“Fab holiday”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

Stayed at Belisaire from 6th April for two weeks with the family. I can honestly say it was the best hotel I have stayed in for cleanliness, friendliness and the food choice and presentation was excellent. The option to hire beach towels was one we snapped up, it meant less weight in the luggage and also meant we could have a clean one every day. Fabulous service. WIFI only works in the reception but who wants to be on wifi all day on holiday, there is plenty going on during the day!! The waiters in the bars and in the restaurant were more than friendly they made us feel welcome in their country and were extremely helpful with advice on where to go and see in the country. Imed, barman and Fidel waiter in the restaurant need a special mention most hardworking but still had time for a chat. The only problem for me was the night time entertainment which was definitely a bit of a let down. However on that note I could not fault the effort put in by the animation team they did try their best. There will be nothing stopping me from going back again and I can't wait for next year to do it all again !!

Dear Jenniwren,

We thank your for the nice words you have written about our hotel, our food, cleanliness and staff. Our main goal is to satisfy our clients, so we are very happy to read from your review that we have succeeded! Sure we will transmit your good notice to Imed and Fidel and all our helpful staff which having participate to your wellbeing.

However we regret that our evening entertainment was not exceeding to your expectation. Our animation team offers different kind of shows such as live music, professional and dancing shows involving our guests, the program is being displayed in the hall of the Reception and at the restaurant entrance. We have taken note of your comment and have shared these with our hotel Manager and concerned department to review and make necessary improvements accordingly.

The only one thing we would like to correct you on, the beach and pool towels are free of charge and were not hired in our hotel but only provided to our clients with deposit which will be returned to the client when the towel will be returned.
We are very happy to see you chose to come back again to our hotel !! we are looking forward to it!
Many tanks and Warm Regards

Reading the reviews before we booked we thought we would not have any problems. The people who put that the food was very good obviously have not been to a proper 4 or 5 star hotel. The food was terrible some mealtimes you could walk round and find nothing to eat don't know how people with kids went on birds flying round pecking food that people then put on their plates a cat roaming round dining hall. The evening entertainment was virtually no- existent and when it was it was stupid games that made people look stupid. The pool area was ok but again no snack bar or pool bar. Would I recommend this hotel definitely not.

I have just returned from a week at this hotel.

The room was clean and a fair size. The shower room could do with a bit of refurbishing but on the whole it was pleasant. Rooms were cleaned every day. I would have expected more toiletries in a 4 star hotel.

The hotel was very clean and there were some nice little seating areas. Reception staff - in fact all staff - were helpful, but when I asked them to suggested a fair price for a journey that I was going to take by taxi, I was given very different prices by each of them.

The food was very good, there was a lot of choice and options to eat out at other hotels and have different meals, for example, the Italian evening Ect. However, birds (wild) were flying in and pecking at the cakes which were on display and I did see a feral cat walking along the counter top searching for food. This was alarming, but the hotel was kept very clean in all other respects.

We didn't bother with the night time entertainment - it was mostly 'home made'.....the trips out were very expensive, both through Thomas Cook and through the guys who stand around the hotel hassling you to buy a trip, and it is much much cheaper to buy a taxi ride.

Nabeul market was fantastic, and the trip to Tunis was good. The area was fairly desolate and we took a taxi ride to Hammamet which was fine. 1001 Sheherezade nights was not good value as £31 but was offered free as part of the all inclusive. The belly dancers get on the tables at the end and men were stuffing money into their costumes....we weren't comfortable with this.

Coffee was quite foul tasting, from a machine, but good quality drinks otherwise In terms of international brands used.

You will never get a straight price for anything in Tunisia. Be prepared to barter!

Room Tip: The rooms around the adult pool were very quiet.

Dear Kathclarinet,

Thank you for posting your comment on TripAdvisor following your recent holiday at the Medina Belisaire & Thalaso.
We appreciate the compliments regarding our staff and the level of service provided as well as the cleanliness of our hotel. However we apologize for not exceed your expectation on some aspects of your stay. Our hotel management take certainly the necessary action to ensure similar situations can be avoided in the future and will improve continually the quality of our service.
As at all Tunisian traditional markets haggling is a must, so if you feel uncomfortable about it we suggest you to visit varied shops and see what people are buying and what’s for sale, comparing prices but it’s a good place to buy while you are walking or travelling around. Generally after a bit of haggling you will come to a price suitable for both of you.
We look forward to having you back again in our hotel.

Bargain holiday! Thomas Cook.
All Inclusive, well run and friendly hotel.
Entertainment if required but if not enjoy the quiet lounge bar. Free wifi.
Wonderful food with speciality food bars. Of course, as with any All Inclusive, the food can become repetitive.
ALL STAFF were a delight.
All sun beds grabbed early in the morning. However, just ask the pool guy and he will appear with one.
Beach area in need of tidying. However we were there very early in the season. Not too much to do in the local area so we only went out twice. One time we used the local taxi which was cheap and reliable.
The people of Tunisia are unlike anywhere else. Don't take the shop keepers bartering too personal. Have fun, haggle and support their local economy.

Room Tip: The rooms are very large. Our room looked over the adult quiet pool area.

Reviewed April 22, 2014

My wife and I booked a cheap last minute deal with Thomas Cook for a first holiday together without our two teenage sons who were holidaying elsewhere. We were looking just to chill out and relax in a country that we had never visited before with some decent weather. We stayed here for a week between 6th April to 13th April 2014.
Having read previous reviews regarding rooms, I sent the Hotel an email requesting a higher floor room overlooking the quiet pool. Upon arrival, we were given a drink and shown to one of the rooms that I had requested by a porter.
The room itself was fine. It was large, fairly clean and basic with a small balcony area. It could have done with updating but it didn't bother us as we knew we wouldn't be spending much time there.
There are two outside pools and one inside pool (free to use between 12pm and 3pm). As with a lot of places this time of year, the outside pools are freezing...be warned!!!
As the Hotel was only about 30% full, there was never a problem getting a sunbed (not many Germans around!). The vast majority were from the U.K.
The waiters will walk round from 10am to 5pm taking drinks orders...they work very hard and deserve a small tip. Had to get used to drinking from plastic beakers outside but can understand that broken glass could be a problem!
There are the usual activities on site i.e. table tennis, mini-golf, football, tennis, archery, darts etc and the Animation team will do their best to get you involved.
We thought the food was very good with a lot of choice, freshly cooked and served hot....even the fussy eaters should be okay!! There were no snacks available outside of breakfast, lunch and evening meal opening times.
The Evening entertainment is very low key as expected in this part of the world i.e. Bingo, Karaoke, Dancing competitions etc.
We were very lucky with the weather during our stay (early to mid 20's) as it wasn't particularly nice during the previous week.
There are different excursions available and there is also a very impressive Spa area...we cannot comment on these as we were more than happy just to enjoy the sun and relax by the pool.
As you would expect, shopping locally can be quite an experience!! The shop owners appear to be desperate for any passing trade and they can be quite intimidating and aggressive for those that have not experienced this kind of sales technique. Just be firm and polite and do not accept the first price they offer you. If you are prepared to haggle, you will purchase items at well below half the initial price!!
There isn't really a great deal to look at within the resort itself.... although there is a beach and a marina.
Overall, we had a Great time......the price was cheap, the weather was excellent, the food was very good, the staff work very hard and provide an excellent service, it was very chilled out and we met some lovely people.
Not sure whether this is a suitable Hotel for families with younger children (a bit boring for them) but would definitely recommend it for an older couple seeking a relaxing break.
