We absolutly loved this hotel, the rooms were simple and clean, with plently of space for the two of us, it has a lovely quiet balcony, that was totally private. The reception was very friendly and helpful and there all hours, (this was very useful as we arrived at 2am!) The pool was clean and pretty empty (that may have been because it was quite cold!) though it was quite nice as the weather was very hot.

There was 3 resturants and a couple of shops a very short stroll away, and alot more about 10-15minute walk away. We arranged several day trips - which we would recommend. The locals are very friendly (maybe a little too friendly) and quite pushy, they all want you to buy as much as possible!

The hotel and staff were lovely and we had a fabulous holiday, but its quite a distance from the airport and the main shops and resturants.

This hotel looks great in pictures, and probably this was why I had expected more from it. The service was not very good. The attitude of the reception desk staff was very much "you can do this for yourself". I found that a little off-putting.
Also, the cleaning was quite sloppy - I saw the same hairs, stains, and dead flies on the floor from day to day... The supermarket had a very limited assortment (they did not even have schampoo...), and the opening hours were also limited: it closed at 16 every day, and one day it was closed all day. The pool bar also had limited opening hours.
The pools were not heated, which was quite unpleasant at the end of October. Another disappointment was that you could not even see the sea from this hotel.
Also, when we first arrived at the hotel I was disappointed that there were no small packages of schampoo, shower cream, small perfumed soaps, a piece of chocolate on your pillow etc.. Those are small things that do not cost much, but matters very much to make you feel welcome. Worse: although you have a small kitchen in your room, there were no washing-up detergent or -brush or anything. I think that was very bad.
Also, it was difficult to get your washing clean, as there was only a very small drying-stand on the balcony, placed too low, and no hook what so ever to hang washed clothes from on a clothes-hanger.
All these things taken apart may seem small, but the irritation over them mounted as the week passed.

What could have been a lovely stay was terrible due to building work and the place being practically empty and noisy. Also there was a very bad practice of getting the all inclusive customers to sign chits every time for drinks and the lunchtime meal - these we found did not relate in any way to what we had - a glass of wine became four glasses - one meal became two and staff were even signing on our behalf in the end. Also found on giving a good tip the waiter then put another one on the table - so the practice of tipping well expecting good service did not work here.

Many of the remaining clients moved out to another hotel - which was full of life, the entertainment was superb and the all inclusive client just showed their arm band.

The hotel was clean and comfortable.

we arrived in hammamet and it was windy and quite cold, however we were greeted by the hotel staff by a nice smile, the room was spacious and quite clean it had everything you needed. It had a nice bar there but with no one in there, the swimming pool was a nice size but a bit cold to go in coz of the time of year I quess!!! the shop in the hotel had limited stock so you had to go hiking up the road!! we (me and my girl fiend) went for a walk along the beach but wasn't impressed with what we saw there was a lot of junk on the beach I asked to how much for the jet ski and he just ignored me!!! the people who lived there were trying to sell us dead plants and hash!! we got to use the pool and restaurant in the sister hotel which was across the road from us and on the beach so that was ok. we went into TOWN!!! what town it was like a ghost town with a few tunisian cabbies lurking about the place oh by the way don't ever get one of them they over charge you take you on a detour of the area and drive at 130 mph then don't drop you out side your hotel. the meal was ok in the restaurant and relitively cheap but you don't get much. the trips are good that's all you can do there book with the travel rep who comes to your hotel our one can't remember his name was a nice bloke and gave us a really good deal for all we did in the two days. like we stayed in another big hotel and rode on camels and visited some film sets like star wars and indiana jones all for about 50 quid each in our money....bargain. there is no night life there the hotel entertainment is for 70+ so all in all don't be expecting some thing out of this world you get what you pay for and there was a lot of other people who we meet on the trips who would say the same thing just make sure you go when you have nice weather so that gives you some thing else to enjoy oh and by the way you will get stomach ache when you come back for at least a week.!!!!!

All in all a good self catering holiday. We booked through Panorama Holidays and enjoyed the fact that it was all organised for us. We turned up at Stansted and from there it was a pleasant flight to Monastir where the reps were waiting for us. If you fly in to Monastir be prepared for the 3 hour airport transfer to the Hotel (they don't warn you about this). And the Aziza residence is the last hotel on the transfer drop off !
The staff at the Aziza are really great - friendly and warm. It is the custom to tip all staff and quite frankly with the wages they are getting, they deserve tips.
The apartments are spacious and clean. We had a double for two of us with a small kitchen and shower room and it was plenty big enough for us for two weeks. Lots of wardrobe space and a lovely balcony. There is a small shop on site which has all the basics, but it is 3 times the price of the supermarket and fresh fruit and veg market in town. You can jump in a taxi for 3 dinar and pick up your fresh supplies daily. We found that the trip into the town was worth it especially if you like fresh fruit and veg. The food selection here is very limited, and even the tiny supermarket in town did not sell any fruit or veg or meat. It took us 4 days to find the market which is hidden away behind a car park. There is also a butcher near to the car park where we managed to get a pretty good steak. But meat is not cheap (although still cheap for the UK) and there is not a lot of choice.

Although they do advise to cover up, it is pretty relaxed here and if you go to the hotel beaches you will feel comfortable in a bikini. However, I felt very uncomfortable walking along the beach, next to my boyfriend, in a skirt and bikini top, as most of the local women on the beach do cover up. Out of respect it is better to cover up with a t-shirt so as not to get unwanted attention.

It helps if you can speak French as this is their second language. However, most hotel staff speak several languages.

In terms of restuarants near to the Aziza, they are all pretty terrible. Marco Polo is very basic, the steak is just about edible, but don't bother with the rice or pasta unless you want overcooked peppery mush (we ate there 3 times because it is so near to the hotel). Having tried several 'recommended' restaurants we resorted to cooking ourselves. But on the last night we walked along the main road towards the town and came across a restuarant called Cannella. It has a door on the main street but the restaurant is on the first floor with a terrace. The chef is french and the owner is Italian. The meal we had there was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. We could not belive that after 13 days of pretty poor food we found a really good restaurant. I had a fried cheese starter with grilled calamari for a main. And it was divine. They also have decent Italian wine! And the chocolate deserts were truly delicious. My boyfriend who is also Italian was pretty much down on his knees thanking the fact we had finally found somewhere decent to eat. It is pretty resonable compared to london prices, but in terms of the quality of food, well worth the extra money.

The hotel has a private beach which is worth visiting and the guy that looks after the sun loungers is really great. He will save you a good spot if you tip him. In July the sea is quite warm, but as we finished our last days there, it was really hotting up. Although it was 40 degrees for our last 4 days the apartments were cool and there was a slight breeze.
I would recommend the resort to couples if you are planning to visit in July, it was pretty quiet and relaxed. As you can imagine, when the school holidays begin, the resort really begins to fill up with familys. The hotel pool got very crowded and there was a lot of sun lounger reserving at 7am.

I would recommend bringing games with you as there is very little entertainment in the resort. There is the occasional bellydancer in the hotel bar but other than that not a lot. The bar also tends to close early at around 10.30pm.

Tunisia is great for the weather (34-40 degrees, sunny, blue skies), the people are kind and friendly, the sounvenirs are cheap but the food is very basic. There is not a lot to do apart from sunbathe and walk around - so a great holiday if you want to thoroughly relax. There are various organised excursions you can go on, many are family oriented, and some are apparently quite good.
I would rate the hotel 9/10 for comfort and cleanliness. As a couple we really enjoyed the holiday but some may find the area a little boring so I would advise to bring books and games!
