“NIce Hotel shame about the food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

We had read the reviews but always like to make our own minds up. The hotel is beautiful, reception, pool etc very clean. Some of the staff are very helpful, We id have a few issues on day one which were sorted out straight away. The food however was always cold and after several complaints from not just us we decided to eat out. The difference was unbelievable.
I hope after the main holidays are over that the management will get the food right because this could be a really nice place that is value for money.
I would like to add that the pool bar is great and the service was brilliant, waiter around the pool always looked after us and there were always sunbeds free. Some of the other staff were only interested in looking at the girls and not doing their jobs.

We arrived back from this hotel a week ago, first impression very nice! Lovely reception and quick check in, our room was real nice :) I had read some reviews on here so had an idea about the food so next morning as the next 7 days we was up having breakfast at 7 having breakfast, not that we wanted to be up that early but if u didn't go at the time it was a struggle to find plates etc.

Food :- breakfast time we stuck with omelette (freshly cook) or toast, we usually like to try all the different salads etc while we are away but after once we was both ill so we never had any more. I tried some cereal don't bother there is no taste what so ever! Even the chocolate one didn't turn the milk chocolatey!

Lunch :- we usually went to snack bar near the beach for fresh cooked pizza that was nice.

Dinner :- oh my lol usually cold but to be honest u could find something we had so much bread just to fill us up

It's such a shame as this hotel could really be a 4/5* the hotel it's such a nice building, I hoping the managers etc soon put the neg into positives.

Outside there's no not her was of saying it it stinks! The drains are awful, the poor horses look terrible, it is a nice walk down to the marina tho.

Fantastic weather, met some nice people.

Would we go again? No we preferred the hotel next door it's a smaller hotel and a little older but we enjoyed it more there.

Myself & my boyfriend have just returned home today 30/10/2013 from the hotel from hell everything that this hotel claims to have is completely untrue day time activities are volleyball if your lucky there is no gym as stated & the so called whirlpool didn't even have any water in it we went down the beach to find the life guards ogle & chat at the woman & not watch the water if anyone got into trouble they would probable end up drowning first . The food is virtually inedible & cold there is no way to get a drink without trying to catch the attension of a waiter & when you do you have to sign for it & don't get your drink. The entertainment is a joke we ended up going to the hotel next door & buying our drinks . One night we decided to catch a cab for some night life & got taken to a ghost town with no nightlife whats so ever the cab driver said I wait here for you & take you to kaeoke what he failed to mention was he had the meter running & we ended up paying 49 mtn . On the day of check out they expect you to pay for the orange juice from your stay 5 star hotel no way more like 3 at a push & all inclusive what a joke .

First of all , if you're ARAB , don't even think to come to this hotel

i was there from 18 to 20 , i'm arab so since the begining i wasn't welcome :/

the second day , i was in the restaurant , they offered me some juice , after that i drinked the juice

a guy come and told me that i should pay for it !!! why do you offer me something and let me

drink a part of it then you come to tell me that i must pay for it !!!!! beleive me i know the

difference from asking/ordering and offering !

i spoke with the hotel master he told me that i must pay , the manager CHRISTOPHE is a good

guy but he didn't helped , the reception is too , but after that when i found the christophe and

the hotel master together , they told that it's their problem and i won't pay for it !! OK ! GOOD!!!!

BUT !! when i was living , i went to pay the bills and i found that i must pay for the JUICE! !!

it's not a money problem , it's just that i don't like peoples who don't respect! !! !!!

My partner, son and I stayed here all inclusive for 10 days. The hotel does have quite a few plus points, but the negatives spoilt it for us. POSITIVES.....Only 30 minutes transfer from Enfidha airport. Large airy reception area with tables and relaxing chairs. Piano bar (no-one playing the piano), show bar with 2 pool tables and plenty of tables and chairs (cheesy in-house and occasional professional entertainment), Moroccan cafe (hubbly bubbly and low comfy cushioned seats). The rooms are large and clean with safe, balcony, fridge, flat screen TV, comfy beds, toiletries, clean towels every day. Friendly efficient cleaner (thank you, Imen). In fact the cleanliness of the rooms impressed us, especially when my son was sick and they sent someone straight away to remove the mattress and sheets and mop the floor. Large outdoor pool which was too cold for my partner, but my son and I gritted our teeth and conquered it. Plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds but they were a tad uncomfortable. Reception supplied towels for a 20 dinar refundable deposit. If they give you tatty striped ones just ask for the large blue ones. Nice outdoor seating area overlooking the pool. Pool waiters available to take your drinks orders. One in particular called Flares was lovely. He made sure we were topped up regularly, always with a smile and a hello. Smaller indoor pool which was lovely and warm. There was also a spar and my partner booked and paid for 6 body massages. The first 3 were good but 4 and 5 gradually got worse, so he didn't bother with the last one. There's a snack bar hidden behind the strange ship-like structure which rises up at the back of the hotel. They serve ok pizzas at lunch time, and sometimes chips. You can always ask for chips there, but you're more likely to get them if you tip!!! Small sandy beach area with beach bar and plenty of sunbeds. Archery, volleyball, aqua gym, water polo available. Zumba instructors arrived on our last day and performed on a mobile stage. Not sure if that's a regular thing though. Quiet, relaxing hotel, at least in October. NEGATIVES.....Some surly, huffy reception and restaurant staff. They don't like it if you insist on something. Tough!!! Stick to your guns if you think you're right. Last day at breakfast I asked for an omelette with eveything (tomato, onion, cheese, fresh herbs). Chef only had cheese and herbs so I asked him to refill the other dishes. He huffed and puffed and came back with some huge quartered tomatoes and onions which needed chopping. So he started to try to use a fork! I asked him why he didn't get a knife. More huffing and puffing, he disappeared into the kitchen and came back with a knife! Talk about unruly teenage behaviour.....Outdoor pool needs a resurface. It's not tiled, just painted, and the paint is peeling. I made sure I only stood on the pool floor when I was going in. After that I kept myself afloat. There are no handrails throughout the hotel and lots of steps. The tiles can be slippery when wet. After I nearly skidded out of the restaurant on day one I went bare foot. The food was not impressive. Some of the evening meal delights on offer on day one were bony chicken floating in a luke warm casserole concoction, stuffed peppers floating in something greasy and very strong smelling fish. Day two my partner had plastic in his rice and a pubic-like hair in his ice-cream. We watched the chef cooking turkey on a griddle using the same tongs for the raw and cooked meat. After that we only ate breakfast in the restaurant. We liked the freshly squeezed orange juice (2.5 dinars) and freshly made omelettes. We ate pizza and chips for lunch in the pool snack bar, and ate out in the evenings. The waiters struggled to clear the tables, and there were always holidaymakers walking around trying to find things like serviettes, cutlery, or a waiter to order their drinks. There were birds everywhere outside early morning and as the sun was setting, and they flew up in the restaurant lights. They were also pecking at the cakes and pastries in the pool snack bar and in the seating area where there were crepes, snacks and ice-cream served around 5pm. Loads of flies everywhere too. Not the hotel's fault, I know, but there was no attempt to keep food covered. Tunisian food standards and taste are not a patch on the UK. We struggled to really enjoy a meal in-house or outside. Yasmine Hammamet, although purpose built for tourists, lacks shops and atmosphere. There are horse drawn carriages everywhere, but the poor animals look undernourished and tired. The smell of sewage catches you unexpectedly, then you learn to hold your breath. We taxied twice into old Hammamet medina and did some haggling and chatted to the locals. That was enjoyable. Had a nice tuna sarnie and chips in the pizzeria next door to the bank. We would definitely revisit Tunisia, just not this hotel or Hammamet.

Room Tip: 1205 was 2nd floor quite central and overlooking pool with sea view. 1208 was overlooking hotel entr...

I'm astonished to read some of the negative comments regarding food etc as during our recent stay we were impressed with the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is excellent with a wide range to suit all tastes - except the pizza and chips brigade but who goes to Tunisia for junk food? - the pool is very big and clean with plenty of loungers, all-inclusive really is just that with no restrictions. The staff are friendly and polite and although there was a problem with some noisy drunk Russians who got into a fight, the staff did what they could and were in no way responsible.

My wife is researching Tunisian recipes as we were so pleased with the food and the [head] chef, who made frequent appearances in the self-service dining room, obviously has a good deal of pride in his work and keeps his staff on their toes at all times, as do the service supervisors. What more do people want? What we did see however was a lot of gluttony and wasted food by diners who piled their plates so high and so often they couldn't eat anywhere near all they took; this says a lot about some tourists. We saw no evidence of the flies on food that others complained about, in fact we were more bothered by flies in our own back garden this summer! What's wrong with these people?

We met several others staying in other hotels in the same resort and their descriptions of the food and other facilities at their hotels, costing around the same, convinced us that our choice of hotel had definitely been the right one.

The hotel also has the advantage of being right on the beach, a benefit not present with the majority of hotels in Jasmine Hammamet, even some of the top-notch expensive ones, where guests had to cross main roads or walk several hundred yards to get to the beach.

All in all a very positive experience for us; we seldom go back to the same resort as we like to see different places, but if we go back to Tunisia we'll go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Take a room with balcony and sea view, it's worth the extra.
