This hotel is fantastic. The staff were never "in your face" but were there to make your stay fantastic. The room was extremely clean. The food was perfect. All in all one of our best holidays. The views from our balcony were amazing - overlooking the sea and swimming pool.

Room Tip: Most definitely request a room overlooking the sea.

Just had a really nice stay at this hotel, Trying to get a sunbed around by the pool after 9am was a problem with towels put on them from 6am,The pool and pool area was kept very clean at all times, Food abit bland at times but could always find something to eat.Staff friendlly and willing to help with anything needed. Rooms very clean although no powerpoint close to a mirror for use of curling tongues , although an extension lead was provided on request.Beach could do with cleaning up,There are traders on the beach but they didn't bother you if you wasn't interested, lots to see on the 2 hour transfer to and from the airport. All the entertainment staff were pleasant and tried their best to keep everyone entertained.

If it wasn't for the Hotel & the efforts of the majority of staff this would of been scored terrible. Transfer time from the airport is around 2 hours, the sights you will see on the way in resemble a waste tip & building site. Rooms are large & relatively clean although i think changing the bed linen only once during our 1 week stay was woefully short. The restaurant at times was chaotic with women in particular pushing & shoving, the food is very basic & i'm afraid the meat did not agree with our party. My partner in fact chose to stick with the same dinner each night (pasta) as she edged on the safer side of caution. The service however that the waiters offered was very good, don't forget to tip them. The bar area again was good with the waiters more than happy to keep your glass full but again don't forget to tip them. The hotel sits on it's own private beach, my partner & I decided to walk it one morning & i'm afraid we discovered waste & even an abandoned used nappy. There was what looked like a sewer pipe that had come up through the sand going into the sea, it wasn't clear water & it was to be avoided. We did venture out once but only made a few hundred yards, the pavements are not finished & breaking up so in a lot of instances you are forced to walk on the road which becomes very dangerous. There is nothing out there anyway, no restaurants or bars. A very disappointing holiday & safe to say we will never return.

Like this we avoid energy and water waste without renouncing on an excellent service fulfilling the needs of our clients at all times.

Last but not least, our IBEROSTAR Royal El Mansour sits along Tunisia's eastern coast in the town of Mahdia. As soon as we entered our room we were so surprised with how big the rooms were. We had our own living room and our own balcony which gives us a view of the whole city The rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels and spotless floor.

The restaurants were very big and different variety of foods everyday to choose from. The food was international so had a lot to choose from and very tasty. The waiters were very welcoming and friendly everyday and they would go out of their way to make sure we had a good dining experience everyday.

The pool area was so beautiful and the waiters would come and ask if you would like a drink and made sure if you were fine. Also other staff would try and make you join up for activities to help you stay active and enjoy your stay and make use of your day.

We also had a full body massage which was so relaxing and enjoyable. The only thing i found was the staff were bit rude in the spa.

The night life at the hotel is amazing especially the animation team. they went out of their way to make sure you came to their show. The show was very enjoyable and a good laugh. I would like to congratulate the animation team for keeping me entertained the whole week and always putting a smile on my face. Also the animation team are very good looking.

One staff I would personally like to thank is Kabbourra from the animation team. He made my week complete by making sure I had a good time and he would always go out of his way to say hello and make conversation with us. He was always looking out for us, I think without him it would have not been the same. Hopefully we meet again.

HAD THE MOST FANTASTIC 7 NIGHT STAY. IT WAS PARADISE!

TRANSFER & CHECK IN: transfer is quite tiring and will take 1hour 45mins. We reached the hotel at 3 in the morning and check in was quick and easy.

ROOMS: We had a junior suite and as soon as we saw our room - we were amazed. The suite is HUGE. It contains a large bedroom with a large bed that can even sleep up to 3 people. There is another living room with a small dining table, sofa chairs and sofa bed and this room contains a large balcony. The toilet and shower rooms are separate but very clean. And the suite also contains a reception area with a large mirror and cupboards. Really really worth the extra money for a suite!!!

HOTEL: The hotel is huge. Really clean. Probably the best looking building in Mahdia. It has 3 large swimming pools - the temperature of the pools is fine after sun bathing for hours. Finding sunbeds can be a mission as all of them are reserved by 8am. Sunbeds do seem a bit crammed too but didn't really bother us. The hotel contains a bar where all the staff were lovely and we were served straight away. There is also a snack bar during the day where you can eat pizza, icecream, cakes etc. I found the pool bar staff to be very slow and sometimes quite rude. We sometimes waited over 15minutes just to be served at this bar. There is also a grand conference room in which we had our Thomas Cook rep meeting with Philip (the most helpful rep I have come across - he will do anything for you). There is also a sheesha café where you can chill out and relax and smoke a sheesha pipe. There is a spa which is big.

FOOD: The dining area is huge and very noisy - but we didn't mind this. We had breakfast outside on most mornings which was lovely. the food is hit and miss. There will always be something that you are going to eat and like. The omelette man in the mornings works very hard making tasty omelettes. The pancakes with chocolate sauce for breakfast is a must too. Lunch and dinner is very similar and there is always pizza, chips, pasta, rice, bread. There are a lot of fish and turkey meals. A huge salad bar. And lots and lots of desserts - I recommend the custard profiteroles and custard slices - yummy! There is also always different flavour mousses and icecream for lunch and dinner. Sometimes icecream, pancakes and mint tea is brought around the pools and you can eat these while sunbathing. The A La Carte evening meal was also quite good even though it is similar to the buffet food but is well presented.
I must say a big thank you to the food and beverage manager who looked after us very well and always asked if everything was ok. Very nice man.

ENTERTAINMENT: The animation team seem very good. I must say out of all the animation team - Maher - works the hardest and is a lovely lovely man! He tries very hard to come round and get everyone involved in daytime activities such as gymnastics, pool aerobics, step aerobics, Arabic lessons and is not pushy if you say no. Watch out for Kaboura as he is very annoying if you are a group of girls. Saleh - the man that gives out towels during the day is also very nice. The entertainment at night is quite poor. And I would watch out if you are going to the shows at night with small children as some of these shows seem to be very rude. The Tunisian folk show was amazing with fire breathers - don't miss this one. There is not a lot to do in the evenings apart from chilling out at the bars or smoking sheesha (which is only open until 11pm). The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so there is nowhere to go out during the night either. We went to the night club at the hotel on one occasion and it was empty!!

BEACH: The beach is lovely with soft white sand. There were lots of people swimming in the sea which has lovely water. And lots of people sunbathing by the beach.

EXCURSIONS: We went paragliding - the man is happy to haggle the price but that only means he will give you a shorter ride time! The pirate boat excursion is fun with on boat entertainment, music, food and drink, it also stops in the middle of the sea and you can dive from the boat into the sea. We also went on a speed boat for an hour - very fun - and there is also a bit on the trip where you can snorkel if you want. We also did the Mahida ramble with Philip (Thomas Cook rep) - very worth it - the trip takes you into the Mahida town. Other excursions which we didn't do include - quadbiking, banana boat (which is free as part of all inclusive), jet ski, camel riding.
Just make sure you haggle with prices for any excursions.

SPA: I had to add the spa into this review as all the staff there are very rude. In particular rude if you try and haggle a price with them. All of them seem to laugh at your face and say things in their own language about you. We had a full body massage - 50dinars for 50mins which we still found a bit too expensive but the massage was very nice.

STAFF: Staff will give you a much better service if you tip them which I found a bit disappointing. Waiters will keep your drinks topped up while sunbathing and in the bars if you tip. If you don't tip - you will need to go up and get them yourself.

OVERALL: A lovely relaxing stay. I would return again to this hotel. The only downsides is the evening entertainment which they can make much better and more entertaining. And also a downside is the location. There is nowhere to go in Mahida during the day or night so everything is mostly hotel based which is perfect if you just want a relaxing holiday!

Room Tip: Junior suite is well worth the extra money.

Firstly, I can't understand all the people complaining about the transfer time. We knew exactly how long it would take before we arrived as we had done our research. I'd rather spend 2 hours on a minibus with 2 people than spend an hour in a coach with a load of yobs! You will not do the transfer any quicker than 1 hour 45mins.
The hotel is the largest hotel in the area and looks great from the outside and is very clean on the inside. We paid extra for a junior suite with a sea view and booked with Thomas cook. The room was clean and tidy and very big! The view was amazing.
I will start with the positives. The grounds are amazing, very well kept and tidy. Despite previous comments we found the pools to be warm and were lovely to swim in at the end of a day on the beach. We found the local beer very good which they served on draught at all the bars. The sea was very clear and warm and very shallow to swim in. All the staff were very friendly and spoke good English.
So onto the negative, these are the things that stop this being a genuine 5 star hotel. For the last 2 years we visited another Thomas cook 'style'' hotel in Turkey (Paloma Renaissance in Kemer) which was as near to perfection you could wish for. The El Mansour is also classed as a 'style' hotel and this just doesn't make sense. The El Mansour is a very good 4 star at best.
The food is very average, if you like pizza, turkey in many different forms and pasta you will be in heaven. Some of the food was okay but most was bland and tasteless and never very hot. There is only one speciality restaurant which we dined in once as per the rules, this was the best meal we had but was also just okay.
Tipping is another issue. I don't believe that you should tip when you have paid for an all inclusive holiday. There are so many people that expect a tip for a providing a service that they should be doing regardless of tips. These could include the waiters in the restaurants (particularly 'Said' outside) who expect a tip for showing you to a table each night, the waiters working the tables in the bars, the man who walks you to your sunbeds on the beach each morning and of course the tip you leave for your room maid. If you want to tip all these people then bring plenty of money with you to change into Dinar coins.
The sunbeds around the pool are a joke for a hotel of this size, they are packed in like sardines and yet there are mass areas of grass unused. We stayed out of the way on the beach. Be aware of the water sports team who will hound you for the first 2 days and then probably leave you alone when they realise that no means no!
Finally the bed was huge in the room but it was like sleeping on a concrete slab!
Enfidha airport is very clean and modern and very efficient, we had no delays coming in or going out. Make sure you eat before you get there as the eating options are limited.
Do not buy goods in the hotel shop, go across the road to the little shop opposite (2 floors) the gifts there are slightly cheaper then the hotel shop and the owner will let you look around without pestering you.
Overall a good holiday but because of the food it falls short of being a 5 star in my opinion. I would go back to Tunisia as the weather was superb but not to this hotel.

it was the first time we have gotten exactly what it said in the brochure, first drop off(although the trip took 1 hour 45, not 1 hour 15 it stated in the brochure) but the hotel was beautiful, room couldn't be nicer and a lovely full on view of the sea. as soon as we arrived we were ushered in for lunch never mind booking in we could do that once we were finished.
a really clean hotel throughout, the staff couldn't do enough for us.

Room Tip: 4026 quiet being 4 floors up and also a nice breeze, lovely view of the complex and the sea.
