1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

I was a little concerned about the reviews I have read about Tunisia and our hotel before leaving, but remained optimistic.

The hotel room was awful, sticky dirty floor, mouldy walls, chipping paint and the view of the back of a water slide and bush. But the worst part was the constant water pipes which squealed loudly all night keeping me awake! Eventually at 5am I had had enough and had to complain about my lack of sleep. We were promptly moved to another room which was much better (pool view), on the 3rd floor, but the lift was out of order for most of our stay. Many rooms have broken doors or no doors. It is a very large run down hotel which needs a lot of maintaining.

On our 4th night there we were confronted by one of the waiters who demanded that my partner bring him 2 glasses of whiskey from the all inclusive bar and leave it on the table after we had finished eating, so that he could drink them after his shift!! He was very pushy about it and we refused to entertain his alcohol habit. The next day he sarcastically came to say "Thank you.....for you know what!"

The food was edible most days, some days were better than others. There was a good variety at meal times and we always found something we could eat.

The all inclusive local alcoholic drinks were a joke!! They were completely watered down and I didn't even get close to tipsy once, so I just decided to stick to water or drank non-alcoholic drinks instead of fooling my taste buds.

Tunisians are the rudest people I have ever come across. We got spat at because we decided not to go into a vendors store to have a look at his merchandise.
We were told NOT to come back to another store after being hassled into buy something that was way overpriced!!

For a country which relies on tourism for their income, they have a lot to learn and they will remain poor if they keep treating tourists like they are unwelcome pests. I can understand why the Russians are rude to them now.

I will not be returning to this country even if you paid me. The weather was nice and the beaches ok, the fruit was good, but that was about it!

Room Tip: Catered mainly for the Russian clientele. So if you are not Russian, good luck understanding anythin...

As soon as we got off the plane and were surrounded by guys insisting they should take our cases and then demanding dina from us (none of which we had, as we hadn't had chance to change up any money) we should have known our stay was not going to be smooth. I will try to be fair and balanced about the hotel. We went as a party of 8 (2 to a room). The rooms were ok and cleaned daily. However, one of the rooms toilet was broken for almost the entire stay, despite numerous please to fix it. Our water went brown for a while and there was no air conditioning (apparently not put on until high season) One of the rooms had no water for a while. Fortunately we could help each other out. We were in the minority of English guests, mostly German and Russian and some French. Announcements can be difficult to understand and quite often hard to get anyone to understand you. The entertainment guys work hard, but beware, it is you the guest who are the entertainment when going to their club. Im not an anti smoker, but everyone seemed to smoke almost everywhere. We made a point of asking if smoking was allowed in the club to which they said no, so we went with our pregnant daughter in law and another couple with 2 small children, and yet again more smoking!! I do think it's fine to have designated smoking areas, but to make sure non smoking places are kept NON smoking! The food............. to be fair it's not much different to other Tunisian hotels, they do try to give a selection, but we found little of it edible and tended to live on carbs. I do think simple things like when cooking chicken, not using the same impliment on the raw chicken on the cooked chicken should be adhered to. I did try some chicken despite this and it was still pink in the middle. There were none of the promised burgers hotdogs and ice cream snacks, but we were told this does not start until June (we went 19th May). They do make crepes and there are stale rolls and cake if you get peckish. One of the pools was too dirty to use and some of the outside areas are apalling. Chairs falling apart and broken table. The main pool did get cleaned while we were there, but it really wasn't very clean atall. They are very generous when it comes to supplying bottled water and most of the staff very nice. All inclusive conjures up thoughts of being able to enjoy a few drinks without having to pay. Don not be fooled. The beer is very weak and the spirits are local ones that have been watered down (this was confirmed to me by someone there). You could drink their cocktails all day and still be able to walk in a straight line and recite shakespear at ease. Forget the booze, so glad we took our own. I do reccommend the steak house, you can't miss it. Amazing steak, great prices and very friendly staff. This was our second attempt at holidaying in Tunisia and sadly will be our last. Just not for us.

Room Tip: Higher floors have bigger rooms

We wanted a relaxing fly and flop, taking little kids with us to Les Orangers. Don't really do beach holidays, but we have kids now and this was ideal. We travelled mid April and the weather was sunny and about 25C. The resort was very nice. The room overlooked the sandy beach. The water was warm. The staff at the hotel couldn't have been nicer. The food was really good and the drink was free. Exactly what we were looking for.
In all honesty, we didnt get out much (because of littleuns), but there would have been plenty of opportunity to get out to the town or to day trip to various places.
Might have been driven mad if I stayed put for another week, but a week was just right.
Not my usual holiday style, but was great for what it was.

Room Tip: We chose one of the deluxe rooms which overlooked the beach. Didn't cost much more over space of...

Myself my husband and 12yr old son booked this hotel last minute so got it got a very good price for 2 weeks all inclusive. The hotel on arrival was very busy so we were taken to a quiet area of the hotel to have some lunch which was very thoughtful after travelling for many hours.
We were then given our room straight away which was very clean and spacious.
The pool and hotel grounds were well kept and as it was only the second week that the hotel was open a variety of things were I available for my son so take part in such as tennis archery and other entertainment due to lack of resources. But that never stopped him as the entertainers kept him busy with ping pong as they couldn't beat him off the table lol Jay billy and Said fabulous team of lads they do a brilliant job.
The food at the hotel was gorgeous never had a day where we didn't like anything always a lovely variety.
A week into our holiday a school trip arrived with 55 young boys who as you can imagine were rather noisy in the nights so we asked to move and straight away Sonia at reception moved us very efficient.
Overall our holiday was 5* can't wait to go back miss you all.
Oh and not forgetting the bar staff and waiters and chefs who were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you xx

I spent a week at this hotel mid march as an early waster holiday get away as a young couple and for what we wanted it was eat, we couldn't fault the hotel or the staff and the food was always different and enjoyable. We managed to find a cheap deal for our holiday so we feel we got a lot for our money.

Our only issue was the timing of the holiday as it everything was up and running in general but don't let this put you off as we felt so relaxed and refreshed all holiday and got to see the sun! This would be a great place for families, couples or even groups and especially in the summer with its great facilities and with all inclusive, everything you could want.

Last week we took 55 students to this hotel. We were very pleased with the reception that we got. All students were welcomed by staff and offered a welcome drink. Rooms were cleaned twice and towels changed daily. Excellent variety of food and good selection of cakes and fruits . There was something for all tastes and diet restrictions. Staff were very helpful and polite. Each room has a balcony which opens to beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Students enjoyed their stay in hotel to a point that every day they were asking to go back to hotel sooner. This is because there is so much activity in the hotel, such as games room, football, tennis, archery..... I also have to mention the SPA facilities with reasonable prices. I keep going back to this hotel and each time enjoy it more. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are bigger.

Don't know which hotel the other reviews are for but it's not hammamet garden. Food average entertainment average , lifts were broken , water to room was disconnected on second day pool for infants was dirty and had glass in, maintenance was going on during our stay so place was noises around the pool due to grinding of slabs only decent point is bar staff and waiters are excellent. The beach would be nice if they bothered to clean it, definately not 4 star

Dear Customer,

We would like first to thank you for your comments.

We already took note of the issues you have stated for to follow up and rectify.

With regards to the beach as officialy it will be operational from May onwards, we already started to clean and set up all equipment to get ready for summer season.

Regarding glass in the infent pool, it was one of the holiday makers who's done it accidently although galsses are not allowod around the swimming pooln then as soon as we noticed the incident, we've immediately sent someone to first empty the pool the cleaned it.

The lift was also fixed.

We appologise for the inconvenience caused and look forward to see you again on holoday with us and will do our best to make your stay more enjoyable.

With Best Regards,
Sami Akri
