“Great hotel”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Stayed here for one week on 12 May 2013. The rooms were spotless and the staff were very friendly. The entertainment staff were very hard working and always happy. Food always hot and plenty of choice. BE WARNED do not book a trip with Sammir. We did and we were taken on a horse and cart ride through fields of rubbish and was bitten to death by mosi's. My friend and I were very upset about this but when we approached him he seemed to not understand english - DO NOT GO ON THIS TRIP.

Otherwise cannot fault this hotel (apart from the freezing pool). Great music around the activity pool or you could sit around the relax quiet pool.

Went on a couple of trips booked through Thomson and they were good fun. Met a lot of nice people.

Definately would go back to this hotel. Thanks for a wonderful time.

Room Tip: We had a sea view and this had a large balcony.

We returned from Tunisia on the 19th June 2013 we had a excellent holiday, the hotel was great so was the food . The buffet restaurant was excellent with lots of choices ( but don,t expect English food it,s not served ) but that what you go on holiday for something different. The sun beds were full but if you asked someone they would find you one. But it was not only the German's who hogged the sunbeds you would find the Germans and Russians on them early from what I saw were British people putting towels down early and not coming down to use them till 11 am then starting arguments with one English couple it was embarrassing with them both being in their mid to late 50's they were never happy with anything and picking a fight with a young German girl on the beach next year I suggest they go back to Benadorm .The water sports were brilliant if you wanted to use them and the entertainment was good .All the members of staff could not be more helpful if you wanted anything they would help . The drinks were okay good beer ,proper coke not top brand spirits but they were okay. This was our second Magic Life holiday and both have been brilliant and top value for the money .As Magic Life is a Austrian company expect lots of Germans and Russians but on the whole I found them okay and even spent some evenings mixing them I suggest you try ,

Hotel and grounds are nice. Food was fine, always something to eat.
Rooms were nice and spacious and cleaned daily. Maids were very pleasant.
Hard to get a sun lounger as despite the signs asking not to reserve loungers or your stuff would be removed this never happened.
Lots of Germans at the hotel who were rude and didnt seem to grap the concept that you should queue for things. They were forever pushing infront of you for food and at the bar.

just returned from magic life and we must say that the food in the main restaurant standard was of good quality. the rooms were clean and tidy and the beach was fantastic, however when we came to leave the promise of a late check-out for our room or a room to change in did not materialize. everyone on the bus had to change in the spa shower/toilet room which was packed and as both our clothes were in 1 case it was not easy. the rep was no-where to be seen and the staff had a couldn't care less attitude as we were leaving. this marred an otherwise very pleasant holiday

Just returned from a relaxing week at magic life Africana Imperial. Arrived at complex late morning and were advised our room would not be ready until 1.30pm but we could use all the facilities the desk clerk then said he had an alternative room for us which we were shown to straight away. Room exceptionally clean and as stated in previous reviews bathroom and toilet seperate which is not ideal as the toilet has no hand washing facilities therefore you have to walk to the bathroom to wash your hands after each visit to the loo.
We never used the al a carte restaurants as the buffet was excellent with a wide variety of choice. The local red wine is very palatable and as you finish one bottle it is replaced with another.
The waiters give excellent service. I do feel tipping helps we tipped 2 euros in the evening and 1 euro at lunch time. I would not bother with Dinar unless travelling widely outside the resort as it is a closed currency and they are very strict on you trying to take it out of the country. We found euros widely acceptable and the front desk were more than happy to split the notes into coins for you.
The major irritant was the saving of sun beds as in previous reviews signage stating security would remove did not happen we are early risers and were on the beach before 8 am most mornings and at least 20% of the sun beds had towels on them and no bodies! Which security just ignored. I do feel this needs managing better.
The relaxing pool area is ideal for adults and a peaceful area. There are several small garden areas with sun beds on as well. I feel this resort caters for all with numerous activities available if you wish to partake otherwise you can just relax.
All the staff are friendly and say hello when they see you . The hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff seem to work hard on making sure you have an enjoyable time and are very customer focused.
We would definitely return

This is certainly Magic! We have just returned from a family holiday, (8 adults and 1 child) . Our hotel was changed to this hotel as the one we were originally booked into was not ready following renovations.
On arrival we were met by the very friendly staff who took all of our baggage to our rooms, welcome drinks were given to us and we were booked in very quickly.
We had booked 4 rooms for our party and we discovered that two of the rooms were in one part of the complex a fair distance from the other two rooms and after a word with the Thompson rep she arranged for our rooms to be changed and we ended up with rooms next to one another which was great.
The hotel and the rooms are kept spotless by the staff, the rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are provided every day and the fridge in your room is kept topped up with a supply of coca cola and Fanta soft drinks and bottles of water.
The choice of food available in the restaurants is fantastic, there are also snack bars dotted about the extensive grounds and on the beach so you never go hungry or thirsty, and used, plates, cups or glasses are quickly removed by the staff and they are very quick to offer and supply any drinks should you not have one close at hand.we also tried the three specialist restaurants during our stay and they were wonderful. My only minor gripe was that there was no bacon available so bacon but ties with brown sauce were not an option, Ha Ha!
Several different pools are available plus the private beach for water activities or just relaxing in the water. Plenty of sun beds on the grassed areas around the pools or on the beach and the hotel supplies towels which you can change for clean ones as often as you wish. The entertainment team arrange various games etc around the main pool area and they don't pester you to join in either if you say no thanks when they initially ask you.
We tried some of the shows and entertainment that is provided and were a little disappointed with them as it was mostly dance orientated. There was a guitar, bass, vocal duo on one of the nights who were very good but there show seemed to end very abruptly just as everyone was starting to enjoy it.
There also seemed to be a habit by the entertainment people of ending the entertainment in one area of the hotel and then telling everyone that something would be starting in 5 minutes elsewhere in the hotel so you were constantly having to move around following the entertainment which on the whole was being done by the same bunch of people but in different places instead of keeping it going where people were already enjoying themselves. Perhaps the hotel should take a leaf out of other holiday centres books and bring in outside entertainers to give a more varied programme of events instead of the same faces in different guises, Just a thought!
On the whole we enjoyed our holiday at Club Magic Life Africana Imperial and would certainly consider visiting again and also recommend it to others.
It's Magic!

To start we are a couple traveling without children, and have done several AI. We booked the Magic Life because: 1) We have heard good things about the Magic Life in Sharm, 2) we fancied going back to Tunisia and 3) This Hotel was a platinum standard in the Thompson brochure.

After a 31/2 hr. flight, we arrived in Enfidha about 19:30. We weren’t given landing cards on the flight so had to fill them in in the Airport (I did a search on the Tunisia forum to help fill the form out). The luggage took a long time to get on to get on the carousel, but even so we were on the bus within about 40 min of landing. A 40 min or so transfer and we arrived at the Hotel.

On arrival we were give no drink but rushed into the restaurant, as we were told in would be closing soon. It was not the best start. We were given forms to fill in prior to check in. I had filled mine on-line, so just had to sign the form, and was given the room key.

We found the room, which overlooked the Quite pool, we were having trouble getting the key card to unlock the door, when the porter arrived with our cases. The room was large with plenty or storage space. It has a separate toilet, bathroom with a shower in the narrow bath. There was an in room safe, fridge stocked with water and soft drinks (Coke brands), a kettle and a TV with 2 English news channel and other 1 or 2 other English channels.

Now if we had stayed for 1 week this review would be a lot different. We had several bad experiences during the first few days and would have gladly got back home after the first week.

My wife caught a bug from somewhere on the 1 or 2 day and was quite ill for a few days. Then we found another guest in our room with a porter showing her how to open our safe. It seems she had convinced the porter it was her room and she couldn’t open the door or safe. I dread to thing what could have happened if we hadn’t arrived when we did. Then while lying on a sunbed a few days later, the parasol broke and fell on my wife, the pole was made of steel and was quire heavy.

However as time went on we started to enjoy they stay.

The grounds of the Hotel are unusual in that there is no large concrete surround to the pool, full of sunbeds. Instead there are areas of lawn dotted around the grounds with sunbeds and (heavy) parasols fixed(ish) into the ground. There are areas around the main (activity) pool, the quite pool and other areas around the Hotel. There is an area called the relax zone, (near the “Gym”) but there was some construction work taking part, near here, (the other side of a wall) but in didn’t see to effect the people lying there.

So here’s what I consider the good and not so good about the Hotel.
Room,
Good size, clean, separate toilet soft drink and water in the fridge.

Problems getting into room with key card, went to the reception several times to get it reprogrammed. However we either got the hang of them, or something as we could get into the room after about 3 attempts later in the stay. Walked past lots of other people having similar problems. Air con, not very effective in room, we set it to min but hardly had any effect, this may be due to Hotel not switching it on fully, early on in season!! Also the low energy lighting in the bathroom made shaving a bit of a hit and miss affair.

Food,
We was impressed with the main Buffet restaurant, a different theme every night, a 14 day rota, (with a Tunisian evening every week) the decorations and dress of the staff, to suit the theme. The food was good also. Liked the fact you could get pots of tea and coffee on the table at breakfast. The freshly squeezed orange juice was good, the cook making this, worked not stop to keep up with demand. We also liked the cocktails and canapés, at the main entrance to the buffet, at the start of the evening meal.

Less impressed with the birds flying around the food, in the restaurant.

Misc.
As some other poster said there was a notice saying no reservation (without activity) of sunbeds before 08:30 at the pool. This was ignored so either enforce the notice or take in down.

Wi-Fi, in Lobby was normally quite good, but with one or two periods when it was down during our stay.

Staff, very friendly and good, a good plus point for the Hotel.

Plenty of activities taking place, many more than normal, the sporting type activities seemed to suit the many Germans in the Hotel. I played Volleyball (not to a German or Russian standard) and only two sessions had other Brits taking place.

Would we go back, to Tunisia, yes and perhaps back to this Hotel also?

Just one other point, I kept some Tunisian Dinar for the airport, but had to change them back to Sterling before going into the departure lounge. You can pay in Sterling or Euros there. Also there is no Wi-Fi in the main airport lounge. (I also couldn’t get a phone signal on my mobile for the whole holiday).
