“It would be unfair to rate "poor" due to excellent cleanliness of the hotel”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

We travelled to the Vincci Nozha Beach Resort with an open mind after reading some good some bad reviews on here. We were welcomed on arrival by two very friendly staff that took our bags and gave us a bottle of water.

We got into our room which admittedly was really clean and modern with only a few flaws... one been the view and two been the shower head (which was fixed the next day)

We had read reviews which stated that you had to get up at 6am to reserve sun beds, so on our first morning I set my alarm to ensure we got sun beds. On the first day at 6am there was no sun beds around the pool so we went onto the beach... its true when people have said that people are up at 4am waiting for the sun beds... mainly the French.

Atmosphere - The hotel we felt is aimed purely at the French guests, with French speaking staff, French entertainment and French food.... I don't want to give the impression that I'm a Blackpool loving traveller I'm quite the opposite. I hate going on holiday and seeing "the Queen Vic" or "full English breakfast"

Greet and meet - The staff, the minorities are polite and entertaining the majority is rude and inappropriate. A few situations such as asking for ice, omelets, and tables are ridiculous. One occasion we were told we couldn’t sit down in that seat as a guest described by the waiter as “big French man” will come shout at us and it will be our fault… to which my obvious reply was so what, there are no drinks here and I’ve paid the same amount I will sit here and let him come tell me to move.

Restaurant -After this we learnt about underhand Table reservations, (if you cant beat them join them) we learned that if you wasn’t down in the restaurant by 12:30 for dinner and 6:30 for tea you would get poor seats near the turnover points and flys… also a tip we learned is if you ask a waiter at the start of your holiday to keep you a table each day and you will treat him he will make sure you get a table with wine on it to reserve it. (Contradictory to my earlier statement but honestly a requirement)

Food & drinks- Food is terrible, on one occasion we saw the chef use the same utensil for raw and cooked chicken. The food is repeated everyday, and sadly tasted bland which is unusual for Moroccan/Tunisian food… The food is ridiculous for a kids world hotel… plain pasta, smash, and plain slab of burger meat.

Alcohol, there is good a selection of rose, white and red warm wine available. Beer tastes like carling and is refreshingly cool on draft. Local Spirits are available. Alcoholic Juice Cocktails are available too, nice and refreshing but can be sickly.
Non-Alcoholic drinks are standard really but no fresh juice, all from cordial.

Sunbeds and sunshine- my girlfriend asked a member of staff if they had any spare sunbeds (one day we woke up late at 8:00am) to which they replied an abrupt NO too late…. Annoyingly five minuets later a French family asked for 3 sunbeds and the pool attendant went into the back and retrieved 3 sunbeds!!

The positives:

The Thomas cook reps are amazing… feel sorry for the hotel rep Lucy who was attacked at every angle with complaints yet always maintained a smile and was very friendly, a great asset to Thomas cook.

The climate is amazing, can’t fault it. The beach is well maintained and we spent most of our weeks stay on here. The hotel grounds and facilities are extremely clean and modern without fault.

A trip I would recommend – quad biking with the hotel trip rep who sits near the pool… amazing adventure lasting approx. 2 hours for around only 36 dinar each quad.

Concluding:

Lastly on the last day of the holiday and since arriving back into the UK we have had upset stomachs that have lasted 3 days, and wouldn’t travel back to Tunisia as the country is too much of a typical “European package holiday”

If you have booked - Overall you will enjoy your time here if you look at the positives of spending a week in the sun with good company.

If you haven’t booked- look for a different country or be careful when choosing hotels in Tunisia as we heard bad reviews about the other hotels in hammamet.

TIPS & INFORMATION we would have found useful…

- Take beach towels, they are available at the hotel but at a deposit of 20dinar.

- Make sure you only change small amounts of money at the hotels as you cant spend any remaining currency at duty free as you cant take currency past security at the airport on the way home.
- Tip the waiter on the first day/night to ensure you get a clean table.
- Cant beat them join them with the sunbed reservations.
- If your air-conditioning is poor, its probably broken go ask your rep to fix it.
- Go with an open mind to and think past the many negatives.
- On the airplane on the way into the Tunisia fill out both sections of the form, keep the one you receive back in order to exit the country.
- Take mosquito repellent.
- Be persistent with courtesy rooms for late departures, at first they will say not available but in that case get the rep or ask for a manager.
- Don’t book Vincci Nozha hotel..
- Thomas cook have been excellent and would recommend traveling with them so would maybe suggest an alternative destination with them.

Please do not read my review and think he just “likes to complain”, this isn’t the case. I understand why some people have written good reviews.. If they enjoy queuing for 10-20 mins for a drink or waking up at 6am everyday for sunbeds and the presence of rude staff this is a great holiday for them. Like I said we went with an open mind after reading the reviews and found that there is an equal sense of truth with both negative and positive. My honest advice for someone searching for a hotel, do not take the gamble with the food, beds and staff at this hotel, please find an alternative.

If you have booked I understand that you will want to not believe this review and put it aside… change your hotel if you still have chance… that said I hope you have a nice holiday and take on board my advice.

Room Tip: make sure to request sea view, otherwise you will be looking out at roofs and the recycling point.

In short I would not recommend this hotel or country! We arrived late at night at which we where greeted by the local bus boys trying to 'help' us with our bags wether we liked it or not, this did not go down well with us. The transfer guide was lovely and talking to us about the country and the hotel looked good just as we had expected on arrival. We checked in and although we appreciated it was late where told nothing about the hotel, food service etc... and had to wait to be shown to our room. Room was clean, but ground floor (which we got over after a good nights sleep), balcony was dirty though and only one chair, there was no mini fridge which we found odd and unhelpful even if we where all inclusive.
For all inclusive the bar had very limited choice, espically when they run out of rum every night! we found the bar men very friendly and chatty as well as the animation staff we can not say a bad word about. Although the animation staff are very determined to get you dong things but that is there job. The rest of the staff were less than desirable to say the least, the waiting staff were slow although we did apreicate they have alot to do but a tip would be turn up when the resturant opens otherwise I doubt you would get a laid table and me and my friend where pretty sure they didn't like the english. The food wasn't great choice, lots of chicken and rice but what we had was good just very samey! On our last night we ended up at the sports bar across the street and that food was very good.
I cannot say a good word about the reception staff, they where pretty useless in very way. Don't even bother with the woman as we were pretty sure the only english she knew was 'whats your room number' and 'one moment'. The hotel lobby didn't have good air conditioning but it was cooler than outside.
Although the staff were not the best we didn't let this ruin our holiday, we had some good excurisons with thomas cook, although we got fed up with tunisian people trying to get us to buy there stuff very second you where out. Tunisia has some beautiful landscapes, although the towns don't really do them justice. The hotel beach and pool was lovely although got very crowded half way through the week. We did feel that they needed some more adult entertainment in the evenings because we didn't get why the little kids where up after 10pm. the town hammeramet is I would say better than yasmine hammeramet as it seems less fake and learn some french if you go, as this will help a great deal. Overall the country was an experience and we and my friend did enjoy ourslefs but I can't say I would recommend it or ho back again.

This hotel was an excelent choice, we can`t say anything bad about it, it had everything you wanted, the food was good the people were great & very friendly. The reception was always on hand if you needed them. We went with Thomas cook & we can`t fault the rep that took us from the airport & helped us on our way back, he was brill at his job others should take a leaf out of his book. His name was Anthony Young, i have tried to give him a good report on there web page alas cannot so i hope they see this review.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room with a sea view this also has pool view. do not miss out on the pirate ship...

Our flight was delayed by an hour and a half going over and an hour and a half coming home, so not a good way to start nor end the holiday. Tunisian workers are honestly the most laziest bunch of people I have ever come across! Takes them forever to do anything! The hotel itself is modern, clean and situated in a nice location. To keep it simple i'll break it down into pros and cons.

Pros:
- Lovely fine golden sand
- Beautiful surrounding scenery
- Very clean
- Generally welcoming staff, some were rude particularly towards women
- Fab weather
- Sea water itself was quite clear, could see little fish at the bottom, but would also be polluted with plastic bottles etc, thankfully no jellyfish were to be seen
- Ice cream was available to go up and get as much as you wanted
- Snacks such as sandwhiches could always be found by the pool

Cons:
- Very repetitive bland food
- No fresh juices to be found anywhere, only sugary concentrated juices
- Terrible evening entertainment. No professionals, only amination team coming up with things on the top of their heads. Kids disco @ 8. Show @ 10. and inbetween?? Old fashioned and out dated slow music aimed at more elderly people.
- Very few activities for teenagers, quite boring.
- Have to wake up early to book chairs at the beach and pool. Recently they introduced a new system at the pool whereby the chairs are actually chained and locked until 7 so people cannot book them earlier. But at 7 there would be stampeedes of people, didn't see the point in it at all
- Hotel claims to have Wifi but only in reception, since hotel is in a small town internet connection was very slow and only worked every second day
- No mini fridge in hotel rooms, came at an extra cost
- Plates and cutlery would always be dirty and greasy
- Not many shops outside hotel grounds, nearest big town costs about €12 to get a taxi out
- Alcoholic drinks watered down, no foreign brands like guiness/baileys/mailbu. All cocktails tasted the same which was dissapointing
- Pancakes and omletes in the morning took forever to cook and queues would be massive

Overall our holiday was enjoyable and worth the money, but would I return? No.

Room Tip: Rooms are all generally the same from what I heard

just back from our first time in Tunisia, we choose the vincci nozha on the travel agents recommendation, we read reviews and as always there were good and bad. i will be entirely honest with my review as i myself do find reviews helpful when choosing a new hotel. so i will start at the beginning.....there were 13 of us adults and children ranging from 3yrs-56yrs.

arriving in Tunisia was hassle free which was lovely, the airport is very nice, first tip buy a bottle of water at the cafe before you collect your bags as there is not another opportunity before you get on the coach, they tell you that the transfer is 35 mins, its not,we were on the coach for a good 1hr 20 mins, i suppose this would depend on how many drop offs you have.
on the journey to your hotel take note of the local surroundings because yes that is Tunisia and believe me it doesn't get any better the nearer you get to the resort, very derelict the odd shop or run down restaurant.

we arrived at the hotel around 8.20pm the receptionist told us to go and eat as the restaurant would be closing at 9pm, tbh we just wanted to get to our rooms but even when we told him this he was insistent that we do so, after about an hour our rooms were ready. the porter escorted us to our room, we gave him £1 tip which he was very happy with.

our room was very nice no faults tbh, beds very spacious and comfy, nice bathroom with separate toilet, good powerful shower, good air conditioning, TIP 2 if you fold the cardboard wallet that ur room key came in up and put it into the air con slot, the air con will remain on when ur out, which we found a god send as the room was nice and cool when you returned all hot and sweaty. the maid service is excellent and she was very friendly and helpful, we left her all our leftover currency as a tip which was about £20 probably more than she earns in a week, but she was well worth it.

sunbeds......omg now i know sunbeds are always an issue but here really did take the gold, we learnt after the first day that if you weren't up by 5am and that was leaving it late you had no chance, me and my dad are early risers anyway but ended up setting the alarm for 4am, now i know you will think never but honest if you cant beat them you have no choice but to join them, sam the pool man who is lovely, will sometimes find you the odd one if you haven't managed to get a spot, but if you want a spot by the pool so you can keep an eye on the kids then sorry but take an alarm clock, you can always go back to bed for a couple of hours.although be aware the German, Russians and french will blatantly remove and throw ur towels away, we witnessed this happen and saw many a rows lol.

As i have mentioned our foreign companions i may as well let you know that this hotel is mainly populated by Russians, German and french and English guests are deffinatley the minority, i will be honest all 3 nationalities were extremely rude and at times intimidating, the Russians are the worst and hotel staff actually told us that they hate the Russians themselves, on a number of occasions different members of our party had very unfriendly encounters with them.

the hotel its self is nice very big occupying a few thousand guests, it is clean and tidy and the furnishings are all nice, the pool is nice and a good size with a separate baby pool. there is also a separate pool with the slides in which the kids loved.

the restaurant is very big but very busy no matter what time you go and always full of flies, with most things being uncovered , there is always plenty of food, the food was mainly aimed at the non British nationality, beef stew, chicken and fish everyday is what you can expect, there is also a wide range of salads, pasta and pizza. a massive range of puddings. lunch and dinner are the same with pretty much the same choice.breakfast is again very much aimed at the non English guests, we tended to stick to toast, pancakes which are cooked fresh for you or omlette which again is cooked fresh for you, often under cooked tho so ensure you tell him to flip again and again please.overall food ok but very repetitive. be prepared to queue !!!

the snack bar by the pool which is where you will get your "all inclusive snacks" throughout the day is again bust(queues) everyday is the same small rolls made up with leftover salami or cheese and chips that are swimming in grease, yes that s it day in day out !!!!

there are no all inclusive ice creams at this hotel either even tho both the travel agent and brochure said there were, when we asked about this we were told that they finished last year as it was an outside company ran it, if you want ice cream wait till the restaurant opens madam. lol

bar service....well where do i start well you see me mentioning queues quite often, well you will be doing most of that at the bar, ridiculous is all i can say, usually 1 maybe 2 barman if your lucky serving from a bar that is smaller than the one you'd see at your local, serving beer from 1 pump that note only gets served in half pint glasses, once the glass has ran out you will be served in a blue plastic kids beaker, constantly running out of drinks, being told to come back in half an hour, if your at the pool bar you can get coke but not diet coke, if your at the beach bar you can have red wine but not white, if your at the main bar you can have 7 glasses of wine which is more than a bottle but they will refuse to serve you a bottle, honestly it is ridiculous, again we were told by staff that this is all new this year, since the management is new.good luck is all i can say !!!!!

entertainment.... the animation team are great very friendly especially naama and amine, they get you up dancing and playing games during the day, can become a little pushy and actually a bit shirty when you say no but overall there a good bunch. evening entertainment is awful, often a show which by the time you've heard the introduction in 6 different languages your bored, the 2 okish nights were the beach party and the guest show where they involve the guests.

everything is finished by midnight including the bar and the lights, so if your sat round enjoying yourselves then expect an abrupt end because all the lights go off at mid night the bar closes and you cant continue to purchase drinks !!!!

kids club which is ran by lovely English girls smelly Kelly and crazy kat, our kids loved it there and they joined in most days, the party's are great, you have to book and pay extra for them £5-7 pounds but they are worth it, note if you think your child would be interested in the chocolate party pack a set of old clothes that you can throw away after.

the beach is lush and very safe but also very very hot. during our stay the temp never dropped below 36. a good range of water sports on offer banana boat 15 dina which is about £7, paragliding 30 dina which is about £15.

the hotel photographer is brilliant we ended up buying loads of pics from him, they work out about £3 each.

the resort itself was very disappointing, we like to go out at night walk down the promenade or town have a nose in the shops bars and maybe visit a restaurant, unfortunately this resort is very run down with just a few shops (4) to the right of the hotel, the shop keepers are very pushy and quite intimidating, there are 2 restaurants just across the road, panorama the one with the flags was a godsend, as after a week of eating literally the same thing every night a big fillet steak was like winning the lottery lol.

the pirate ship trip is a must, buy this trip from the guy with the tash who walks around the hotel not your rep, we paid 40 dina bout £20 each and all our kids went free, he will tell you it takes ten mins by coach, but again its about 35-40 mins so take a drink, the trip itself is ace good food and plenty of soft drinks on offer throughout the trip, you stop and swim/dive off the boat which was ace and if your lucky like us you will see the dolphins.

my daughter had an ear infection during the 2nd week the Dr was very efficient and English speaking, the pharmacy was a short journey away cost less that £2 in a taxi.

unfortunately none of us would return to this hotel, neither would i recommend to a friend.

We are a family of 4 just back from this hotel. The hotel is very European. Our room was very nice and clean. We found the hotel and pool areas to be very clean. Animation staff work really hard and try to get you to join in but are not pushy. The kids club was quiet and more aimed towards younger children but this might change during the school holidays. The weather was fantastic, very warm. The food is not suited to every body but i have a fussy eater and she did not starve. Food and drinks are available from around 6.30am - midnight. drinks are served in small glasses or cups but you can get as many as you want so it is not a problem. The staff were very good and helpful if you want something ask they will try to help you. Good shops outside the hotel and a cashline outside the gate. in the shops you need to haggle. The sunbeds are an absolute NIGHTMARE there is not enough to cater for all the guests and with European Guest reserving sunbeds at all pools and the beach you can find you have absolutely no-where to sit. The hotel staff hose the ground and sunbeds at 3am (ish) best advice if you want to make sure you have a seat is to go down with a towel and reserve your sunbed any time after 3am. I made a complaint about this to the Thomas Cook rep. who was no help at all on the subject.so if you can't beat them join them. Try to get the same member of dining staff and tip them tell the this table tommorow they should hopefully have your table ready each night. Overall we will go back but the first days or two were a culture shock.
