“Close to the top of excellent”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

I have just returned from a week at this hotel and have to say it comes very close to the top of excellent. The reception staff were very welcoming and informative. The food was excellent always something for everyone and plenty of it. Always bottled water available. The diner/bar staff were excellent and one even remembered our drinks, recognition is always a plus. Could do with more sunbeds available around the 'quiet' pool as plenty of grassed area, although the hotel rule is no sunbeds reserved, this was not enforced. I would like the staff to have had name badges that you can read their name, as i already know i am at iberostar, that was all i could read. it would also make it easier to be able to name those for excellent guest service. A down side was the music around the larger pool was rather loud but as we used the quiet pool we were not too bothered.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT overlooking the main pool area and rooms numbered 200's have no lift or stair...

Good clean and tidy hotel. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. My wife is a ceoliac and requires a total gluten free menu. The chef greeted her at every meal and told her what she could and could not eat. Pool relaxing and very child friendly. This was my first all inclusive holiday but will not be my last.

Room Tip: Try to get away from the entertainment area and enjoy the quiet corner !

We stayed in the Belisaire from 30th September for ten nights. Everything ran smoothly at the airport & the transfer was only half an hour which is always a great start. When we first arrived, we were ushered into a room to fill out a visitor's form (make sure you keep it, you need it at the airport when you leave!)

We got there quite early - about 10:30, & normally check-in isn't until 12 but the reception staff got our room seen to straight away & it was ready by 11am. You can change money at the reception desk too which is quick & easy. You can also pay for the safe in the rooms which is 3,500 TND per day (just over £1 so well worth it!) Beach towel hire is free however they do ask for a 20 dinar deposit which is returned to you when you give the towel back - you can get a fresh one everyday too.

We didn't have any problems with the room, it was clean & a decent size. It was an actual kingsize bed - not just two beds pushed together! There was a bath with an overhead shower which was good. There's a shower gel dispenser & the toilet was separate from the bathroom. There's also a decent hairdryer in the bathroom as well as a bottle opener on the wall - although we didn't really understand why it was in the bathroom!?

In the lobby/reception, yes there are companies selling excursions - generally the camel ride, pirate boat & quad biking. We did the pirate boat & quad biking which were superb & excellent value for money. The pirate boat cost £25 for us both which included lunch, the pirate show & of course the 3 hour boat ride where we saw dolphins in the sea. The quad biking was also a 3 hour trip & cost £40 for both of us. If you don't want to do a trip, just say NO & they will leave you alone.. I don't understand why people find this so difficult to be honest. You'll also get hassled by the spa guy & the henna tattoo guy but seriously, they won't ask you again when you've said no!

Entertainment team - great people, such a laugh & really did try to get everyone involved. They did water polo, aqua aerobics, mini golf, archery etc. throughout the day then there was a show on a night which was largely audience orientated.

We never had any problems with the all inclusive food - there was LOADS to choose from. There a fresh pizza and pasta everyday made exactly how you want them with whatever toppings/fillings. There was a grill section with things like burgers, sausages & veg. There is a huge salad choice & lots of desserts. At breakfast there's even an omelette & pancake bar where again you can choose whatever fillings you want & it's made in front of you. We generally tipped the waiters little & often, so our drinks were always waiting for us when we came in the restaurant & were very quickly refilled! Very worth it - we tipped around 3 dinar every other day. Really not much at all.

The location of the hotel is great - 5 mins walk from the beach, 15 mins walk to the water park, theme park & main shopping areas. Taxis are also extremely cheap. When you first go on to the beach, it does look quite dirty - this is only at the entrance part to it though, when you actually get onto the beach it's very clean, we saw staff raking the sand in mornings and getting rid of any litter they found. The beach bar is great - no they don't do alcohol, this is because it is ILLEGAL to drink alcohol on the beach in Tunisia.. I think some people need to do their research before slating the hotel ;-)

All in all we never had any problems at all. Staff are really friendly - some of them do have odd senses of humour but it's funny really! Oh & also the bar that's in the reception area make proper cocktails which are fab.. Unfortunately this bar doesn't open until 5pm but cocktails are available from the other bars throughout the day, they're just not as nice! People do reserve sun loungers ridiculously early, but this isn't actually allowed by the hotel, so if you go up to the lifeguard or security guard if you can't find sun loungers they will find you some even if it means throwing someone else's towels off!

We would definitely recommend this hotel & we are already thinking of returning next year :-)

Have just returned from this hotel - fabulous weather.
Good - rooms and main areas very very clean.
Food as you would expect for AI but better. Lots of choice and plenty of it. Freshly cooked and very tasty.
Drinks very generous (at times too generous!)
Reception staff really helpful and knowlegeable and always with a smile.
Nice quiet bar if needed.
Helpful staff on gates when you venture out (rarely do these folk get a mention).
Lots of bottled water freely available (which was needed due to heat).
Not so good
Some fabulous waitors who really like to please (thank you to them)
But
Others really could not be bothered and one felt as if they were doing you a favour
Quiet pool area was not clean - lots of dog ends and I smoke and guests shiuld really look for an ashtray but even so a sweep of a brush would have helped.
Very loud musicin main pool but quiet pool very sound insulated.
Guest directory has lots of rules i.e no towels on beds, no inflatables, no swimsuits in restaurants - all sadly ignored by guests and staff (perhaps I am too British!).

Bad
Not enough sun beds - see above.
General manager Jermaine (french and only interrsted in french guests to the extent he ignored all other nationalities despite he was front of house).
Toilets in bar and recreational areas often ran out of soap and loo paper.
Entertainment repetative (but minor irritation).

Good things - taxis really cheap.
Little train costs more than taxis but good fun.

Bad things
Donot take trip to Carthage and Tunis including blue and white village with TTS. Guide terrible and coach trip awful and as for lunch!!! BUT a trip to Tunis souk worth doing (for anyone who has been to Maracech - very similar and fascinating without the tanneries.

Nice relaxing week in hot sunshine and only 2 hoours flight. Worth doing.

Room Tip: Make sure air con is working..

We went to Belisaire in September and found the whole holiday very very good !!!
The hotel was nice and clean with great food, drinks and choice. We paid a very nice old waiter just 10 dina (£4) and he was there regular making sure we had drinks and bottles of water all day, every day. The same goes for the beach life guard but he got my old England football shirt and cheers from everybody around. The entertainment and staff were very good all day and evening and very friendly. The beach was great and so was the pool although at times difficult getting a sun bed. Paragliding was ace and so was the quad bikes but the pirate ship is rubbish if you cannot get upstairs (depending on when you get there) and not worth the money with poor food too. The marina is a short walk or taxi ride away with nice shops and restaurants.
All in all it was brilliant !! Great hotel, food, drink, staff, beach & sea, things to do and to top it off we had fantastic weather too !!!

I travelled to bellisaire in may with my family, the hotel is really good and the animation team were amazing especially richardo. The resteraunt has lovely staff and your table is always set out for you when you come in. There is plenty to eat and its very tasty, the beach is lovely just down the road and theres lost of activities to do like pargliding, parasailing, canoeing, bannana boat ect.. also at the marina there is a pirate ship that takes you out into the sea and has a pirate show and a barbecue. The taxi fares is very cheap but this is a WARNING , make sure they have there meter on because they sometimes pretend is broke so they can get more money. During my stay at belisaire the staff were very friendly and welcomed you to the hotel. There was a few shops and resteraunts nearby and in the hotel there was a shop that sold lots of things also a shop with coverse, football tops ect.. if your looking for a hotel in hammamet , bellisaire is the one:) well theres not much more to say and i hoped my review helped.
