We went here as very last minute deal ,,, our welcome was fantastic , we had missed evening meal buy try kept a sitting for us they welcomed us genuinely .. Had read mixed reviews but nothing prepared us for what we experienced ,,, great from start to finish ,,, food was authentic and great selection , did hear coupled saying food not up to standard but in all honesty we had no ides what they were thinking , it's a foreign country so if you don't went to eat food they have Stay at Home .. They were great with our daughter . The animation team couldn't do more , bit tongue in cheek but good fun. Pool was out of use but they still had indoor pool which was fine , would have been good to know this before but guessing maintainence has to be done sometime,,, outside locals are pests but against all instincts either ignore them or just plain no is suffice to chase them

Room Tip: Ask for pool/ sea view pay the extra always have Tunisian coins(tips)

WOW, I did not expect this, what an excellent hotel. Smack on the beach, beautiful hotel. The room (394) was lovely. The staff here are wonderful warm friendly people and if you try a few words of Arabic they will love you. On arrival we were given drinks and seated in the bar where the reception manager gave the introduction and sorted out check in. The view from the room was marvellous and we saw camels on the beach. Beware of the fruit sellers though. Our tour guide was Adie, excellent chap very helpful and quick to assist. I cannot fault this place , great value comfortable and extremely nice people.

Room Tip: choose the sea view rooms as high as poss

we arrived quite late in the evening to a very warm welcome, staff took our cases and the manager
insisted we had drinks and food. first impression, stunning with beautiful marble everywhere. our room
was exceptionally clean and beds very compfy, issue with heating but that soon got sorted by romanda
the manager who was very polite and attentive towards us, also adel, another fantastic manager and
great guy.i couldnt believe it when while having dinner, the staff brought out a birthday cake for my
wife and sang happy birthday to her, totally unexpected and much appriecated.the hotel is set right
on the golden sandy beach, only dissapointment was both outdoor pools were out of action but it is
low season and theyve got to maintain them sometime, although i didnt actually see anyone working
on them all week lol.the food was ok, it did tend to get cold quick, in the evenings they do tend to run
out of drinks and are very watered down, im not a big drinker and had about twenty doubles and felt
sober as a judge, if you want to get drunk, dont forget your duty free or go down the rovers return, ten
minute walk down the road.the animation team really work hard and try to get you involved without
being pushy, fifi and bessom both great lads and never forget your name and constantly working all
day, some of the younger bar staff had very short memories and seemed to forget the last time we
tipped them, only a couple of grumpys though, tip the maid and you get flowers and bed beautifully
arranged and imacculate.overall a great stay at the marillia and we made some wonderfull friends to
boot lol C&L

Room Tip: obviously go for the top seaview rooms, it'll be worth it

The hotel Riu Marillia was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful and we had a room with a huge balcony and lovely sea view. We returned home on 5th February 2014. The food and service was very good (apart from once mentioning the soup was cold. Not even a complaint but never heard the end of it especially from one chef who argued that it was hot!)
Before we went we didn't see any mention of problems for the less mobile with the large number of steps. There was no disabled access to either of the bars nor the shop nor the a la carte restaurant (but that was closed anyway) and the dinning room and pool area could only be reached by a large number of steps or the long way round via one of the lifts. People should be warned.
The other problem was that the hotel was too noisy for sleep if you wanted a restful holiday. The rooms really needed sound proofing and/or carpets and because of the long marble corridors with no carpeting nor soft furnishings to soak up the noise, it was hard to sleep day or night, especially as the cleaners started so early too.
Although the bar staff were lovely we had to ask for double measures before we could taste anything and we aren't big drinkers. Also the cocktails all tasted exactly the same and of nothing but sugar syrup.
Overall we loved the hotel even though the weather was cold but that wasn't their fault .
When we went it was pleasantly empty but I think there may be problems in the bars and restaurant when it is full in the summer.

Staying at riu marillia Yasmin's hammemet, new riu hotel, having stayed in many many riu hotels over the world, this riu does not disappoint,,,,, wonderful beach side position, great facilities and rooms, comfiest beds ever stayed in hotel, food varied always good choice for everyone, never missed a meal unfortunately the waistline not looking healthy,. Plenty refreshments available off all sorts,, must say has always biggest asset off riu marillia the wonderful staff, adel reception manager, rhadieun, Karmel restaurant chief, Fifee animation staff all wonderful people who work relentlessly with there staff to make your stay the best,. All staff helpful pleasant and obliging,. Would return in heart beat no problem, only downside for me lot off steps in hotel itself, and would think many bruised knees for active kiddies,,, think more suited to adults or older children. Having said that there are lifts to all levels but imagine would be very busy come summer months,,, at moment weather lovely sunny, blue skies and wonderful relaxing by the 2 large pools,.

Room Tip: Pool beach view,, higher floor views lovely and quieter,,, only two lifts in each block so. Guests w...

still in hotel at present. but leaving today. travelled alone for the first time ,and had a lovely time .as previously stated riu have not had the hotel long and are still renovating most of the rooms on the lower floors. a little noise but nothing to bad . the main pool is still empty and no work happened here during my visit, but out of season . the weather was brilliant but didn't have the need to jump in cold water . the indoor pool was heated. but smaller pool outsidelooked a bit grubby and unkept.
staff were brilliant. especially bar staff who looked after me most nights.
walked into yasmine quite a fe times and had no problem being a woman on my own. just be firm and polite and had a few laughs
food was very good always something for everyones tastes
had a few issues with guests misbehaving but reps and staff dealt with this.
unsure if the hotel will be equipped to go fully booked out in summer. but sure they will do there best
had a lovely time and rest

Room Tip: to floor less noise

My daughter & I went on a spur of the moment holiday in January- chose this hotel as had never been to Tunisia &looked like great value for money- (£232 each for flights, hotel/all inclusive with Thomson).
Hotel reception impressive on arrival, staff welcoming. Room very clean & pleasant, very comfy beds!
Restaurant staff, led by Tarek, were very friendly & helpful, buffet food suited our individual tastes well & self- service wine & drinks was enjoyed! Yes, it did get a little busy at the weekend, but maybe we were spoilt with the peace & quiet early on in the week...
Animation staff, Fifi, Bessam & Sam were very welcoming, inviting & remembered everyone's names- without being intrusive- & although I wasn't up for too many activities, preferring to relax & read, they made my teenage daughter's holiday much more enjoyable & fun! They also persuaded me to sing Karaoke for the first time ever, so they've got something! They're to be commended for the long hours they put in, whilst always showing up smiling- well done, Lads!
Spa staff a little pushy on Day One, which did put me off sitting around the pool initially- this drove us onto the beach which was peaceful- until you're hassled by camel drivers !- having been to Morocco previously, I was able to handle this, but even if I hadn't, a really lovely security guard at the hotel- Ali- would have prevented him from bothering us- he also gave us some great local tips!
Went over to Nabeul Market on the local bus- cheap! No need to go shelling out for an expensive taxi- enjoyed meeting some interesting characters there & having fun haggling! My daughter had her portrait drawn by an artist who only asked for the equivalent of 10 euro (£7) so, I paid him 15 euro as he did such a great job & wasn't pushy at all).
Not much to see otherwise, outside of the hotel- wasn't mad on Hammamet itself at all, but wasn't that fussed about getting out & about as only there for a week. Think I'd have got bored if there for two weeks though.
Met lots of lovely people of all ages & backgrounds due to the relaxed ambience.
Biggest downside was the noise at times due to the construction of the hotel- at the weekend, when more guests arrived, it was very noisy- all sounds drifted up to rooms until very late & it was very irritating at times ( & I am a night owl! if I hadn't had ear plugs I'd have gone crazy!) Apart from that, I felt that it was a great value for money holiday- we could have spent that on flights alone somewhere else! & we had fun at an otherwise miserable time of the year! Great to see the sun shining & relax before coming back to the wind, rain & reality of work! But, I'd say please do tip the staff before you leave, as I think they are the ones who put in all the hours for our cheap hols & I did feel quite guilty about that...
