* The hotel is situated along the coast from Hammamet Yasmine, near the residence of the ex-President. It is an impressive 5 storey building with an exceptional pool area. We paid a supplement of £5 a night for a sea facing room, which was kept very clean.
*The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially considering the poor wages they are paid. We took every opportunity to tip the waiters and other staff and they were extremely appreciative - a Tunisian Dinar is worth less than 40 pence to us but means a lot to them. Try the morning walks from the hotel to learn about many things from how to age a palm tree to the symmetrical patterns on the doors of houses.
*We used the trains a lot to get about - amazing value if a little tardy and infrequent. There is a station at Hammamet (4 TDN by taxi) but we often took a taxi to Bir Bou Regba (10 TDN,including tip) and we found the girl in the ticket booth there extremely helpful - having a little French helps. From there to Tunis was £3 return on a 45 minute non-stop train. We did have to stand sometimes and the trains range from newish SNCF-type to something out of Beau Geste but a great experience always. In Tunis you can walk from the main station to the TGM to get to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said for 50p !!
*There are amazing cultural experiences - the Romans (at Dougga(by coach),Carthage, El Jem -the amphitheatre was used as the template for "Gladiator"- and more),the Tunisians (the Mosques, medinas, pottery at Nabeul, and the splendid palace inside the Bardo Museum, due to open soon after three years of restoration, and reminiscent of the Alhambra) and the French (language, wonderful patisseries in Tunis and Nabeul, the railways and the cafe life in the main Tunis boulevard).
A WISH : The food was O.K. - you could always find something in the buffet - and on some nights (like when roast chicken was served) it was good. However, I would like the talented and hard-working chefs to be given better ingredients so that they could produce food of an even higher standard. In the words of StarTrek..."This is calves' liver, Jim, but not as we know it".

Room Tip: There is a supplement for sea facing rooms of £5 a night in low season and, I believe,£10 in high se...

We booked somewhere cheap at short notice and wasn't disappointed, the staff were very friendly a couple of dinar tips and you never went without a drink, the weather was awful so had to stay indoors all our stay we didn't use the indoor pool just the bar! Rooms are comfortable and we're cleaned daily.
Food is good not outstanding but had no problems with anything we ate and we booked in the restaurant for 1 night which is a set menu which was ok, but we ate at a local restaurant that the rep recommended which you got a free lift to and from the hotel this was very nice cheap and good for a change.
The centre of hammermet is not that great not that much to do but plenty of trips out offered by the reps all seemed good from what other guests said.
I would go back again to this hotel staff are really friendly just a shame about the weather as with nice weather it would have been ideal as we couldn't go by the pool.
Make sure you spend all your dinar as the queue at the airport to change them back was very long but there is a cafe in departures you can spend them as our rep said once your on the bus back you can't spend them but this was incorrect.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must

Great hotel and extremely friendly staff. We tipped to good service from happy waiters but we didn't think the tip - usually 1 Dinar - gave us any preferential treatment. Weather was not great a cloudy and a cool breeze, but when the sum came out it was quite warm and we did actually end up with a tan. Rooms modern and very clean and food is what you would expect from an all inclusive buffet. We ate in the International restaurant 3 times which offers waiter service, but a set menu. Went to the 'Cabaret' evening that the Reps and Dream Girl Drag Act - pretty amateurish, but we the wine and good company helped make it a fun evening - good to get out of the hotel as well. On the whole a good value for money holiday, but colder than we expected.

We booked a week at the Aziza on the spur of the moment to get away from the miserable british weather and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The interior was very clean and well presented, The room and bathroom were of a good size and well set up with decent furniture and plenty of wardrobe space. The only small criticisms of the room are that the shower screen was not properly sealed so that when using the shower you would end up with quite a large puddle on the bathroom floor, also, as others have pointed out, the pillows were terrible. Why can't hotels invest in decent feather pillows I can not understand.

As regards the food. There was plenty of choice for the first few days but it did start to get repetitive towards the end of our stay. Also the buffet could have been kept hotter. The waiting staff were great and always kept the drinks topped up.

The weather was to cold for us to use the outdoor pool or swim in the sea although some hardy souls did so, we made use of the indoor pool. One thing I would say about this is that it slopes away quite steeply and the floor was slippery so if you are not a confident swimmer I suggest you stay in the shalow end.

Overall this is a decent place to stay for a week but I would not stay for longer at a time.

Room Tip: Go for a pool or beach view room

Our first visit to this Hotel but it will not be the last. My wife and I spent a three week holiday here from 18 December until 8 January.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome ,hot towels were served to each new guest by a charming female of the reception staff (Olfa) ,we were the escorted to our room by the Bell Boy. The room was spacious ,plenty of wardrobe space and the view was something special, (palm trees and ocean).
At breakfast we were greeted at the entrance by the restaurant manager and shown to our table , there was a variety of food to choose from including omelets , fried eggs etc made for you by a Chef.
Lunch time was in a different restaurant buffet style again with a good choice of food and after 2.30pm (in the same restaurant) you were given a menu and waiter service for example tuna salad followed by steak and chips and wine of your choice I can strongly recommend the steak you could cut it with a plastic fork.
In the evening food was served in the same restaurant as breakfast this was buffet style again with a good choice of food unless you chose to eat in the international restaurant or Tunisian Restaurant this was waiter service you had to book this the morning before, all of the above mentioned eating places are included in the all inclusive holiday.
The Gala nights of Christmas and New Year were excellent both being with waiter service followed with live entertainment and dancing.
Our room was cleaned each morning (to a high standard) and the towels changed each day.
Most nights there was live entertainment after which there was live music.
The staff at the Hotel went out of there way to be helpful and I complement the General Manager for this as without happy and helpful staff your holiday could be spoiled .

We travelled to Tunisia for Christmas at the Aziza and couldn't have wished for a better holiday. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here, from the waiters who served us, the maid who cleaned the room, the porters and the reception staff. Everybody was extremely polite and courteous, helpful, friendly and eager to please. The food was well cooked, plentiful and hot. The hotel is very clean, rooms are large with more than enough storage and the bathroom was immaculate. We had a pool and sea view room with a balcony just above the lobby bar, but had no trouble sleeping. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We had no cause for complaint at all. Hamamet itself is not much to look at, very dirty and scruffy with rubbish everywhere but the people were friendly and with nightly entertainment - belly dancing, snake charming etc, there was no need to go into the town at night. We would recommend a few trips to see the area, the Welcome Tour is very good with a lovely guide who gives you all the history of Tunisia. One last mention for our wonderful rep, Wissam, who was charming, funny and helpful. And you could always find him, a first for us with holiday reps. All in all a great relaxing holiday at a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view

Tremendous hotel with very helpful staff that made a huge difference. The room we stayed in was overlooking the sea and this was fantastic and well worth the extra. The sounds of waves at night was just great. Saif was brilliant member of staff who took us for a special walks and played bowls on the beach front. Great fun
The music in the main hall was fully appreciated and we enjoyed this a lot. It was a very quiet time which is just what my wife and I wanted.
Thank you so much to all staff for a truely great week.

Room Tip: make sure you book a sea view room
