Took a quick overnight in July. View from the room was nice, although chairs on the porch were dirty. Room was clean but smelled like mildew. Towels were very fluffy but had strong mildew smell. If you're going to have a hotel on the water you cannot have rooms and towels that smell like mildew. Our friends in the next room also had a similar complaint. Too bad - I would have given this place a much better review without that issue.
Staff was friendly.

We stayed there for a night in August, taking advantage of the boat tours and this quaint little tourist spot. No complaints: clean, rather large room on the harbour, friendly staff helping us checking in quickly; and they provided a cot as requested in the online booking. Very convenient location to the "strip" of shops and restaurants. Would stay here again.

We just spent two great days at Captain Thomson's resort.
The room was comfortable, the staff friendly and check in was a breeze.
We had a room on the harbour and enjoyed watching the boats dock and leave on tours.
The food at Riley's across the street was excellent. Two breakfasts and a dinner included in our package.

Would recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing couple of days away.

this is our 8th year staying at this resort ok so its not a resort more like a hotel but We wouldn't stay anywhere else. We love the view from our room the staff from front desk to maids are friendly and nice. the packages are nice if you plan on doing the boat tour and boldt castle for us but for us we've decided to opt out on doing the package as we have been to boldt castle enough times. Everything else is in walking distance and easy to get to. we go up every year for blues on the bay an have a wonderful time each year. Already looking forward to next year.

Travelled with two other couples on motorcycle trip. We had great rooms on the second floor overlooking the St Lawrence and Boltd Castle. Channel Building. Large clean rooms with balcony on the rivers edge. Very good location, we walked everywhere for entertainment and meals. Nice location for a bike tour loop along the St Lawrence and over to Lake Placcid. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Channel building overlooking the river for the view

The hotel was alright. I wouldnt call it a resort. The price for the hotel was expensive per night. Our room was ok but we had a great view of the Boldt Castle.Which was really nice. There arent many really good restaurants around. The only one was Rileys. There isnt much to do there unless you take a boat tour around the Bay. I wouldnt bring kids there. It would be boring. But definatly bring them to Lake George. The Boldt Castle is beautiful and a great place to take pictures.

Room Tip: Always get a room on the second floor or higher.Ocean view or on the Bay is always good. Nothing bet...

The draw here is the view, and the view is worth it. If you can get a room right on the main channel, that’s what I would recommend. Since the view is the draw, I would have hoped for something better than cheap, uncomfortable plastic chairs on the balcony.

The location related to the town and boat ride is excellent. Parking is included, with a private courtyard-style parking lot, also nice in a place where parking can sometimes be challenging.

The shower isn’t bad, but the bathroom needs some updating. There is a flat screen t.v., but the location of the t.v. makes it difficult to see from one of the beds; it’s also impossible to use the remote control from the other bed. The bed and pillows feel like they have some type of plastic on the under the sheets and pillowcases, so not a very comfortable way to sleep.

There is a small refrigerator, which is nice to have. The Internet is horribly slow and certain things would not load at all, like when I was trying to check the weather. While there is a coffee maker in the room, there is no free coffee in the lobby. Based on the price, I would have hoped for a little more.
