We stayed two WEEKEND nights and maintenance chose this particular weekend to drain the one and only ice machine in our building. Why the staff would pick a weekend day rather than a mid-week day when there would be few, if any, guests is very puzzling. Accommodations, in general, were adequate.

Thank you for your recent stay at Bonnie Castle, we apologize that we did not meet all of your needs during your stay. We are under some pretty exciting renovations and we are trying to accomodate all of our guests to the best of our ability. Please excuse the weekend ice machine and know that we are working for improvements. Feel free to call me and discuss any of your concerns.

I and my family attended the New Years Eve celebrations at the Bonnie Castle. The rooms were amazing, the food was outstanding and the whole experience was better than we could have imagined. The service was great and the check-in was fast and pleasant. The package we were on included a wonderful breakfast the next day. We were unsure what to expect when we booked based on a number of the reviews out there on this resort. Those that are critical must not have stayed at the same resort my family did. The rooms are clean, functional and the beds are second to none. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The food at this resort is excellent. Everything was cooked to perfection and the bacon/potato soup was perhaps the best we have ever had. I really cannot recommend this hotel enough. Its location is perhaps the best in the area and everything the resort promised, they delivered. Well Done Bonnie Castle Resort. Our family will be back!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with pets, like we were, ask for rooms 125/126 as these are located perfectly...

One of the best views of Boldt Castle on the River. We needed to come up to the Bay for the weekend and happened upon their every room is $70 special for the month of November. We were lucky enough to be given a riverview room. The furniture is dated, so what, it was clean! Also, our mattress and the high count sheets they use are so comfortable. Really nice to have a extra minibar counter and mini fridge in the room. The balconies are small (picture not wide), but adequate. The rooms around us were all full with other guest yet we didn't notice any noise. We ate dinner at the Sports Bar right at the resort, the bartenders were very nice and fun to hang with. Take a walk around the resort and marina, so much to see.

Room Tip: Choose room 347, 348, or 349 to get the best views of Boldt Castle.

I arrived to video a wedding, which went well and my wife and I at first were not impressed at the front desk. But the room was very nice. However, after we got back to our room in the morning after taking a shower I stepped on the marble part of the floor before the carpet and slipped on the marble and as my foot slid off the marble on to the carpet, my foot was cut several times. Under the carpet was a tack strip hid below the carpet with all the pins sticking up. I showed the manager and she said she was sorry and that the owners would give me a call and that was the last I heard from anyone, I sorry to say. I was thinking of taking my family back to them but not now! Very uncaring owners and they live in the same city as I do, Rochester,NY.

Room Tip: Check the carpet at the point you walk into the bathroom and it becomes a tile floor. To see if you...

First I must apologize for the confusion. This concern is severe, and I must assure you that the Owners did not know that you were informed that they would call you. They go above and beyond caring here for the guests and employees. I will be looking into this to see where we went wrong. Please know that customer service is something we take very seriously, and we are striving to re-build Bonnie Castle and all employees here are working for those goals.
Thank You

When we decided to take a few days in Alexandria Bay in August of 2013, I looked up Bonnie Castle and read some favorable reviews and a few not so favorable. I was a little concerned, but the recommendation from a friend who had recently stayed at the resort, convinced us to give it a try. We were not disappointed.
The staff at the resort were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our Jacuzzi room was clean and comfortable, and looked as if it had been recently updated. Comfortable king sized bed, cozy linens, fluffy bath towels, new air conditioning unit, and of course TV and fridge, and coffee pot, etc.
The dining room was lovely, possessing the kind of old-world elegance and charm you don't often find in the "fast food" world of today. And the view was unbeatable! We looked directly across the river at Boldt Castle as we dined. The Point Grill - also part of the resort - has a nice outdoor deck for dining right on the water! The food was very good, the prices were fair, and the servers delightful. I had one server who went way out of her way to attend to my special dietary needs - all with a congenial demeanor and a smile on her face. We did have to wait once or twice, but we were in no rush. It was vacation, we were relaxing and the non-hectic pace in the dining facilities added to that atmosphere.
The indoor pool was a tad odd - not really for swimmers, but there was a hot tub. The outdoor pool, on the other hand, was beautiful and super clean. We did have to walk a ways to get to it from our room, but that kind of thing doesn't bother us when our goal is to relax. We explored the grounds. Simply beautiful! The gazebo looked like the perfect place to get married! There are decks and walkways around the buildings that have great vantage points for viewing Boldt Castle, a light house, and the river. The bar and banquet room look like they could use some updating. Looks like they came right out of the 1970s, but the room also could probably hold a very large party.
On the whole, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely go back. The rates were comparable to others in the area, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were gracious, patient and made us feel at home. And the proximity to the downtown area is really convenient. Everything we wanted to do was in walking distance, so we never had to worry about parking in the village. We'd definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: There are rooms on the water if you want the view, but the price is of course higher. We stayed on...

We are so pleased to hear of your nice stay, and glad that you enjoyed your vacation. Our Facility has the best views of Boldt Castle in all of the Thousand Islands and our property is very unique. We are proud of the owners accomplishments so far, and we still have alot to come:

Super relaxing. I even had a room "in the back" (next to the marina) Super clean and comfortable. The restaurant is GREAT! Pricy maybe but the best view of the castle other than in the castle itself. Service and manners were down home and elegant. Then at night the bar is latterly built into the cliff. Very cool. and again the best view of the castle. I cant stay anywhere else. I didn't get in the pool because its too cold for me that far north, but that didn't stop anyone else. A great hideaway.

Room Tip: few have a view but everything is just outside and with-in walking

First the good: very friendly staff, clean room and sheets. The bay is beautiful and we saw a otter in the water?
The bad: Probably the worst thing was the loud air compressor noise on the other side of the wall. We booked in late and had to get up early, and found it very difficult to sleep as something was kicking on every 30 minutes or so. It was so loud that it woke us out of a dead sleep every time. Not sure what it was but it was a very loud mechanical sound.
The bed looked like a fold out bed. It was a king that looked like two full size fold up beds pushed together? The furniture in general was old and mismatched, and the drapes fell off when pulled back.
For the price, one would expect more.

I must apologize for your lack of sleep. We were very busy the Saturday that you were here and the only King size Bed that we had left was that of a Murphy Bed right next to the Maintenance Shop. A Murphy Bed is a Flip Down from a wall unit and very dated indeed. We are in the process of renovating rooms and be assured that this room is on the list. Hopefully you will try us again, and please feel free to contact me for further questions or comments. Thank You
