“3rd visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

This was our third visit in 4 years to this hotel. Its great value with good temperatures early in the year.

We visited over May half term and the weather was mixed but far better than Spain etc. The hotel meets our needs perfectly. It has the benefits of great size 2 bedroomed apartments with 2/3 bathrooms dependant on where you are, a kitchen and living room as well as outside space, again dependant on your apartment. Apartments are cleaned to a high standard daily, with clean sheets and towels. The staff are all welcoming and helpful. As it was our 3rd visit we were given a great welcome with a bowl of fruit delivered to our room and a basked of fresh flowers delivered to our 7 year old daughter. There are 3 swimming pools, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor which is very underused. Its normally so warm but on this visit near to the end of the week was really cool. The children enjoyed the mini disco each night but other than that didn't use the kids club. Entertainment on a couple of evenings was participative and fun but probably not as good or regular as previous years. The hotel is situated right next to the Medina and you need to be prepared just to ignore the constant demands to visit 'my shop - just look' and to haggle hard. As we had been before it felt as if we were less hassled than previously but my son and his girlfriend found it difficult to start with as this was their first visit so I think we were just used to it. The resort itself was very quiet but there is plenty to do there. Cartage land is OK for kids for a couple of hours, the hotel has its own beach, there are plenty of shops and horse and carriage rides and the road train take you around the resort. We didn't go to Hammamet this year but that is worth a visit to see a real Medina and I think would only be about 1 Dinar by taxi each, we have gone by road train before but that no longer runs there. We visited Naboul, standing at the bus stop the locals advised us the taxi minibusit was 2 dinars each which was helpful as they tried to charge us more! It was about half an hours journey so excellent value and great shopping! Loads of pottery shops and everything so cheap!

We had booked our transfers through Travel Republic. This was a nightmare as on the way the coach broke down twice and had to be replaced. On the return they told everyone the wrong times so we reached the airport by the skin of our teeth, only for the plane to be delayed for over a day. Thanks BA for putting us up in a great hotel, back in Yasmine Hammamet, but once you are on your way home its not the preferred option!!

Room Tip: Rooms around the smaller pool are quieter but don't have balconies.

We travelled last year to this hotel - and we must say it was fabulous. The large rooms over 2 floors, with a kitchen, downstairs living room and WC and upstairs bedroom and bathroom with view over the small pool was great. Bar staff really attentive, as soon as you finished your drink they asked if you wanted anything else, never had to go to the bar myself. Restaurant equally as good, quality of food excellent and good choices which varied every day. First day at lunch I asked for a glass of white wine, waiter bought a whole bottle for us. Some nights as well #waiter would pass us a bottle to take back to the room for the evening. Entertainment staff also great, evening entertainment appreciated and actually well performed, during the day team were there if you wanted them but respected your privacy if you wanted some quiet time. Overall, the hotel is brilliant, we stayed AI and would recommend this option. Tunisia itself is also worth visiting as it has not yet been spoilt by the standard western influences like MacDonald's, Starbucks and the other global chains you see elsewhere. Street traders and market stalls will ask you to look at their goods, but then this is typical of lots of countries and is part of the experience and culture, if you didn't want to see a different culture then why would you travel abroad? I personally would return to Tunisia without a doubt and also to this hotel.

Room Tip: Any rooms around the small pol or the big pool as these are close to the main building. Rooms in th...

Apartments are pretty big, lounge downstairs with small tv and a toilet and kitchen downstairs.Fridge, microwave, hot plate, kettle andcoffeemaker with usual cups etc.Upstairs two bedrooms one with two single beds and the other with queen size. Both have attached bathrooms with bath and shower.Rooms clean but a bit shabby.
Outside a smallish swimming pool but adequate.
Food was also adequate but not overwhelming.for those who say Otis Tunisian Standard,I live inTunisia and have had lots better.Staff really good and you are right beside the Medina.Fine if like us you have a car but the rest of the shops etc a good twenty minute walk. The noddy train was 10 dinars for three after a bit of bargaining so was reasonable.equivelent to approx £1.20 each.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor unless you want to walk up two flights of stairs. They are very accommodating

I've been to hammamet a few times, but by far the best hotel i've stayed in. The hotel and bar staff were really friendly and helpful, food varies and caters for everyone! The rooms were like suites, with kitchen appliances and a living room, rooms were cleaned everyday, by friendly housekeeping. Overall, i would recommend this hotel, and i am returning in October with some more friends. Loads of things to do nearby, beach is really near the hotel, with a bar and sunloungers. It has to be said the animation team are brilliant, speak so many different languages and really get to know you, involve you in as much or as little as you want, nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are very friendly. Would like to say a big thank you to Rico, Sam, Mido, Alex, Mario and Yosra!!!!!!!!

The hotel is dramatic to look at and is built around a medina / market. Sometimes you can find quite a walk to get to a swimming pool or reception but we did not mind this, it is very well done. The area of Hammamet is very touristy so plenty of hotels and gift shops.

All of the staff we met were very friendly and really wanted you to have a great holiday. The hotel and staff are clean and very friendly. The bar, waiting, animation and cleaning staff work very hard.

We stayed on a all inclusive basis and were thrilled with the quality and choice of food on offer at each meal time. Breakfast, cold meats, cereal, bread pancakes or fried eggs / omeletts cooked for you while you wait, a range of hot foods. Lunch massive range of salad, veg options and 2 chefs one would cook you a pizza and the other maybe pasta dishes along with a range of hot dishes and puddings. Eve Meal exactly the same, great choice and all done on a self service basis you go and select what you want to eat. Great for fussy children or adults.

We stayed in an Ambassor suite, which was excellent, with 2 bathrrooms. It did not have a balcony, but I believe there are Ambassor suites that have them. It was cleaned everyday to 5 star level. Lots of storage space, kitchen and lounge.

The hotel has a beach bar which we tried once. The beach was very windy that day and we were visited by people selling things quite a lot. Food and drinks were available from the bar and from the bars back at the hotel. Beach is about 5 min walk away from hotel.

We visited the real Hammamet for a day. We were picked up at a bus stop by a dotto train operator looking for trade and went on a long tour around the resort whilst they filled the train up and it cost 15 din for a family of 4. We got the public bus back for 3 din, much cheaper and quicker. Tip get on at the back door as they have a cashier on the back door selling tickets, don't try and get on at the front.

A previous reviewer had mentioned a con about people coming up to you saying they are the hotel chef etc and come with them to a great shop or ask for a tip etc. This does happen so be warned.

The pools were all in excellent condition but the water is not heated so you need to be brave not great for kids that like splashing around in the pool for ages in May!

As a family we loved the hotel and would love to go back sometime.

Get this in first, Tunisia is NOT Turkey, neither is it Spain or mainland europe. Compared to the UK it is a poor Muslim country. Accept this prior to going youll be fine.
The hotel is excellent our room was a suite! Two bedrooms two bathrooms a lounge a kitchen and a small courtyard! not bad eh! The food was typical mediteranean style, It was a buffet but with wide choices and i did not have a bad meal. The staff are excellent the bar staff, the animation team all very friendly. You could put this hotel anywhere in the world and it would stand up. It was very clean.
The hotel was not full no where near full. This was said to be down to the political situation, but your loss was our gain.
The town ........... parts were ok , parts were not. YOU WILL GET HASSELED for money and please visit my shop.............. your choice!
Do not fall for men in the local area saying "Hello im your waiter can you remember me let me show you my town" They are NOT hotel staff they will try to get you into a shop!!
Also do not fall for " Government shop tax free " again not true.
I recommend El Jem to visit but the Mosque at Kirowan (spelt wrong) is dodgy. it was the only time i felt truly unnerved. I hired a cab for a day £70 to see the real Tunisea. This opened my eyes. Parts were like the set of "Black Hawk Down" and the locals were about as friendly, however i like to see these things so it was ok. Camels heads were hung from local halal stores and sheep were slaughtered by the road side.
If you go prepared you will enjoy this trip but dont expect Majorca cos it is not. The hotel itself is excellant .................................enjoy!
