“A touch of authenticity”
Review of Medina of Hammamet

Reviewed August 22, 2014

This is a tiny medina compared to nearby Sousse but it is worth a visit if you are staying in Yasmine Hammamet. Here you will find carpets, ceramics, jewellery etc at very reasonable prices if you can stand your ground and haggle. Usually you can pay about a third of the asking price. The adjacent Kasbah is an attractive landmark and the decorated doors make nice backdrops for photos. You only need about an hour to spare to visit the medina which is close to a wide sandy beach.Expect to pay 10 dinar by taxi from Yasmine.

Very vibrant and busy place. If you like to seek a bargain and shop for designer copies, then great.

A collection of small shops run by very good salesmen selling tourist tat. Go to a shop up the road for the same tat but cheaper

The market was just as you would expect, very samey and lots of locals trying to get you to buy from them. Didn't feel under pressure though.

I could not believe the hassle we got when we went into the medina, they would not leave you alone it is very intimidating they would get so much more business if they left you to browse without being pushy.
