“Ideal for relaxation”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Stayed for a week last summer and only just getting round to the review.
The arrival via thomsons/first choice was very organised even though several coaches arriving at once. Quick check in with a nice drink welcoming you at the door.
Gorgeous room with views out to the pool and sea, most rooms will have this view due to the shape of the hotel , unless your unlucky enough to get the other side of the corridor.
Pool is very big and plenty of sun beds.
Beach is absolutely gorgeous, crystal blue sea and very peaceful. You can even use the hotel catamarans, pedelos for free on the beach.

Food was delicious and varied. You get assigned your own table for the whole of your stay so no wandering around looking for an empty one, you just walk straight up-to your table in the evening... Lovely touch

No entertainment around the pool and only let down is the hotel entertainment is the typical cheesy rubbish.

Piano bar off the lobby is really nice and actually feels like a bar, unlike some hotel bars.

In whole very quiet island, we took a taxi out for the day and travelled all way round stopping when we wanted and this was cheaper than hiring a car.

Would recommend if you want a quiet holiday on a beautiful beach...

If you like fun, come here! Loved everything about the hotel. Special thanks to the beautiful, talented Rola, my sweety Aladin; Alex from the hotel shop and Kamel who was professional and made sure I was always happy!

All the staff are wonderful and work hard to give you a great RIU experience. Love to you all and I shall return same time next year!

There was some biz to go in Tunisia and I´ve decided to stay for a night on the island of Djerba prior heading for the homebase. Arrived in the afternoon by Tunisair Express ex Tunis, there are different points about transfer to the hotel. My mail was quickly and really nice responded, a room on the top floor if ever possible and the taxi should be around 10.00 Euro´s. Other sources showed me fares up to 20.00 Euro´s, so I´ve decided for R.hoppa what was a good idea in the end. 11.00 Euro´s return booked shared shuttle and received personal taxi transfer in and out, perfectly ontime managed by a nice young driver.
No time to wait during check in, done by a nice middle aged agent and the room on the top floor was ready for me. Large, spacious, a separate seating area, the bathroom with an extra toilet, everything clean and well maintained.
The beach was nice, not that much guests around.
Dinner was buffet style, large, show cooking, how I like these mini brik´s!.
Some music was played in the lobby, but nevertheless a well nights sleep for me.
Breakfast is on offer from 07.30 am, also buffet style and also with much more options than I really need in the morning, freshly made pancakes with apricot jam, that´s something for me.
A walk around the large garden with all these trees and flowers in the morning was nice and even the gardener asked if he should tell me something about the plants.
No time to wait for check out and back to the airport the same way like on arrivals pretty early to catch the flight out by Tunisair for Zurich.
Downsides?. One towel only in the room during my arrival, but fixed within minutes after a notice to the front desk. Well done.

Stayed one week in all inclusive. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. were very tasty and a big choice of dishes. The swimming pool needs a little renovation and also the parasols are old-dated and needs to be replaced. It is a good standard Riu hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view

Stayed here for 7 days. The beach was really beautiful, the pool area was well-maintained and the food (we had All-Inclusive) was really tasty and plentiful!

Unfortunately the room was, in my opinion, a bit declined. But overall we had an affordable and comfortable stay!

I visited the hotel in order to teach a workshop; it is not the sort of place I would normally visit.

If you want to have a holiday where you eat and drink as much as you like and do aerobics in the pool and join in organised activities you'll like it but it is so remote from Tunisian life I felt I was in a comfortable prison.

The pool is wonderful but swimming from the beach uncomfortable - you have to walk a long way out to sea before the sea even reaches your knees and from 5 metres out you are walking on small stones, not sand, which is very uncomfortable - wear swimming shoes.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and mine had a nice sea view. The food was generous but uninspiring.

Just returned from a week at this hotel with friends. The weather was fantastic and really made it for us. However, we were slightly disappointed with the hotel. We felt the bedrooms were very basic with no nice little touches, although they were clean despite a couple of bugs one evening. Our room overlooked a generator, which meant there was a continual humming throughout the night, so pay the extra to be on the other side of the hotel - don't go for rooms that start 41.., 51..

The restaurant food was very varied and plentiful, although I strongly dislike being told I have to choose a dinner sitting, either 6.30pm or 8.30pm with the restaurant closing in between and being told I have to sit at the same table every day. The Beach restaurant was lovely, although I think that is now closed for the winter months.

My first visit to the beach was very disappointing as it was covered with seaweed and it was only by chance that we walked down there on another occassion and the beach was completely clear and so we were able to go into the sea. The sea temperature was warmer than the hotel pool.

The pool is looking somewhat tired now with chipped tiles and even though it was the end of September we still had to get down early for the sunbeds. We did notice that some Europeans tipped the poolside attendants to 'save' their beds each day.

The animation team were friendly and made particular friends with some of the hotel guests. The activities on offer were limited but we are always happy to find our own entertainment and so played tennis, petanque in our own time and not in an organised group.

We felt that the evenings were a bit of a let down. There were not enough bars open and seating was also limited, especially if you wanted to play cards whilst having a drink or two. The barmen were very thin on the ground and therefore waiting times were exaggerated.

In our opinion this is mainly a European hotel catering mainly for Belgium and German visitors. Language was an issue, even though we did speak pigeon french and it also seemed as if this hotel catered for those in their twilight years (we are not youngsters!). We usually travel in September and have not found this is the case in other hotels.

Our representative was non-existent and we did not even get our departure notices until 9pm the evening before we were due to leave at 7.30am the following morning.

So all in all, we did have a relaxing holiday but would I go back there - no.
