“Nice motel for the adventurous in A-Bay”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

The Otter Creek Inn is essentially a no-frills motel - you get the basics, not much more - so choose this place if you plan on traveling around and being out and about a lot. The innkeeper was solid for service in regards to arriving late the first night we were there, and also in switching rooms when the bed turned out to be uncomfortable. The proximity to the main drag is also a plus for me. The only minus was the outdated rooms, the sinks were outside the bathrooms in odd locations, and the lamps above the beds were position right in the middle where you might lay in the middle and rest your head sitting up.

We found this on trip advisor and it was very highly recommended (#2). Rooms were clean and comfy. Only a few blocks from main town and eateries. We were able to put our kayaks in right there although they have some for guest use. Debbie & Dennis, owners were very accommodating . Reasonable price for room. Highly recommend this motel.

We stayed 1 night because we wanted to experience the Uncle Sam Cruise and it was a perfect location. Everything close, don't need to move your car, just park it and walk around. We felt price was a bit high for such an "old" MOTEL type room, had that old musty smell, but it did the trick and it was only 1 night. When booking this, we had advised that we would be arriving late, but didn't realize how late we were going to be, but thank goodness we got there before 10 p.m. as they close the office and then you are s.o.l. We were greeted by the owner and he was wonderful, big smile, very friendly. No coffee machine in room, BUT they open at 7:30 a.m. and had coffee ready in the office.

Alexandria Bay is a compact town with virtually everything from the boat docks (to see Singer and Boldt Castles with Uncle Sam Cruises), to restaurants, to shops, to the post office, to churches all within easy walking distance of Otter Creek Inn. The owners are very helpful with local directions including a really good lookout spot overlooking Heart Island (Boldt Castle) and a bar serving a great breakfast (never would have guessed that one). We had no problem with reservations and had 3 adjoining rooms for our group of six. Parking was adequate. Coffee in the room would have been nice but I found an early open restaurant during my early morning walks. The Inn has been around for a while but is still clean and comfortable. Should we return to this area, we would stay there again.

Stayed 4 days and barely had to use our car. Great location - quick walk to town. Exceptionally clean and well maintained room and motel. Owners treated us like B&B guests - friendly, helpful and caring. Highly recommended in every way (visit July 2011).

We were greeted warmly and found this to be a good basic motel, clean and comfortable. Great location only a 5 minute walk to the main section of town. I do agree with an earlier reviewer that a coffee maker with standard packets of coffee should be expected. We made good use of the refrigerator. The television volume control was preset and would not go higher. This was annoying as some stations were quieter than others. With the air conditioning on it was difficult to hear at times. The early 1pm check in was a plus and allowed my wife and I to take full advantage of the afternoon.

My two sons and I have been lodging at the Otter Creek Inn for the last 3 or 4 years. We usually stay three to four nights during Pirates week. We travel with a 20' boat that we use for fishing, water skiing and touring around the islands. The boat dockage at Otter Creek is perfect and is very affordable. The rooms are clean and smell fresh. This is a no smoking - no pet - no cooking in room motel - so no worries about smoke, pet or cooking odors. The rooms are simple - beds, tv, refridgerator & a table with two chairs. The room rates are affordable for peak season. The owners Dennis & Debra are very nice people and are very accommodating. Most of the guests that stay there seem to be friendly people - usually you'll hear a good morning or a hello from a passing guest.
This could be a positive or a negative depending on what you're use to sleeping on - the bed mattresses are firm - I generally like a plush / super soft mattress. So I have to adjust for the three or four night stay.
The Otter Creek Inn is a perfect place for my two sons & I to stay on our annual fishing, wake boarding, island touring and father & sons bonding get away.
The Thousand Islands was and still is where very wealthy people have summer homes. The huge mansions that were built on islands back in the late 1800's - early 1900's are still in good condition today.
Have fun - be happy - life is short.......
