Travelled from B'ham airport 6am flight. Could not have been smoother. All on time and comfortable.
If you want a relaxing holiday and to be very well looked after this is the place to go.
Spotlessly clean communal areas, amazing choice and quality of food and fantastic waiter service.
Thanks to the animation team including Nina, Fifi, Nemo, Amira, Sara, Zico (Number One Bingo man) and Bamboucha who work very hard both in the day with activities that include french boules, archery, darts (that turned into a dancing competition followed by musical statues!), crazy golf, aerobics, pilates, walking the list goes on... Also providing us with a show every night including Michael Jackson, Abba, Irish Dancing and songs from
the Shows. How they remember all the moves, or have the energy I have no idea. Their boss, who's catchphrase is "Show Time," captures it all.
We walked right out of the back of the hotel along the beach to Yassmin Hammamet, where we came across a lovely marina with some fixed price shops and a choice of many lovely restaurants. Definately worth a visit. Walk the other way, to hammamet, and be prepared for some hassle.
Beach vendors were persitant, but not aggresive and a polite and sometimes firm "no" makes them leave you alone, so don't be put off. (Although wouldn't leave anything lying around whilst swimming in the sea etc as we had a disappearing Tshirt incident).
General impressions of the hotel - The hotel looks impressive from the entrance and well kept. The reception is large and spotlessly clean and polished. The communal toilets are immaculate at all times.
Rooms - The room was immacuate and was serviced every day to a high standard. Our balcony overlooked the side, with a partial seaview and we experienced no problems with noise when trying to sleep. We have a question over the air conditioning, as the temperature during the night meant it wasn't really needed, but when we turned it on during the day (room 3041), it didn't seem to function. Having said that, we didn't feel it a big problem and so didn't report this.
The TV in the room had BBC News in English and Tunisian NBC channel 2, which showed English language movies all day and were of good quality. Decor could have been of a higher standard, however you don't go on this kind of holiday to spend loads of time in your room! There is a mini fridge in the room to chill soft drinks and a hairdryer - so you don't need to pack this. And a good quality safe also, which we used, but didn't feel was absolutely necessary.
The bar service was second to none. The senior waiter in the pool bar (Mami I think) speaks fluent english, French, German and Arabic plus more, and is a real character when you get to know him. Highly attentive and accommodating with a great humourous personality. The rest of the bar staff were also very good. The alcohol can seem a little low on vol. which will mean you will like to experiment different beverage options! The beer is only 2.5% The spirits don't seem much more, so always ask for a double! The trick to getting drunk, we discovered was to start drinking the white wine...and continue...
Food - Amazing choice. Whatever you like will be available from fresh salad and bread, to fish, beef stew, lasagne, cottage pie, couscous and Tunisian specials, Roast meats carved in front of you, pasta cooked for you with whatever spices you want in there and of course chips and pizza is also available. Be prepared to put on a few pounds. Not that we ever had enough space for it, but there was also a massive choice of sweets and cheese and biscuits and the crepes from 2.30pm are a delicacy. From the 6th of May there was also a BBQ for lunch and within the next few weeks they will open the beach restaurant. (There is an al a carte restaurant which you can book once for free and also a Chinese 3 course restaurant - for £9 - both absolutely delicious).
We were allocated the same table for dinner every day and had the same waiter (Mrad) who was always there to greet us, never let our glasses run low on drink and was overall extremely attentive and kind. He was even sometimes there to greet us for breakfast.
We went with Thomas Cook and they have the whole package from check in to departure absolutely seemless. Lucy, our rep, was fantastic. She didn't push any excursions on us, but gave us good, solid, sound advice on the hotel and the broader aspects of holidaying in Tunisia.
The two pools were spotlessly clean and maintained excetionally well.
The bad reviews we have read are totally unfounded and unfair. No idea where these people have been on holiday before.
Last point, as the hotel was only 1/3 occupied in this off peak period, we can whole heartedly recommend this holiday to anyone. It would have been nice to have had a sea view room as they were available, but the hotel wanted to charge extra.
In summary, we spent 10 days in mid twenty degree temperatures, ate like kings, drank like fish, enjoyed the social scene and didn't want to leave. Overall, a wonderful holiday. Thank you to everyone we will definately come back.
