You need to pay for each part of the experience, and produce the ticket when requested. Try to get to see the crocodiles about 5pm for feeding, but be prepared for the smell! Djerban menzels are interesting with descriptions in English, and cover all aspects of day to day life. The museum is full of lovely historical pieces, though not all Djerban, and is quite small.

This is obviously quite a new tourist attraction, and not at all what we were expecting. The museum was beutifully laid out with lots of lovely artifacts behind glass cases. This could have been made more interesting had the descriptions been transilated into English. We went to watch the crocodials being fed at 5.pm,was pleasantly surprised to see them in a very well laid out habitat. They slid out of the water in there droves, some as large as 18ft long. The sound of there jaws when they were eating was quite amazing, at first i thought it was fireworks being let off, it was so loud. Then one of the keepers got into the compound with them and started to poke them with his shovel and boy can they move. It made for great entertainment although rather foolhardy,i hope he got danger money for doing this. The cafe on sight was fine for a cooling drink after all the excitement. Also there are a couple of well laid out shops.

We had a lovely walk around the Djerba Explore tourist attraction near Midoun. There is a small shopping and coffee shop area which includes a Benetton amongst others, an old Tunisian Street with a camel drawing water up from a well, a brand new museum with some excellent exhibits although nothing written in English and of course the stars of the show, 400 nile crocodiles. The crocodiles get fed at 5pm everyday in the summer and less often in the winter. Feeding time is a sight to behold as a guy chucks chunks of chickens to all the crocs. If you visit make sure you aim for feeding time as it is worth a look. I have never seen so many crocs together, a sight i will not forget nor indeed the crunching noise as they chomp through the chickens. They have all sizes of crocodiles from eggs to huge monsters. Well worth an afternoon out and a change from your hotel. Only 15 dinars each to get in which we thought was good value for all 3 exhibtion areas. You buy the tickets inside the museum in it's huge reception area.

Good all round trip to see the main sights of Djerba. Along with the mandatory trip to the local pottery it also took in amongst other things a very good museum with English translations which showed how they used to live though not really enough time to spend there. Also went to Hammout Sous market but again not much time there.

I would defenitly recommend going on a feeding day & feeding time which is usually at 4pm. There were so many crocidiles, you didnt even know where to look! The power of their jaws is absolutely incrediable!! Then the men that feed the crocs actually get in with them-unreal!.
I was actually asked to feed the crocs myself, which i did and was great fun!
