period is I am told 'perfect for everyone'' with the in house entertainment, the extensive hotel grounds -- tennis, archery, foot and hand ball, darts, boules, bowling, table tennis etc and the best beach in Tunisia.
We'll be back soon!! Thanks everyone, x

We had an initial nightmare of an introduction to Mahdia and the Nour Palace. We picked the holiday due to short flight time to Tunis and it was out first holiday with our 2 year old boy. The transfer was 3 hours out! The way back was 4.5hours with five hotel pick ups! Therefore we paid for a 7 day hol but got a 5 day one! We arrived early hours of morning in the end and given the most awful room, road facing, very basic, clean, but not maintained well with light fixings missing etc. To top it off, no cot for our baby and initially they expected us to put him on the pull out sofa! We asked specifically for a ground floor room and were put upstairs with a balcony that our little boy could definitely climb over. The next morning we arrived to a cattle market of a breakfast, there was nothing we could eat, and after having read the reviews of people getting stomach bugs etc I panicked, particularly for our little boy. I went to reception, I was sobbing, I was desperate to go home..... I was taken in by a lady called Manelle. She went through everything with me, explained there was a doctors convention hence why it was so manic in there, and after that day it would be quieter. I told her about my fear of the food after reviews, she told me that we could order anything we wanted to be made fresh and brought to our rooms if we wished, and she moved us to a lovely large ground floor room, with up to date furnishings and clean (room 1016). Everyday we were brought fresh breakfast to our room, the waiters remembered our order. Every day I saw Manelle checking the food hall before opening for guests. All the staff were wearing gloves when cooking, and food was being made fresh at every station. Beach was being maintained ever day desite being early season and not many people being there. Soft drinks were branded, alcohol not great, waiters always rembembered your drinks order at meal times. Food displayed with care and attention. Bottled water provided at all times. The only criticism was we were given little info on the workings of the hotel so found things out along the way, it would have been good to have been given a synopsis of hotel on first day. Towels had seen better days. But having stopped at so many hotels on way back to airport, I popped into each and realised that Nour Palace was by far the Tunisian interpretation of 5 star. Despite other hotels looking nice at reception, toilets were broken, decor was worn etc. Resort is very quiet so dont expect a party, busy holiday, nights are quiet. Best to go between Apr and June, not sure how they would cope high season, plus lots of Russians there that time of year. Sadly the ridiculous transfer time will out people off, although it does keep the riff raff away on a positive note!

Room Tip: Pick ground floor facing swimming pool.

This was a most enjoyable stay. The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful. My shower head didn't fit, this was replaced immediately. Our rooms were clean and so was all of the hotel. We felt comfortable wherever we were in the hotel. The food was good with enough variation to keep us wondering what would be on the buffet for each meal. Our rooms were spacious and included a fridge. We chose rooms that looked out over the pool and sea with balconies. There is entertainment for those that wish. There is a good sized indoor pool. The train station is just five minutes away to take you to Mahdia just four short stops away or you can take a taxi or walk along the beech, its about 3 miles into the centre via the beach. The train also goes to Sousse and Monastir and several little place inbetween. Not many English speaking tourists come to this part of Tunisia, it is mostly Germans, Italians and French so breakfast caters for their tastes.

Room Tip: In the winter choose rooms on the east side facing the pool, these get the sun for most of the day

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Take a gang electric lead for all your chargers/ kettle as only 1 electric socket.
Food was much the same at each meal and became boring after a few days. The hotel has a Tunisian and Italian restaurant open on certain days but there is no menu choice and is a set meal starting at 7.30pm The entertainment team programme was for small children and not geared for adults and was cringeworthy to watch. The all inclusive alcohol on offer was of a very poor quality and all spirits were undrinkable. The wines were barely passable and unfortunately branded shots worked out at around £10 a go.. Outside of the hotel was very little. No alternative bars that served alcohol and unlit streets.. The beach to the hotel was good although the loungers were well worn and uncomfortable. We were the only English staying at the hotel and the staff seemed surprised to find British people there. By day 3 we missed someone to talk to and were beginning to feel a bit isolated. Our transfers were booked via lowcost holidays who used a local coach operator. We arrived n Tunisia 8am and sat on a baking hot coach-alone until 10.30am in the airport, Waiting for another couple from a different flight to arrive. We set off for the hotel with no offer of a water to rehydrate us for a two hour journey. We had expected to be at the hotel for mid morning not the afternoon. On our return journey, we were collected at 5 .50 for a 10am flight back home and started to tour round hotels to collect people for the airport. At our supposed check in time, we were still an hour away from the airport. We arrived fraught and anxious and found check in closed fortunately they opened it for us and we had no time to grab some water as we had not had fluid or food since the evening before. We were rushing to get to departures and only just made the flight. A complaint went to lowcost holidays who replied after a month to say the coach company had not responded and as we got the transfers we booked they were not interested.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise from those above as tile floors

We have stayed at Nour Palace for nine nights, and I must say that we have enjoyed the experience and I would fully recommend it to other tourists.

The Rooms were spacious and much nicer than the pictures that you see over the internet. The view from the window is very stunning, as it overlooks the gardens, the pool and the sea.

The actual hotel is very much like a palace. The forum area is huge, full of arabian character, and you easily get dazled by the marble floors, and as you gase into the area, you get a mirage of an oasis.

The food is extremley good, and presented beautifully. They offered such a wide variety of dishes it is impossible not satisfy the needs of anyone.

The swiming pools and the beaches are extremley clean.

The staff are friendly, but wish they would smile more oftten.

The evening entertainment is excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 3rd floor facing East
