“AMAZING HOTEL, AMAZING HOLIDAY!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

I travelled with my partner between the 22nd June until the 30th June 2013, and I can honestly say that we didn't want to come home!!
The room we stayed in was absolutely brilliant. As I read in previous reviews, the hotel are renovating the rooms throughout the hotel, and we were lucky enough to stay in one of the newly designed rooms! It was clean, spacious and extremely modern, it was like being in paradise! The beds were very comfy and we both slept well every night without fail.
The staff were also brilliant! The waiters were extremely efficient and always did everything that we asked of them! Our waiter most nights was Wael Hajri and he was absolutely excellent! The minute our glasses were empty we were instantly brought another!
This brings me onto the food. I often visit all inclusive hotels and I have to say, I was a little disappointed about the lack of meat at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The selection was amazing, there was a lot of pizza, pasta, vegetarian dishes, soups and all sorts, however there was only ever fish and hardly ever another choice of meat. As well as this, at breakfast the hotel catered for German and French guests, however there was no form of English breakfast, so no bacon, beans, scrambled eggs etc. But on the up side, the food tasted delicious and we never went hungry, especially with the amount of watermelon we both went through!
Our holiday was amazing, but who made it better but the animation team! We particularly got on with MIKE!, Titi, Shaggy and The Mouse!! As we understand, Mike was new to the team and he made a particular impression on us, he made an effort to remember our names and to make sure we were having a lovely holiday!! The whole animation team were so so brilliant, definitely the best animation team that I have ever experienced at any hotel, and it was so sad to say goodbye to all of them when we left!
Both of the pools were lovely too. We mainly went to the large pool with the pool bar as the other pool tended to be the quieter pool for people to relax. The only flaw that we had about the pools was the temperature. They were very cold when we first got in however they did warm up the longer you were in there. However as I understand it, June is still early season so the pools do get warmer as summer comes along.
We sincerely compliment the pancake man. We were regular visitors and had atleast one every day! You could get sweet/savoury crepes/pancakes of all kinds and they were absolutely delicious, and of course part of the all inclusive too!
We visited the market twice and were only ever hassled twice, but overall it was generally fine! Taxis to both Old and New Medina were no more than 6 dinar (about £2.40) so it was very cheap and also very safe. I would recommend visiting Old Medina, we found an excellent shop where there was zero hassle and it was also extremely cheap!! We bought both of our families presents there and they were all much appreciated!
We were so sad to leave and to say goodbye to all of the animation team, a week really is not long enough!! We highly recommend this hotel, and we are already saving our money to come again next year for our second visit!! If you are treating yourself to this hotel in the future then I have to say that I am extremely jealous!

We stayed at the hotel for 10 days returning a few days ago. Overall we did enjoy our holiday but there were things that put us off.
We knew it was a tipping culture, but we didn't realise that they expected tips for everything. On our first day we had no cutlery or drinks until we began to tip, however most of them do appreciate the tips and do look after you when you do tip them. However, this is probably the same in most Tunisian hotels as it is the culture.
The animation team were very friendly and tried their best to make your holiday enjoyable. They put on fairly good shows every night and spoke to everyone around the pool. But As with most hotels, it gets annoying with them asking you again and again to do activities, buy t shirts and CDs etc but they are only doing their job. If it wasn't for the animation team it would be quite boring!
After the show in the evening there was nothing to do except drink in the lobby or go back to your room. You can get a taxi to Yasmin hammamet (taxis are very cheap) but there isn't much more to do there and they do hassle as its their culture. People will tell you they are your chef etc from your hotel to get money so beware!!
At the phenicia we had the supreme rooms which were done up very well it was just a shame about the view of the drainage system! Also, you must pay extra for the use of the safe which we thought wasn't fair.
We used a regular room to freshen up to leave for the air port at the end of our stay and I wouldn't want to stay in them. It was good they lent us a room to freshen up, however they wouldn't provide fresh towels and the room wasn't cleaned, it was left with the last peoples glasses, bottles and their left overs of money, toiletries, dirty towels etc.
The pools and beach were lovely, and from what we saw from the other hotels along our beach ours were one of the nicest and cleanest. You can hire towels from the lady in the shop if you leave a deposit.
The hotel had lots to do in the day with animation activities, varied excursions and water sports. There is also stables on site and camels you can ride on the beach. You can go to the old and new medina from the hotel and there is the nebul market on Fridays too.
The food was of good quality and there was quite a lot if choice, but as with most all inclusive hotels food does get repetitive. When you get to the hotel, you must choose when you want your evening meal and that will be your time for the rest of the stay which was annoying! If you pick the early slot you feel rushed and if you pick the later then it's hard to get seats for the show.
Overall, it was a nice holiday but wouldn't go back. Perhaps if it would be better for an older couple as they enjoyed it much more than the younger couples.

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much – your comment had our best attention. It is a pity we couldn’t fullfil your personal expectations – we are aware that improvements are always possible, changing local or
typical behavior might be quite difficult. Luckily you had overall “a nice holiday”.

Best regards – may be you will return one day

This was my first visit to the phenicia, which was highly recommended by my parents who went last year and also came with us this year. the hotel was very clean and the food was outstanding along with the staff of the hotel. the animation team were absolutely fantastic and made our holiday very special, especially Lotfi AKA Rio he went the extra mile to make sure we were ok and came looking for us every morning to ask if everything was ok and if we had a good sleep, also the head of the animation team Amin AKA Vin Diesel was very helpful and always made sure you were ok and having a good time. All the animation team work so hard and all the shows were very good considering the amount of time they had to rehearse especially the comedy shows they were very funny. there was never anytime to get bored as the animation team had so many activities for you to do and always involved as many people as the could. we enjoyed it so much the day after we got back we booked up again for next year. I would recommend this hotel to anyone excellent value for money with fantastic staff. Jamie Boatman

I Spent last week at hotel Phenicia. It had been a couple of years since heading for an all inclusive fun in the sun kind of holiday and Tunisia is somewhere I had wanted to visit for a while.

What can I say... one of the funnest hotel I have been to.
The hotel itself is massive, the private beach is beautiful, the people are fun and kept me laughing and smiling constantly.

The animation team are massively hard working as are all the staff. I don’t know how they manage to keep up with it all, with the heat and the amount of work they have to do.
Mira a complete sweetheart, She dances her little heart out everyday. I have a real soft spot for her and she’s the kind of girl you just want to go shopping and drink cocktails with (yes always shopping and cocktails on my mind!) So look after her if you visit the hotel :)
Mario, Nino (Mowgli, only call him that from now on) Rio are hilarious and crazy.
Bibo, Harry, Nemo theres too many people to mention who are just lovely. Also check out the crazy melon man who makes faces and sculptures out of them, SO RAD.

The hotel has lots of activities to do (if you’re not as lazy as me) there's horse riding, archery, yoga, salsa, pilates, zumba etc. The location of Hammamet is pretty perfect too, a cab ride to the marina is only 5 dinar, the roman ruins is only a short walk away from the hotel and there are lots of bars, cafes and shisha places to go to in the evening and investigate.

I would also recommend booking the berber restaurant, as to try something a bit different. I'm a vegeterian, and didn't particularly go for the food. I just thought it looked really cool and even though I didn't tell them until I was there, he came over with pasta for me which was really sweet.

All in all a very good holiday and I have some great memories, If I could I would go back right now!

Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Phenicia. Hotel is very clean & very well looked after. We upgraded our rooms for a small price and would highly recommend this as the old rooms are very dated. The food is very good and there is always something for everyone. We liked the pancakes that are available in the afternoon. The animation team are very good and welcoming to all guests making an effort to ensure you enjoy your stay without being too annoying. Water polo with Shaggy at the main pool at 11:00 & 15:30 is very enjoyable for everyone, they also put on great entertainment shows in the evening.
We went on a pirate boat trip sold to us by a man in a sailor hat by the pool and would not recommend this as he said there was good food and entertainment but the boat was over crowded with little to see or do and poor food.
We paid 120 Dinar (Around £50) for a private photo shoot with the on site photographer, his work is very very good and he is very professional, we would recommend this to anyone. We got around 200 photos all in digital form.

Overall a very good hotel and we would return. 10/10!!

(Mario from animation really goes out of his way to make sure your ok)

Room Tip: Upgrade your room its worth it

Once again we received a fantastic welcome from the staff who remembered us and treated us like old friends. We were given one of the refurbished rooms which was fantastic and our chambermaid kept our fridge well stocked with soft drinks and water and little extras like fresh flowers. Nice to see a kettle and a selection of beverages which was a welcome addition. Would like to see trays in the breakfast area which would make it easier to carry items back to your table but once again the food was good. A few new waiters, Wassim in the Oasis bar really looked after us as did our waiter again Samir. The animation team were as entertaining as ever, nice to see Rio back. We will be back again next June for our ninth visit, we love this place.

This was the first time me and my partner had stayed at the hotel after being recommended by a few friends.
Really simple check in, got given a drink on arrival and then had a quick tour around the hotel and then straight to our room which was very basic however it was clean and had everything we needed; 2wardrobes, fridge, comfy double bed, powerful shower and clean toilet and sink. We asked for a sea or pool view but didn't get one, also no sun on the balcony.
The pool area is excellent, water not too cold and always clean. Although the man giving out blue mattresses for the sun beds was a bit rude and awkward as we did not tip him, one morning he purposely put mattresses on empty beds next to us when we had been waiting for a good half an hour because we didn't tip him, which was one of the very few negatives aspects of our visit.
The food was standard, nothing outstanding but there was always something to eat every night. We decided to eat our lunch at the barbecue place near the beach but everyday there was just chicken nuggets, fish burgers and chips. Also the staff at lunch time would never give you a satisfactory service unless you tipped them which we never did as we thought we had paid for the hotels service within the cost of the holiday, so don't expect good service unless you are willing to tip heavily.
Drinks were also good, the que after dinner was always long but cocktails were good, very basic again but was still nice to enjoy something different to coke for example
Animation team were excellent, every review states how good they are and I agree with them, just a simple no thanks and they will leave you alone but there's always something to do; water aerobics, darts, Zumba, salsa dancing , football, water polo, archery, quad bikes etc
There is loud music played around the pool for the majority of the day so if your wanting to sit quietly and read etc then maybe this hotel isn't for you because even at the quieter pool or at the beach you can still hear the music. Also at night you can hear the entertainment from our room (5044) which was quite a distance to the place were the night time entertainment is, so for families with small children who need to go to bed early then again, maybe this hotel isn't for you
Overall a good holiday, everything you need, very basic but the staff couldn't be friendlier and a very stress free relaxing 10 nights,,would definitely recommended and considering booking again next year
