There is little that I can add to the many positive reviews about this hotel. We have travelled the world extensively and can honestly say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff, food and amenities are excellent. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great holiday. It was my wife's birthday during our stay and wow did they make it special, cake, candles and song, thank you Bashir and the restaurant team.

The pool team, waiters and gardeners ensured were looked after, great job.

Only gripe I have is that for some reason the management seem incapable of ensuring there is water to drink in the gym. During the first week there was water but no cups, then there was cups but no water. Gyms in this star rating hotels should have water and towels available. Come on Rhui this is easy to resolve, it is letting the side down.

We booked a car and driver to take us out for the day, this was a good decision and was great value.

I just wish the government would tidy the place up a bit, if they did more tourists would come.

This is our first visit to Tunisia, we travelled with Thompson's and had a very good flight and everything was on time, having reached the airport in Tunisia we was quite surprised how quick we got through customs as there were a few planes that landed together, we had booked a taxi to the hotel when we made our booking and was glad we did as we was talking to some people in the hotel and they said they was sat on the bus nearly a hour waiting for other people to come, it was well worth the £40 return. Having reached the hotel we was greeted with a cold drink and very pleasant staff who told us all about the hotel, the check in was very efficiant and quick, we was shown to our room by Mohammed who was very good ant told us about the safe etc, we had booked a sea view room but was slightly dissapointed with the outlook, but dont get me wrong we did have a fantastic view of the sea but also of a building site which did spoil it a bit. we asked if we could have a pool/seaview room but was told that it would cost another 40Dinar a night, which is another £16 per night ontop of what we had paid extra for the seaview,we Declined and stayed were we were. The rooms are fantastic very large and brightyou have a walk in dressing room with wardrobes either side also a fridge, safe and tea and coffee, the Bathroom is lovely with walk in shower, bath with hand held shower seperate toilet and vanity sink. In the bedroom there is the biggest bed you have ever seen with comfortable mattress, there is a seating area with settee and cofee table and chair, also flat screen tv, the chamber maid Asma did a fantastic job of keeping our room spotless, she was lovely always said hello and was always happy, she did fantastic towel decorations and flowers in the room. The food was very good always plenty of choice from soups to salads and always a variety of different meats and fish, we found the staff in the restuarant to be very good and were always there to take your drink orders, we did find in the restuarant birds flying around which was a little off putting, but they get in through the open doors so i think that needs looking into. We did try the Speciallity restuarant but wasn,t to fussed with it, i wouldn't recommend it, but that is just my opinion.they have a beautiful Lobby bar with plenty of seating but bearing in mind we was here 28th April to 5th May so hotel wasn't full so could be a diffrent story peak season, i do have to comment on the drink waiters in there, we was sat 20mins before anyone came to take our order, we did complain to the head waiter and he resolved the problem quickly, we didn't have to wait again, i could understand if they were busy but like i said the hotel was no way full. The pool and gardens are immaculate and they have a guy who cleans the pool and brings you towels and mattress's to your sunbeds, he was lovely and worked very hard and had his eye on everything, the drink waiters round the pool and beach were fantastic and you never had to wait for a drink they was there all the time i specially want to mention Hamid he was the best ever, the beach is kept spotless, we had a walk along the beach of other hotels and was so glad we was staying at the Oceana, although it was April not everything was open so it did make things look different along the beach, it was very messy in some areas, beaware of the guys with horses and camels on the beach, i was taking a picture of the horse, next thing he had the camera off me i was sat on the horse and he took me for a ride, LOL, must admit i did enjoy it, although my husband wasn;t as he tried to charged us 40 dinar my husband gave him 20 and said he had still been ripped off by him. The entertaiment is very low key which we had read before we went but i didn't think it would be so low key, we had a singer a belly dancer and a guy on the organ ,there was a karoke one night, however we did meet some lovely people Jackie and Frank who we had drinks with, thanks for making our nights good. All in all we had a brilliant time at the Oceana, and i would recommend it if you just want a chilling quiet holiday.

Room Tip: if you book a sieview also state you want a poolview as well, top floor as good outlooks.

We visited here in April for our Honeymoon. We stayed for 10 nights and had a junior suite and it was simply amazing. The room was stunning with a huge comfortable bed, lovely decor and a balcony with a sea view. We were all inclusive and the safe in the room was included with this which I thought was excellent. Also, the mini bar was free and stocked up daily with bottled water (still and sparkling), fanta/lemonade,cola and 2 bottles of beer. A complimentary fruit basket and bottle of red wine were also in our room. The hotel is a gorgeous place with lots of interesting artwork and beautifully decorated rooms. The staff were so attentive and treated us like we were royalty (no special treatment as they didn't know we were on honeymoon) - everyone was treated like that. There was a good selection of drinks and the cocktails were lovely, Riu Palace being my favourite. A bowl of nuts or cheese twists were often brought with the drinks which added a nice touch.

The Oceana restaurant was where we ate our meals and the food was fabulous, there was so much choice and variation. If you weren't too adventurous you could have fies (which were awesome) or lasagne, mousakka, filet steak etc or you could try the Tunisian cuisine, lots of lamb, octopus, rice dishes. I have got to mention the prawn bisque as this was exquisite!! Just a MUST have!

We also went to the al a carte restaurant 'El Pache' where the food was Tunisian and again, wonderful, I had the brik to start, the lamb and cous cous and the mixed dessert of baklava. I can't say anything more about this meal - it was simply delicious.

I could sit here all night listing everything I loved about this hotel but if it's an adult only, luxury break you're after - this is the place! The gardens are stunning and lead straight on to the beach so you really don't have to leave the hotel!

just arrived back from a weeks break from 24th April -1st May. arrival at the hotel and check in was smooth and efficient. We had a room on the top floor over looking the front of the hotel which was fine. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with good facilities. The pool area is quite and relaxing which would not suit everyone but we found it really nice not to have to put up with a stream of noisy activities. Food was very good with an excellent choice however it was lacking in a good choice of fruit at breakfast. The choice of wine was very good and I would recommend you try the Tunisian red wines. One little thing to note they provide an early breakfast at the hotel on the day of departure (just ask at the reception for opening times) if on the early flights which Thomsons did not make us aware of

I would advise the all inclusive option as the drinks rather expensive.

All the staff are fantastic they make you feel special and work very hard to ensure you have a good holiday.

If I return it would be later in the season when the weather is better April can be unpredictable as we found out

we did not use the spa so I could not comment on this facility.

My husband and I have just returned from spending 11 nights at this resort. It was our 4th trip to Tunisia and our 3rd visit to a Riu resort, so we knew what standards to expect.(17th-28th April)
Sadly as a previous reviewer has already stated a "Tunisian 5 star" but definately not in our opinion.
We were unfortunately delayed at the airport due to an unofficial strike by baggage handlers which we have since learnt isnt the first time this year, so perphaps if you are going to Tunisia take a snack/drink with you just in case....
Once we arrived at resort, check in was fine, our room 419 on the 2nd floor had a lovely view of the bay and was always kept lovely and clean by our maid, fresh flowers every day, towels decorated with petals etc. Bed was huge, room was big and the dressing room ideal. Big bathroom with seperate shower as well as bath with a shower over.
Staff: In general most were fine, service could of been alot quicker in the main bar.
Tipping: We rarely tipped during our stay, but at the end of the holiday gave substantial tips to the people who we though deserved it.
It was a nice touch in the evenings that the Hotel Manager, and various other managers stood in a line to greet you when you went into the restaurant, Mongi the manager there was very efficient.
Food: Well not bad, plenty of salads and the deserts were always very nice, My husband particularly enjoyed the fresh strawberries. In our opinion food could be hotter. A wider choice of cheeses and biscuits would be good.
The Magon white wine was also very enjoyable.
Cleanliness: The hotel is spotless, all the public areas very well cleaned,as was the pool area and gardens, all very well kept.
As we were on the all inclusive package this entitled us to a free massage and to have our laundry done, both of which we accepted with thanks.
I made use of the on site hairdressers, my hair is quite long so a wash, blow dry and straighten was 30 dinar, about £15.alot cheaper than UK prices.
The Beach as previously stated was a bit untidy at times due to the weather but was quickly tidied up by the beach attendant etc.It was also reassuring to have a security guard on the beach to deter any beach sellers approaching the sunbeds.
As we spent what time we could on the beach (had 3 days bad weather) we saw the Hotel Manager coming down on the beach most days, just making sure things were alright. Havent seen that before on our travels....All in all it was a chilled out holiday, especially as there are no children allowed at this resort,
We met a lot of nice people during our stay, Andy,Jeanette, Pat & Ray to name but a few.
Would we go back to this resort? Would have to say no as we personally never go back to the hotel/resort twice.but for a quiet, relaxing, comfortable holiday yes no probs.

My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday at this fabulous hotel. I agree with all the good points that everybody says about the Oceana. Our view on the food is also very good, breakfast was always excellent, lunch and dinner varied for example the two choices of soup some days was powdered and vegetables and French fries frozen. When you have many chefs working in the kitchen you would expect all fresh food. The salad choice was very nice with boiled eggs laid on the table most days along with sardines ,mussels and calamari. The main course was great for meat lovers but not much fish apart from Mullet which was the full fish with all the bones. The wine choice in the restaurant was also excellent with a wide choice of expensive wines which is unusual for all inclusive. The bar was very good no small glasses for your Larger you could have a bottle, a large glass or a pint pot,the cocktails and other alcoholic drinks were of a decent size. You do not wear a wrist band for A/I just sign for all the drinks you consume. I will finish by saying this hotel is for a quiet relaxing holiday and A/I is we'll worth the extra money and you do get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a pool/ sea view room top floor if available.
