“May 2013”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

We tried a week mid may 2013, after the first day of high winds and rain, weather was fantastic. All of the staff where very helpful, but as soon as I turned my back or left my partner, the male staff in restaurant and bar area where a little sleazy towards her. All reception staff couldn't do enough to help our every need. One person in particular our waiter we used all week malek. He was always friendly helpful and always smiling, he was never in appropriate, and nothing was a chore for him. My partner being a fussy eater, he always went to see the chef for anything she wanted. If you ever visit this hotel malek is the waiter to have. The hotel is very grand with a lovely lay out, superb pools. Our room was always clean, with clean bedding and towles. Mainly adults at the time of our visit, not really much there for kids. Really close to the medina and marina.

My girlfriend and our 2 year old son spent 10 days at the Solaria AI. We only paid £420 each inc flights so we didn't expect too much.

However, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation, food, drink and service. I think some people have to high expectations of 5 star holidays in places like Tunisia. This is a Undeveloped country ! If you want true 5 star luxury hotel dont go to Tunisia, go to Mexico/Caribean or somewhere far more expensive. You get what you pay for !

The Solaria has its own beach which we spent most our time at. It was the beginning of the season so the pool was a tad chilly, particular for a two year old. The pool is far too small for the size of the hotel !!!!
The beach was kept clean and life guards were always helpful if getting you a sun lounger. The stuff on the beach that looks like camel dropping is sea weed.

We were fortunate to have a sea view that overlooks the back of the hotel and the coastal road. However the was no problem with noise as we were on the 3rd floor. I room was 4 star standard really, but we were quite satisfied as it was kept clean and out sheets were cleaned every day. Minus points are that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and we had to pay for a safe. The TV only had BBC news in English but we didn't go away to watch TV.

The food was excellent for what we paid for this holiday. Far better than than what I have experienced in other advertised 5 star AI in places like Egypt. Large selection each day and they were always cooking fresh fish, beef, chicken and other meats each evening. The food was always hot and I didn't speak to anyone who was unwell during my holiday. The waiters were always polite and quick it to serve you a drink. It did not have a canteen feel like other AI resorts and the staff were attentive. Altogether very good and the food was better than some of the meals we paid for outside the resort.

Outside the resort there are limited thing to do. We went quad biking and the pirate ship trip, which was were good, but apart from that there were limited excusions available. I think we would have been a bit bored if we had gone for 2 weeks

You will be fine at the Solaria if you like a drink. The measures given were massive. More gin than tonic on most occasions.

Overall if you want a good cheap holiday away with good accommodation, food and service I would recommend the Solaria. It your holidays expectations are very high then don't go to Tunisia

Just got back from a fantastic holiday at solaria hotel, on arrival we was greeted with a drink and a warm welcome, after filling out a form we was taken to our room which was very spacious and clean, the hotel staff was so friendly, we spent a lot of time around the pool, so got to know the animation team very well, and this is why we enjoyed our holiday so much, where can i start, friendly, funny, jokers, and that was just the first day, sam, bob and rinoldo, was all so entertaining, sam was fantastic, he made our holiday so enjoyable, very charming, funny, and such a lovely guy, every day we was greeted with a hand shake and asking how we was, and was everything ok, in the restaurant there was plenty of choice of food, i am quite picky but always found something to eat, Adel heni looked after us and was very humourous and a lovely guy, the evening entertainment was ok, but we enjoyed the michael jackson dance the most, the bar staff was very friendly and always knew what we wanted to drink, the maid service was also good, our room was cleaned every day and we met the maid, she was lovely too, it was a lovely friendly atmosphere, and even the others staying at the hotel was lovely too, we met a lot of great people, we would definately stay here again, they made us feel very special x

Room Tip: choose a seaview room if possible

We had a perfect holiday. The employees if the hotel are fantastic. Especially Hechmi at the restaurant en Moez ( reception). We recommend a stay in this hotel. We recommend a room with a seaview althought on several days there was a very annoying loudiness from a private beachclub

Room Tip: When you have a chance book a room with seaview

Have just returned with our friends Jack and Ann from a great holiday at the Iberostar Solaria in Yasmin Hammamet, Tunisia. We enjoyed everything about this hotel – very clean and spacious rooms, great service, very good food, and very friendly staff. Our waiter Hechmi was always attentive and could not do enough for us.

The maids also ensured the rooms were spotless and with fresh bed linen fitted every other day. Their towel decorations of swans and flower petals made up on the beds and in the bathroom were a very artistic and photogenic touch, as well as a talking point. It must be said that all the staff were brilliant they could not do enough for us. Sam who we were dealing with for entertainment and sport activities was excellent along with the rest of his team a great bunch of guys.

All the staff when you met them would always ask how you were and were you enjoying your holiday and take time to have a blether with you nothing seemed to much trouble for them

When our friend Ann tripped and fractured her wrist (no fault of the hotel) with only a few days of our holiday left, the staff could not have been more helpful and concerned over her welfare ensuring that a taxi was called to take her and Jack to the hospital for immediate attention, not sure if the same assistance would have been forthcoming at home.

The Iberostar Solaria gets full marks from us for all round, Staff, Food, Service, Cleanliness, Friendliness - well done to everyone keep up the first class standard you are all achieving.

Four very happy Scottish holidaymakers

Just returned from a lovely relaxing break at this hotel. This was our first trip to Tunisia and we weren't sure what to expect. The hotel facilities were excellent, lovely spacious rooms, very clean and kept that way by our maid. All the staff were amazing - very friendly, couldn't do enough for you. The waiters remembered your drinks and made sure that as soon as one was finished, another was on it's way- thank you Tarek. Special thanks to Hechmi who looked after us in the dining room. Always on hand with another drink, a smile and a joke! The choice of food was excellent - spoilt for choice. The animation team were really friendly too - thanks to the gentleman who kept us entertained with water aerobics. They encouraged you to take part but, not too pushy. Great holiday and would recommend to anyone.
