Viewed as a young child with my parents when it was in a state of ruins and have returned on many occasions with my children and now with my grandchildren. Now that Iam growing old I still feel the mystical charm and beauty of this wonderful place and can only imagine what a great love story this place holds true to its heart shaped island and historical heritage. Many great memories and heart break for the Boldt family but a great peace of history for our generation and hopefully future generations to come. Thanks to the Boldt estate and the Bridge authority for the vision to allow this beautiful place to be preserved and enjoyed in the future. You really must share in the memories. Sincerely Brent Nixon Summerstown Ontario

I have been visiting the Castle at least once every two years since 1987. Each year there is more restoration bringing the visitor something new to see each summer. The 360• view is spectacular.

The Boldt Castle is a beautiful work of art. Spread out on the island is remnants of a castle and various other buildings that were not completed, but still have such beauty and intrigue. The castle was a labour of love and there are so many intricate details to view and admire. It is a beautiful trip to the island, an incredible journey to walk and explore the island and see the majestic water and other islands surrounding it. An incredible piece of history!

Boldt Castle is one of the main attractions and a must see in Alexandria Bay , N.Y. Uncle Sam Tours will take you there and it is worth the trip especially if you take the 2 Nation Tour which will give you a tour of the St. Lawrence River and drop you off at the castle. Boldt Castle is a self guided tour. Remember to take your camera, because you will be taking home the most beautiful photos and if you get hungry there is a concession stand that has something for everyone.

Where do I begin to tell the story of how great a love can be…

Like the famous lyrics – the castle that lies in Hart Island (NY) and its story is all about love:
George Boldt, the very wealthy general manager of the old Waldorf-Astoria hotel in NYC, started building it in 1900 as a love gift to his beloved wife, but when she suddenly died in 1904 – all constructions stopped, and the place was left unattended for more than 70 years.

Fortunately, The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority bought the property in 1977 (for 1 US$) and spent millions of dollars to restore this wonderful landmark to its original condition, and even to finish what had not been completed.

It's a wonderful place, well worth seeing, and no visit to the 1000 Islands is complete without seeing the castle.
The restoration is fantastic, and although most of the items there are not originals – the castle looks very impressive and there are lots of options for taking beautiful pictures.
