“good hotel”

belisaire is a very good hotel, nice and clean and friendly staff. we went it september after school hols so the hotel wasnt overly busy, was never really a long wait for food or drinks, i would say if you dont like pizza or pancakes you will not like this hotel. the only down side was the sales team constantly annoying you. or when they had the stalls open in the hotel the guys would not take no for a answer. tunisia can be a intimidating place if you are not used to the haggling system. dont smile at them it only helps them reel you in more. just a tip for the blokes. make sure you double check your mrs. is on the plane on the journey home you could find her replaced with a goat. (tunisian men are absolutely outrageous flirts and dogs)

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a week arriving on the Wednesday at 11.30am. We were invited for a drink while we filled out forms and given information by the staff. While our room wasn't ready until gone 2pm we went on a tour around the complex and had a few drinks in all the bar areas. The all inclusive started as soon as we arrived which was also a good sign that we made a great choice in hotel. The staff made us feel very welcoming from the word go.

When we got to our room we were very pleased as it had everything we needed.

Food was good. The Asian restaurant within the hotel was lovely too.

We would both like to thank the reception staff, and our 2 waiters Salem and I can't remember the other ones name all I no is that it began with an M.

Our second stay at the Belisaire was better than the first! had a really fabulous week. Staff as usual were fantastic, animation team worked very hard and were all very friendly! Waiting staff were always on hand to help. Special mention to "Rambo" in the quiet bar.....so wanted to bring him home! Just one word of caution......The man in the shop (not the gift shop) tried to tell me I had given him a 10 dinar note, when I had in fact given him a 20 dinar note....he even showed me his till and there were no 20's to be seen. After some deliberation he apologised and gave me the correct change! Otherwise a most superb week and I would recommend the Belisaire to anyone.

We have returned from the Belisaire today and were very impressed with the hotel, the check in was very efficient we were seated in the bar to complete the paperwork and bought a welcome cold drink, we did have to wait for our room to be ready but we had arrived at about 10am.We were able to use all the facilities immediately.

Rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious with lots of storage including a fridge, the balcony is on the small side but big enough for a table and two chairs, although the balcony furniture could do with being replaced or a lick of paint

Food was excellent lots of choice. Freshly made omelettes and pancakes for breakfast, bacon and sausage not the best but no worse than many European hotels, lunchtime and evening meals offered lots of choice including local dishes, freshly made pizzas and show cooking (grill) there was a good variety of salads and fresh fruit available at every meal. Tipping the waiters a small amount will get a table saved for you with your drinks ready for you but there are always lots of tables and waiters willing to serve you.

Bars. The bar staff worked hard some were more friendly than others, a special mention must go to Rambol who manned the Arena bar in the evening he makes the best cocktails in the hotel and was friendly and efficient keeping everywhere spotless, took a real pride in his work.

Pools. As has previously been stated there are two pools the main pool and quiet pool, we used the quiet pool, although some people did put towels out early we never struggled to get a sunbed. The hotel does supply pool towels for 10 dinar deposit the towels can be changed as often as you like and the deposit is refunded on their return when you no longer require them

Tips: Change small amounts of money at a time Change some at the airport the exchange rate is the same where ever you change it ask for some small coins should you want to tip the airport/hotel porters should you wish to use them although no need to really. Local currency is not allowed to be taken out of the country and can only be changed back at the airport and there is commission to be paid of 20-30%

Entertainment We did not watch any of the entertainment as we preferred to spend our evenings in the Arena bar chatting with other guests.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking quiet pool if you do not wish to be disturbed by evening entertainment or...

Me and my partner have just returned from the Iberostar Belisaire and had a brilliant time!!!.

After reading some of the negative reviews I was getting worried but there was no need to be. The hotel is lovely, very clean and beautifully decorated. The rooms are quite basic but immaculately clean and the housekeeping staff worked hard to keep it that way throughout our stay. I have seen that several people complained about the rooms but we don't go on holiday to sit in our room, we didn't even turn the tv on once.

There is a large variety of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner and it varied each day. I'm not a picky eater so tried a bit of everything but even if you were there is always something to eat. The food was always hot and the meat was never raw (as some people have said)

The entertainment team were brilliant and work so hard. They start at 10am and don't finish till midnight but they always have a smile for everyone. We really enjoyed the activities, which included archery, water polo, aqua aerobics and many more.... The evening entertainment was a good laugh. If you go expecting a broadway show then obviously you'll be disappointed, but if you want to have laugh and join in with the fun then you'll have a great time.

The pool areas are lovely and again very clean. The main pool is a nice size. For beds right by the pool you'll need to be up early to save beds but thats the same at any hotel. If you do get up a bit later you'll always find a bed on the grass area or on the beach.

The beach is lovely and clean. A few people have said that it's a 10 minute walk away but I think they must have gone the wrong way because you can see the beach from the back of the hotel and it's a 5 minute walk max!!. Also the road isn't filthy, there may be a couple of bits of rubbish but it's the same as any road you walk down in the UK.

Overall we had a great holiday and would definitely return to the Iberostar Belisaire!! It's not a 5 star hotel but it doesn't claim to be. I have stopped at 5 star hotels in Mexico and they were pure luxury but we paid double the amount we paid for our holiday to Tunisia.

Please ignore the negative reviews, we had a brilliant time and didn't want to leave :)

Our first family holiday and we were so disappointed with the food at the Belisaire, which is obviously a huge part of the week. There was a lot of variety but it was of very poor quality, particularly the meat. They served huge chunks of bone and marrow in most of the meat. Much of it was around for days at a time. My husband was ill for 48 hours and we ate out, for dinner, 5 times because we couldn't bear to eat at the hotel. If you like good quality chicken breast or boneless grilled meat, this is not to be found! We also ate in the Theme restaurant where the food was simply awful. Brown lettuce leaves with puckered-skinned tomatoes and a couple of strips of thin beef, followed by spring rolls which oozed oil, followed by rice and substandard meat. We then left and decided not to wait to try the fried fruit!

I also only went for breakfast two mornings because it was so below standard. There was puréed fruit or tinned fruit salad but no fresh fruit, which I would have loved. The bacon and sausages weren't even worth a look, never mind a taste. The omelettes were nice and the crepes.

The afternoon crepes were lovely and the pizza was lovely but I lived on these for 7 days. It got very repetitive.

Some of the waiters were lovely but some were very rude.

The hotel is clean and the pools are lovely. But there was a blaring disco until midnight every night and we couldn't get any sleep. My baby couldn't sleep. That's far too late when the rooms are so near to the pool and when we booked a room we weren't advised of this.

Our balcony door didn't lock which was a safety issue.
