Lovely hotel but don't visit just before Ramadan. Very very busy and you would be lucky to get a sun bed on the beach all reserved for the Tunisians that may or not appear with their extended family some time in the afternoon! Day visitors plentiful and have kept the beach boys sweet with money to reserve the beds for them. Even during Ramadan when it had quietened down beds still reserved for the new money boys and their speed boats that come in by sea to have lunch again with friends and extended family. I have no problem with visitors at the hotel but not at the determent of the guest having to fight for a space or bed on the beach!! Beach not kept clean, one side cleaner that the other. Sad lack of bins, ashtrays emptied into the sand at night!! Food brought to the beach for lunch was fantastic and some of the waiters were fantastic and others not. Getting a towel in the morning for the beach was an art in its self, no designated station and not even sure that some of them had been washed from the day before!! In all beach experience not great but it could have been, even spoke to the GM, as did a few of us, promised the earth but failed to deliver! First room tiny, but got changed no problem. Not a great view but not many have, kept clean and all chamber girls/ladies all very pleasant. Breakfast ok, nothing to write home about. Plates cracked and where the food was stored not great looking. Had to keep asking for things to be replenished. Crepe and omelette man amazing, worked his socks off he could have done with a bit of help, but he always had a smile on his face even though he was under pressure. Area to the side of him was disgusting cant believe a 5 star hotel would allow guest to see this!
Food in restaurants fantastic and not that expensive compared to UK prices. Fillet steaks amazing. Reception area a huge let down, very old fashioned and not impressive. Hotel could be top notch as the grounds are beautiful the infinite pool area is awesome, there is potential but it just misses.

An older, lovely resort on a nice beach. The beach has plenty of loungers, towels and straw umbrellas (maybe because the hotel was at minimum capacity). The food was plentiful and varied. It is a nice walk to the local medina and local shops. Free wifi and (3) computers are available in the lobby. The hotel does NOT allow guests to bring in drinks or food. The hotel has a great endless pool as well as a large outdoor swimming pool and an indoor pool in the spa.
Guests were comprised of mostly older European adults. There were a handful of preschool children at the resort.

Room Tip: Request a seaview!

We stayed at this hotel first week of October and I will try and give a factual review

Location:
Very good. About 1.5kms from Hammamet old town. It takes about 20 mins to walk there on the beach and 25 mins on the road (we walked it after dark without any issues). Lots of restaurants & food stores in the old town. There are other facilities on the main road by the hotel but we never tried anything there.

Beach:
Very well maintained and cleaned throughout the day. Warm & calm water, fine sand. Lots of sunbeds & got a front row sunbed even at 11am. Never tipped yet we got prompt service. It is much more crowded at the weekend but still got sunbed at the second row. Beach tower is provided but not a great quality. Beach sellers regularly pass by but don't harrass guests.

Pool:
There are 2 outdoor pools. One is enclosed and looks a bit soulless. The other one is a very pretty infinitive pool however there are no sunbeds around it so not many swimmers. There is no entertainment or loud music around the pools or beach.

Breakfast:
Good (but not extensive) range of food. (bakery products, cold meats, cheese, eggs, pancake, fruit, some cooked food each day, breakfast cereals, salad stuff) Nice outdoor space to have breakfast, good service without tipping.

Room:
Very spacious and well maintained. Bedroom + sitting room + balcony and large bathroom. No tea & coffee making facilities. Shampoo and other stuff is provided, bathrobe, hairdrier, safe (free of charge), flat screen tv, aircon

Grounds:
The hotel is a labirinth of bungallows with very well maintained gardens in between. It feels very quiet and tranquil.

Service was very good and polite. We never felt that tips were expected and got a prompt service regardless. Front desk helped us with transfer back to airport even though we booked it with a different company.

Didn't like: there is a policy of no food and drinks to be brought into the hotel. We did buy drinks from the shops regardless as it is much cheaper, however it made me feel quilty.
The towers at the beach are not a great quality.

I have to add that I felt very safe there and never had any harrasment from staff or from men in general. In the medina there was a bit of a hard sale going on but nowhere near as bad as I expected from reviews on tripadvisor.

Don't get me wrong this is a lovely place to have a holiday but the hotel just doesn't get it quite right. The beach is fantastic but I'm now going to have a moan. At breakfast there aren't half enough teapots or egg cups and if you leave it to 9am half the choices from the buffet will be gone. Next the beach towels are stained - bring your own and there is rubbish in the grounds everywhere. Service is good but if you want a table where your not sat on your neighbours lap then you better tip the head waiter on the first night. Just a few small changes could make this great hotel instead of just a good one.

I stayed in the Sindbad hotel for a week and it was wonderful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and as there were a number of restaurants on site there was always something different for dinner. There was also a little shop nearby for buying bottled water or snacks, for any road trips that you head off on. The beach and pool were kept extremely well and the staff were more than willing to supply additional towel etc. on request. As this is not a newly built hotel it did not have the usual high-rise impersonal feel that many others in the area have and the village style layout added to its romantic charm. I would definitely stay there again if returning to Tunisia.
