“Great hotel in hammamet yasrmine”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

We stayed in solaria hammamet for 5 days ,,, we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel and we will probably go there in the future
We are a couple of algerians with a 10 months babyboy,,,, at our arrival to the hotel the guy in the reception quickly gave us a room as we had a baby with us and we came for a long trip of 8 hours by car,,,,, the room was clean,,, and it was cleaned everyday.
The pool was nice and we specially enjoyed the music overthere
The best thing for us in the hotel was the restaurent, the waiters were very friendly with a special thanks to Adel for his kindness,,, he always used to play with our little boy,,,, the food was great and with a lot of choice
Last thing to say:::: it is privably one of the best hotels in hammamet yasemine,,,, go there and enjoy your stay

I agree with most of the reviews. Just a note, this is an Iberostar normal resort, not luxury, Iberostar as various standards for their resorts and this as said is the 'normal' type. Therefore if you've been to Iberostars in Mexico, Dominican Republic or Spain, they are in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT category and really have nothing to do with this type of resort, which does not mean it is by any means bad but just at a lower level. That said, I travelled with teen daughter and it was a terrific bargin all-inclusive for 5 days travelling from Italy. We could not get this type of value for anything like this in Italy and thus the decision to come. It was a choice of value and a reliable standard and believe that was fully met. We came at beginning sept. for 5 days.
Hotel - yes they hotel at first glance was a bit of a letdown, as yes it is dated, but it really didn't bother us. The staff were nice altho' a bit of a problem with english as they understood italian better so mostly spoke that.
ROOMS - we got the beachfront 'executive' or whatever it called which was the highest level of standard room available. It was spacious and great closet space, huge bed, nice balcony, nice bathroom. no complaints whatsoever except NO italian tv stations which was weird as so close to Italy. Cleaning lady great.
Food - I found the only 'bad' thing was no possibility of outdoor dining which is always a letdown if you are staying at a beach resort. Evidently it's not physically possible. Aside that, it was buffet and personally never had a problem finding something to eat and was much better buffet than MANY all-inclusive resorts. Service quite good, sometimes joked a bit too much but no problem. I must gripe as find it 'terrible' that no dress code whatsoever and evening meals were 'amusing'; some people dressed well as this is an evening meal and nice to dress up when on vacation, but others literally came to dinner in thong sandals, shorts and t-shirts..I'm not saying men have to wear long trousers but nice to at least make an effort to 'dress' at least for dinner, but maybe that's just us. I think it would have been nice to be able to eat better at the snack bar restaurant by the pool, it's lovely area but only offer cold pizza and terrible hamburghers after 2.30 p.m. and little other choice. It's a great outdoor area which I feel is not used appropriately at all.

Pool - We walked around it the day of arrival and was packed with music and since we were there for relaxation, we always used the beach. We did not participate in animation, so can't comment on it at all altho' they did have a staff at the pool area.

Beach - Yes it's across the street but no big deal, seriously. I thought it was very small for the size of the hotel and unfortunately no food access at all which was a major letdown as therefore you had to leave the beach to have lunch which was a hassle. It only served drinks. Staff very nice and lifeguard was always helpful for beds and umbrella. Yes the beach was not exceptional as not wide and yes, alghe, alot on some days, but folks this is Tunisia and not the caribbean. We really had no big problems and having travelled to tunisia in various areas 8 times, this beach is a lot like all the others, actually it is a lot better than the Djerba area where you have a parade of animals all afternoon with manure, etc, so if you are looking for crystal water and white beach, it's not here.
Overall - I agree it's a 3-4 star resort,, it's great value for your money, you won't starve, the rooms are great and if looking for relaxation and sun at small price this is a great alternative. We did the shops and always bought at the fixed price stores which are numerous as tired of having to bargin. Got some great buys. If you want exceptional quality I would book the Riu Oceano which was outstanding but this if a great resort if watching your budget and it satisfied us fine.

Room Tip: pay the extra money and get the best room possibile. for just a bit more nice to have beach view.

The rooms were large and spotless clean, we had clean towels and clean sheets every day but the hotel needs work doing the pool beds were broken and most needed a bit of paint. This hotel was sold to us as a five star and I am afraid it was not. Food was okay but what you had for lunch you also got for dinner. Our waiters were fantastic and looked after us very well we had Adel Zommiti and Ahmedmath laythi and they were great.
The resort is very run down and the beach is horrendous I wouldn't put a foot in the water it was filthy loads of dirty plastic bottles ,dirty paper, nappies old cans and black seaweed which they were trying to clean up.
We were also told the hotel was on the beach, it was not we had to cross two roads to get to it.
There were many people unhappy about the whole area.
We were fortunate to find a beach a taxi ride away it was called Mirrormar we went there most days the sand was nice and clean and the water was a lovely green not black like outside the Hotel. We asked how much to Mirrormar and they always said 12 Dinars but we got them down to 5 Dinars so our trip was well worth going to. The Marina there is lovely and lots of nice restaurants, and they make lovely coffee's. It could be a lovely place but needs loads of work doing.

Room Tip: I think best place is 2nd floor facing the pool. This is a pool only for sitting by and having a nic...

We have just returned from the Ibersotar Solaria after 10 days. We have a lot to say so I will try to break it down simply. Overall, very good though!

Service - one of the first things that will stand out to you is that most of the staff are exceptionally friendly and happy to help, even if their english isn't amazing. The waiters at the Buffet are fantastic, with particular mention to Ahmed who was particularly attentive and always had a laugh and joke with us.

Location - you will probably see a few bad words about the location, however we can't agree. Yeah, the hotel isn't directly on the beach, but it's hardly a trek (about 200m) to the beach across the main road. However, we must admit that the Solarias private beach is slightly disappointing as the coastline is heaped with washed up seaweed. Although, you can walk about 400m down the beach and enjoy paddling or swimming a bit further down where it is clearer. We got a pedalo out into the sea for 20 dinars for an hour (about £7-8) which is lovely if you are looking for things to do and you can spot lots of Jellyfish! There is plenty of tourist shops on the road if you enjoy haggling. The marina is a short walk away which is nice.

Rooms - Sea view balcony is lovely, although you do get the occasional loud music from the beach club opposite. The room is cleaned every day to an exceptional standard. The only criticism we had is that we had to check out by 12, and our airport pick up wasn't until 9pm. It was a bit of hassle trying to get a room to get changed and shower before our flight home, we had to wait about an hour before we were offered on for half an hour at about 7pm.

Facilities - The hotel is advertised as 5* by Tunisian standards, but is actually a 4* by Brit standards. The hotel does say it has 3 pools, but actually it is 1 large pool and two smaller ones all bunched together. However, this was no problem for us as it was never too busy although the usual habit of reserving sunbeds for the best spots became to familiar. There is also a small gym that suits your basic needs. We also paid for a couples Hammam and massage at the Thalasso (spa) which was a nice treat. However, make sure you haggle with the guy as they are slightly over-priced!

Food - The buffet service has a lot on offer and does try to cater for everyone. Breakfast ranges from fresh pancakes, fruit and yoghurts, pastries and cooked breakfast. Lunch and dinner are fairly similar with loads of fresh salads, cooked meats, rice and cous cous dishes, chips and pizza if you are fussy!
All inclusive also offers the chance for you to dine at each of the A La Carte restauarants at the neighbouring Iberostar hotels. We tried both the Italian and Mexican. The Italian was rather average, with a pretty awful lasagne made out of pastry but the Mexican was quite nice so is recommended for a change of scene from the buffet. The tunisian themed night in the buffet is yummy. The bar has some rather average cocktails, strawberry dacquiri was probably my favourite and steer clear from the pina colada as it's like drinking coconut water!

Entertainment- During the day, the 'Animation Team' offer several activities included as part of your stay. These range from Archery, Football, Water Aerobics, Water polo and Ballroom dancing. My boyfriend joined in Water polo pretty much every day and was great fun, even just to watch myself. It's also a great oppurtunity to have a laugh with some of the other guests staying in the hotel. I also tried the water aerobics which was good fun and to try and burn off that breakfast buffet! The team that do these activities are a great laugh and really add to it all. The hotel also has evening entertainment which was a little disappointing. They have kareoke, a comedy show (confusing to an audience of four languages) and a stunt-style show which is good if you haven't seen anything like this before. However, these are on a weekly cycle so become quite repetitive if you are there for more than a week. There is also a shisha bar in the hotel and the shisha is cheap (we paid 5 dinars, about 2 quid) which is something to do in the evenings.

Recommendations are buying from a guy in the Hotel called Samir who offers activities like Quad biking and Pirate boat tours, both of which were fantastic. Again, haggle to get some low prices. There is also a local British bar 10 minutes down the road called the 'Rovers Return/ Shakespeare's which is also a good change of scene.

The hotel was great, nice rooms and facilities, very clean with pleasant staff. The food was good if a little samey, the dinning room staff were particulary pleasant always very willing to please, especially Adelze Moti and Ahmed Maihlauthi (sorry about the spellings boys).
The pool was clean and we always had our preffered sunbeds, the Animation staff were very friendly and often came and sat with us,the evening entertainment was a bit desperate even though my wife and I won the 'Ideal couple' competition.
The private beech opposite the hotel was fine but walk along to the public areas and it was filthy, with bags of rubbish, dirty nappies and plastice bottles (with and without urine) every where. That goes for the whole resort which to say the least is run down, bust lamposts, bare live! cables allalong the promonade, cracked and broken slabs and rubbish and horse manure everywhere too.
If you avoid the nusiance shop keepers trying to will you into the shops,go in the 'Fixed Price' ones and view the pottery and gifts, steer clear of the fake cloths and shoes the quality is terrible,we saw a 'Diesel' bag with the big metal labal upside down !
Would we go back, maybe if we could move the hotel to a better resort.

Room Tip: We had a fantastic sea view.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms, but airco did not work very well and beds were very hard.
Very good food, with friendly waiters, especially Adel Zommiti.
Nice pool, but not perfect clean
Not a 5 star hotel, more like 4 stars

I stayed in the Iberostar Solaria with my boyfriend this september, the location is poor with many run down hotels but good shop areas close by. the beach was a disapointment with black dried dirt covering the pathways and a lot of cammel faeces! hotel was good standard could not fault the service especially by our waiter Ahmed Mathlouthi who went out of his way to remember our drink orders and room number and always greeted us warmly. Pool was of good standard and nice and cold with the hot weather. I would recomend the hotel but not the location.
