“Very hard to evaluate”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

So... it's definitely hard to evaluate this hotel.

If you just want to sleep, eat, drink, to use the pools and to go to the beach, it's more than enough. But, for an all-inclusive, that's not enough. They claim they have minigolf, and they have... one hole, full of grass. They claim they have archery, and they have, one target, located 1 meter from the shooting position. The table tennis balls were broken and the beachvolley ball was empty. You can only use the kayaks once in a week. There were two lifts in the lobby. One of them didn't work. And so on...

But the beach was clean and beautiful, the pools are great, the food is very reasonable and the rooms are very good, except the one they gave for the first night: the beds were undone, the carpet had hair and there were blood drops on the floor. And the beds were two wooden boards with matressess on them. But definitely i was unlucky, because the next room they gave me, was awesome. A piece of advice: always ask for rooms next to the lobby. They are better.

Friendly hotel with all-inclusive ... but you should know that is good to dodge fresh food. I ate only unpeeled fruit and boiled things.Rooms were clean, service was good. I was there in new year time and there was a great New Year's party. All guest really enjoyed. Dinner was surprisingly tasty and very well prepared.

My husband and spent two weeks here in August, we arrived at the hotel about midnight. Very efficient check in although i may say the reception staff weren't the most helpful but it didn't really bother us. Our room was lovely big and clean, it was nice that they left a bottle of water and fanta ready for you(this was replaced every day...ish) we were suprised that we had a sea view room which was lovely! There is a digital safe which is brilliant as you don't have to carry a key everywhere with you. The food is ok, average for a 4 star all inc. we aren't picky eaters what so ever so there was always something to eat, always fresh pizza and pasta if you aren't keen on the main dishes. The restaurants in the hotel are also very nice, I enjoyed the Italian the best although the Tunisian was also lovely and is situated in a lovely room with a fantastic ceiling. The snack bar is also good, pizza burgers chips are perfect when your sat round the pool. One thing I was disappointed about is the size of the drinks they are served in tiny plastic cups which is not great when you are dying of thirst in the blazing heat. Also the waiters and bar guys aren't the friendliest when you arrive however we thought they seemed to thaw out once they had seen you around for a few days. Also if you leave a few dinars tip they will then go out of their way for you the rest of your holiday. If you do have kids all the staff are fantastic with them and keep them entertained all day for you. We went on a trip organised by the captain guy around the pool, we went quad biking. It's very much worth going as you see some lovely views, remember to take your camera! Location of the hotel is fantastic, the beach is ok, could really benefit from a good raking over once or twice a week as it is full of cigarette ends which isn't very nice, but then again people shouldn't just drop them on the floor! All in all we had a lovely holiday and would defainatly return to Tunisia. I think that the hotel could really do with modernising, the hammamet next door was decorated much nicer obviously had been renovated recently. I would reccomend this hotel and this resort very good value for money!

Where do we begin.......

My parents stayed at this hotel last year and couldnt praise it enough, so when looking for a last minute holiday 3 weeks ago, this hotel come up, we thought we would give it a try.
So my husband, son, my parents and I jetted off there for a week last saturday (14th July)
On arrival the hotel seemed pleasant enough and you really couldnt fault its location, so we seemed pretty happy with our choice, however this was very short lived.......

Service:

On check in, despite the hotel receiving written instructions for a lower floor room due to a young child and disabled person being in the party, we were given 4th floor rooms at either end of the hotel, to which we had to complain to get them changed as per our requirements

We had arrived just in time for their dinner service, where a more than pleasant waiter showed us to our table, the service he provided was good being very attentative with drinks and clearing away, but this soon changed as the week progressed where we would have to wait for a drink that is if one ever appeared and plates would be stacked in the centre of the table before they would clear them,

All of the soft drinks were served warm from 1.5l bottles, you had a job to try and get ice and that was only available at the lobby bar,, with the temperature being in the mid 30's it was a nightmare, and the majority of drinks (especially soft drinks) were served in flimsy plastic glasses which barely held a mouthful and this was even in the lobby area of the hotel which looked quite poor

There appeared to be some waiting staff servicing the poolside, however they only appeared to service one side of the pool, and that was only the parasolled areas, which it was impossible to get a bed after 6am, being banished to the other side of the pool we had no chance of getting a drink other than trekking to one of the bars.

Having a room overlooking the swimming pools, only once during the whole week did we see the pool being cleaned or treated and that was on the friday before we left

We had no hot water in our room for the majority of our stay, in which we informed reception on numerous occasions, to which they said maintenance would be up, but never appeared, on the 3rd day we met with the General Manager of the hotel to express our frustrations, to which he sent maintenance to the room immediately to resolve the issue - it appeared that it had been switched off from outside the room, this worked for one day but by day 5 we had no hot water again.....thank god my parents room was opposite as we used their shower for the duration of the stay - funnily we tried to express this to the tour operator representative to which she advised us that they were very busy

The rooms were generally clean and spacious, and cleaned to a satisfactory standard, but having visited tunisia on other occasions it was always an excitement to see what ornamental feature they had created with the bed linen on returning to your room at this hotel to get your bed made was as far as they had gone, which was sad, as the ornamental features had been done the year prior.

One day we ventured down to the beach in which the beach attendant was very helpful. My husband and I took our 4 yr old son out on a pedalo but the pedalo didnt have a rudder so while at sea my husband had to swim back to the beach pulling the pedalo, to which the watersports attendants found quite amusing - this could have posed a very dangerous situation

The staff in reception, especially the female employee was very rude - my mother had her bag stolen from the poolside area whilst fetching a drink, to which we were informed it was tough, also on trying to book a taxi on the last day to depart the hotel for the airport quicker, she was reluctant to help arrange a taxi saying that we would have to get the bus, eventually after talking to the porter she did contact a taxi, however inflating the cost by over 50% (taxi cost 70tsd, her quote 110tsd), so we managed to track one down on the street

Also the small shop in the hotel managed to con my mother out of 5tsd when she made a small purchase of some sweets for my son, you expect to barter with the street traders, but you do not expect this from hotel fixed price shop

Food:

The food served at this hotel was very poor and appeared to be pretty much constantly the same and all not served particularly warm, not being and adventurous eater, i stuck to the plainest food possible which was rice, potatoes and chicken and as andrew s commented on his review, I also have been hit with some kind of poisoning to which I am still suffering with since last Weds and am still unable to eat anything, Having seen the doctor, I was advised to drink lots of water also several other people have been poorly at the same time as the "infirmary" was constantly present at the hotel since Weds and also the "hygenist" was seen on numerous occasions. Again on asking if there was any bugs in the hotel, we were advised no, but from the constant presence of the doctor and hygenist, it tells a different story

The hotel also has an a la carte restaurant offering either a tunisian, turkish or italian evenings - we booked for the turkish and the italian - for speed, it can give Mcdonalds a run for their money, having sat down at 7.30 for a four course meal it had been fully completed by 8.15. unlike most a la carte restaurants, you had to make your choice of main course known at the booking time, and you could choose between either chicken or lamb (turkish night) or beef and chicken (italian night). As you were finishing one course, the next was already being presented and again unfortunately served pretty cold and for a spaghetti carbonara, it doesnt do it well and I didn’t think that beef was Italian for spam, cause that is what you got

My parents were very disappointed having praised the quality of the hotel back in June 2011, to the standard of it today, Im not sure why or how the quality of the service, food and general attitude of the hotel has deteriorated so much in a 12 month. It is a shame as the hotel has a lot of potential to be a great hotel worthy of 4 stars

I can safely say that I will not return to this hotel and it has left such a bad taste that I dont think that neither my parents whom have previously visited this country on more than 10 occasions nor I wish to return to Tunisia as the people just did not seem to care anymore

Ps if you do make it to Yasmine Hammamet, make sure you take a trip on the pirate ship, but book at the kiosks at the marina and use the Sultan II Ship as I felt they were the only people during the whole trip that didnt try to rip you off and actually earned their money :-)

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the pool area can get quite loud with the animation team and evening shows

big rooms , big indoor swimming pool in ideal temperature, big outdoor swimming pool. It has also very good spa and gym facilities. It is in a good location near the beach. Big variety of foods but they must improve the taste.

The hotel is clean and there is ALWAYS somewhere to eat or drink. The staff are very polite and friendly. Please don't be put off by the bad reviews its a very nice hotel and great location. My tip is to go to their MANY shops in the evening, they are open late and there are LOTS of them. Go to the bazaar across the garden area, Its great. I will definately be going back. The food was better than average and plenty of choice. All round good holiday, one of the best :-)

Room Tip: Sea view upgrade. worth every penny

Had a great time at this hotel, room good, staff good, food always available and always something nice to choose, coffee, snaks and drinks available all day and night. night club, loud, dark, good music, just the job.
One BIG problem was the first half of our holiday there were lots of Germans and guess what they put towels on the beds and went off sometimes for hours.
We did not lay on the beach all week because there were never available beds. we went in May so it must be a nightmare in the busy season.
This practice needs to be stopped, we have been to hammamet before and it was not allowed so much more pleasent.
entertainment was dissapointing.
overall a good holiday and would go back as the cost of the holiday was a bargain.

Room Tip: dont change your money untill you get to the hotel reception and only do it as and when you need it...
