“poor barman”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Excellent food, friendly staff but very poor rooms on the balcony as well as birds and droppings and feathers in the rooms. It's a shame, otherwise the hotel was good, but would have to remove the birds of the air nests and on the balconies. Only the ground floor and top floor rooms are I think without those annoying birds. Otherwise, the atmosphere is good, but worse service at the beach bar in the evening. The bartender did not want to pour and hid the bottle and said it has no alcohol. But he had hidden.

This hotel should not be online for English speaking guests as the language barrier at this hotel was as bad as i could possibly imagine , not only did we have a daily battle of pointing for things like water and lemonade and trying to speak what french we could recall from school. The hygiene level of this hotel was quite worrying as we are still battling some sort of colonic bacteria that i am quite certain we have gained from the dirty dishes, glasses, knifes and forks and the amount of flies that were constantly landing on the food not only this but during our stay here walking on there own slice of private beach i was injured almost daily by the amount of debris , broken tiles and small barbs from some sort of cactus plants that were scattered across the entire beach, there were also cigarette dimps extinguished in the sand that on numerous occasions ended up stuck between my toes not as funny as it sounds when your experiencing it.

To add insult to injury the first two night within the hotel we had stayed in someone elses bedding but hadn't realised until the cleaner who's pigeon english was just about good enough to understand told us that the bed was dirty during our first two days stay here, despite trying to complain to the reception desk we gave up due to the language barrier and the point that we were trying to make being futile and basically wasting the time of both parties.

The bathroom was a complete disgrace flooding out of the shower tray daily and creating not only electrocution risks from using the hair dryer but also slipping hazards and general uncleanliness. As we delved further into the hotel we realized that we were the only two english people at the hotel so we could not even talk to anyone else on the complex to try and see if they we having the same problems as us. The entertainment at the hotel was ridiculous it was announced in four languages and then catered only for the french dialect so we could not understand what was going on during them, also during the days we were left out of all the activities tennis , bowls, zumba and the talent contest the hotel staff also avoided even trying to speak to us due to there lack of knowing the english language despite us trying to learn there's.We did meet with our hotel representative who booked our excursions and said if we ever needed him we must only ask but after his first appearance we never spotted him at the hotel ever again.

During one of our excursions we were told to pay a premium to go on a camel ride through the sahara and a horse and carriage ride which we were quite looking forward too until we saw the state of the malnutritioned horse that was pulling the cart with five people on we outright refused to be a part of this, due to the lacerations on the horse the visible cuts and bones on the body of the horse and the amount of weight this small horse would have to carry the pigeon english speaking tour guide advised us that we may choose a horse of our own so we picked the biggest one unwillingly climbed aboard and went to see some gardens so that we would have chance to take more pictures of the amount of cruelty being done to these poor horses. During our way back from the gardens the driver of the horse and carriage was beating the tired horse as it was struggling to carry five people up a steep hill and wasn't going fast enough i found this too much to bear and shouted at the driver although he seemed confused about why we had told him to stop, due to this holiday actually advertising these trips through the hotel i find disgusting as an animal as powerful as this to be a shadow of its former self is almost too much for me to bare we should never have been allowed to see this kind of cruelty first hand.

I am honestly appalled that you would allow an english couple to go to this resort where the only english that the staff know is cheeky bugger, lovely jubbly and fish and chips it was a complete waste of our money and basically our time within the resort.

I know this is a long complaint but i assure you that everything within this complaint needs to be addressed as i would not recommend the resort to my worst enemy or the fact that the excursions that are being sold through the hotel are horrific at best the cleanliness is laughable and the food is worse.

We spend at this hotel really nice time and also at their Spa center. About hotel : this hotel has good location, you are close to the beach and also its easy to travel to center of Hammamet Yasmine. The pool and the restaurant are near to sea as well. In the restaurant you can find every evening different food, so everyone can choose what he want or like. What makes your holiday a little bit better is staff of hotel, they are nice and friendly. The whole day they have prepared many things what you can do: golf, aquagym, watersports (without engine) are included of ultra all inclusive. In the evening there is a program in the amphitheatre, where you can sit and watch.
Would like to thank you all staff of hotel.

We (2 adults and 4 young adults) stayed in this hotel beginning of July. It was our third time in Tunisia and our last!
In the hotel plan brochure it was written that this is a 4-star ultra all inclusive hotel but 2 star would be more like it! And what is ultra all inclusive?? 3 meals a day, and tea time with the same deep fried pastry every day is what we got. You can't drink the local alcohol because it tastes awful so you rather end up paying for a well known brand (which you pay a fortune for!). Is that ultra all-inclusive??
The rooms were small, not clean and needed maintenance. The balcony had bird droppings which were never cleared away. The bathroom was disgusting and the only way to get anything cleaned was if you left a tip for the cleaning lady. The beds were uncomfortable (we all complained of back ache) and when I asked for a softer pillow at reception nothing was done about it. The hotel can be quite noisy at night with music playing from the pool bar. The restaurant offered a good variety of food but it would have been more enjoyable had the crockery and cutlery been clean! There were bits of old food stuck to the plates or the plates were still wet! We complained 3 times to the Restaurant Manager and he actually seemed quite annoyed with us! What sort of service is that? The only thing nice about the hotel was the beach because it was away from the hotel. We did have a relaxing time and I do recommend a visit to the spa. If the hotel could improve it's service and cleanliness then it would be very nice as it is in a good location. One word of warning - safety in Tunisia has become an issue and our travel guide did tell us to stay in groups when venturing out and not to go to the beach at night.

The hotel is in good location - easy to travel to Hammamet or to Hammamet Yasmine.
Rooms are situated in 2 floor blocks near a sandy beach. The room was equipped with a TV, safety box (4 TND/day) and hairdryer. Cleaning service very good.
Food and drinks very tasty. Variety of food was very good - many kinds of salad, seafood, meats and Tunisian specialities. Hotel staff kind and friendly.
The only thing we did not like was the local animation. For a club hotel is the animation very soft. The evening show were unprofessional and miserable. They did not respect the multinationality of the guest and most of the program was just in french.

If you read this review and you are french add some plus points to it because this is a review from czech point of view and it is little bit different. First of all, this is a french hotel so if you speak any other language it will be disadvantage for you. Of course if it is not arabic :-)))
We came about 11 pm but they prepared for us late dinner which was nice surprise. Little bit worse surprise was the room because for three people a double room is surely not enough. So we made some complains and after twenty minutes we had finally room in the second floor because the ground floor rooms dont have safe balcony - anyone can come to take your towels etc. And this was the only disturbing point of our holidays in Salammbo. Everything else was perfect - especially the food was delicious! We didnt want to try everything the first day, so for a week it was enough time to try everything and I can say for a four star hotel it was great. The restaurant is near the sea and once in your stay you can have á la carte menu but we didnt try that. The buffet was enough. Every day is a themed so both animation team and the staff were dressed in this theme.
Room was cleaned every day and there were no qeues for drink or anything else. The hotel was quite full and for us everything went well.
The location is between Yasmine Hammamet and old Hammamet and you can go there by taxi which is really cheap.
If you are french you can join the animation but as I saw the animation team was entertaining mainly themselves.
The beach is large and close to you so basicly you can go from the sea to the pool and on the way you can have a drink at the pool bar and shower on the way back. The sellers cant go to your sunbed which is very possitive. In the afternoon there is an ice cream and some snack. In All inclusive programme you can have local drinks, only coffee is extra at the pool bar. From sports you can try golf and there are some zumba and dancing lessons too.For kids there is a miniclub as well.
I see our holidays in this hotel as one of our best and even though we are czechs they have been taking care of us very well. I can definitely imagine to come back.

Room Tip: First or second floor because of the balcony.
