Nice hotel, big structure (in the middle of nowhere), nice swimming pool. Food at breakfast lacks variety, rooms are noisy due to very poor noise isolation. Good to have free shuttle services to and from the office

We recently stayed at the Dar Said in Sidi Bou Said for ten days but came here three times to use their pool and beach facilities which were great. We also ate dinner there three times - the buffet service which was also great. As per my other reviews on places in Tunis I think you just have to accept that service and standards are a bit hit and miss in Tunisia once you accept this - this is as good as any place. As for the rooms I can't comment since big resorts are not really my thing but I suspect my general comments still apply so if you wanted to stay in a resort type of hotel I would recommend this place

This is were I try to stay when traveling to Tunis.
It had better days but for about 100euros/night you can still have an excellent experience.
The rooms are clean and big. Several restaurants to choose (not all are open everyday) and a great swimming pool.
Breakfast is not amazing but you can get a very good omelet and nice fruit... enough for me. Pitty that coffee is not good but that's common to many of the cafes and restaurants in Tunis.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony and turned to the pool.

We liked almost everything- price = quality. Clean room, that bed i still can not forget, it was big, with soft pillows comfortable. Good pool out side and inside of the hotel. Good food, except italian restaurant , spagetti were too much cooked. With taxi we never had problems,it were always on the place . The only problem we had it was the broken safe-box and lift, for us it was very important , because we have been with small baby, and we had stroller.

Nice hotel. Some parts look a bit tired and worn down, but hotel room is worth a European 4 stars, restaurants absolutely brilliant, breakfast not really my taste but enough choice to find something. Location is okay for both business as vacation.

Room Tip: Ask for hotel near reception

The website portrays the resort as something special.. and when you arrive, it certain looks the part. Very impressive reception area.

Was staying here for a week while working, so the overall resort features I didn't really get to use that much. The pool area is very nice, very clean and good size.

The Good
The pool is nice, and there is plenty of areas to relax on a lounger. The beach area is ok, but the water edge and surrounding area is dirty and full of liter. However, if you want to get a good spot, or even a lounger you need to get in early, as it was full all day and in the evening there is no room for anything.

The Thai restaurant is very nice, recommend giving that a go, although be warned not to get carried away on the ordering as you get a lot of food!

Executive Lounge
Nice little lounge area, where you could have drinks and snack and breakfast. The staff in here were VERY helpful and friendly.

The Bad
The room was awful. Small and dated, bed very uncomfortable. Air Conditioning useless, and despite reporting it several times nothing was done about it. I had some fruit and sweets left in the room on the first day and a bottle of water, but they were left there all week and not changed. Once you use the bottle of water, thats your lot, no more!

Bathroom, again dated, shower is a simple off tap job, and you do the usual dance in and out of the water as someone else turns something on, so not very good.

Ate in the Italian restaurant. Found the menu very disappointing. The starter of Squid was not cooked and I sent it back. Didn't seem to have a decent range of Italian food either, not even a pizza listed.

Room, lounge and restaurant staff seemed friendly, front desk staff really were not friendly. On one occasion when trying to arrange some transport it just all appeared to be too much hassle for them to arrange, and it took far too long.

The really bad
Hotel transport.. they lay on buses to get you places if you arrange it.. but I would strongly advise against using it, the drivers are dangerous and drive too fast, only used it for a couple of days then switched to using a taxi as we didn't feel safe.

Overall
If you get a cheap rate, and just want to chill out by the pool, then it might be a good deal, but don't expect too much if you are expecting luxury, as luxury this is not.

There are other hotels such as the Residence just down the road which rates are similar and is far superior.

I will avoid using this again.

Not a very nice experience overall. Had to stay there because of a workshop that was taking place in the hotel, so not of my choice. But the service was still lacking overall, from the very arrival, and the long wait I had to endure to check in. Safe box was not working and even though I called and asked several times to get it open, with all sorts of excuses made, to no avail was able to use it before Ieft the hotel three days later. the elevators broke on the first night I stayed and had only been fixed by the third day. And the ATM machine next to the lobby, crashed with my card inside and had to wait nearly half an hour to get it back, apparently from an electric shock that stops the machine working, so seems its not a new problem! why do they not alert customers, especially if you will have to wait before leaving the hotel on your way to the airport?? food was ok, desserts even better

Location-wise, the hotel is far away from the centre and needs some driving to get to other areas were some nightlife happens, which brings the extra problem of relying on taxi drivers standing outside the hotel, they just let the counter run at the night rate when it is not even night and of course it is their gentle way of cheating you if you do not know the fares to be paid for the said distances in Tunis. But the hotel staff should be aware pf this and still impressed nothing is done about it. Better catch your taxi at the hotel entrance as soon as anyone comes to drop people to the hotel. they will be more than happy to take you back towards the city with the meter running swiftly without cheating.
