We spent 4 nights in February in this beautiful paradise. We loved everything, the infinity pool facing trees and shrubs, the deck where I had some fantastic thai massages, the outside dining room for breakfast and lunch, the "formal" dining room, the step down tv space, and the very nice and cosy living room. All around there are very nice furniture, curious details, the bedroom is very roomy, the bed is large and comfortable and the shower is outside which is magical. We had marvellous cooks who prepared all our meals, such a treat not to have to cook, and the food was just great, beautifully presented and tasty, they really take very good care with their guests and catered to all our needs, I am a semi- vegetarian and my husband is a carnivore but it was no problem at all. Such friendly and smiling people, it was just great. Ten, the owner, took us to the beautiful lotus lake, it is big (7x3km) and an incredible sight, pink and more pink shimmering in the sun, a must see. He also took us to Ban Chiang and to see the local school where we received a most amazing welcome. We left with tears in our eyes and we will try to come back.

Dear Seasonedtraveller,
Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are delighted you both enjoyed your stay!

It was a pleasure to meet you and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon.

We would also like to thank you in particular on behalf of the village school for your very kind donation of a laptop to them - this was truly appreciated.

Thank you again.

My wife and I stayed here for a week of relaxation from a hectic three month tour of Europe on our way back to Australia. I can't speak highly enough of the team at Green Gecko; they cooked the most amazing meals for us - and were able to tailor them to our individual tastes - not easy as I'm a vegetarian, like it hot and spicy but my other half prefers more gentle flavours. When not enjoying the fabulous food, we relaxed by the pool, took short walks, and just enjoyed the ambience of this lovely villa and the peaceful surroundings. The fridge was stocked with plenty of bottled water and soft drinks and the team provided enough basic things for our breakfasts, including bread, jam, butter and milk. We enjoyed exploring the Ban Chiang archaeological museum, visited a local public school to make a small donation and really appreciated seeing life in this part of rural Thailand. If you want a delightfully relaxing stay in a lovely environment away from tourists, this is it. Highly recommend.

I had to laugh at the review that said there were no rice paddies, yes there are good old Aussie eucalyptus plantations but also a picturesque countryside full of rice paddies, tapioca and sugar cane . We walked into the local village and were greeted by friendly smiles and waves. The family that runs the property were the best cooks ,very accommodating and the most genuine friendly people you could meet. We will definitely return with friends.
Thankyou so much Ten and family.

The Green gecko in Udon Thani is a wonderful place to relax. It is about forty minutes from the airport at Udon Thani and set in a very quiet rural farming area, surrounded by rubber trees, bamboo and rice fields. The staff are attentive, unobtrusive and very helpful - and whip up excellent Thai meals. The two very comfortable bedrooms (each with ensuite) look out onto a huge deck with its very private salt-water plunge pool - not quite long enough to swim laps, but certainly big enough to relax in and swim about. It is, for example, a much larger pool than the one I had at Sala on Phuket.

Room tip: Both rooms excellent

Good for people who wish to dip into Thai countryside life but not want to miss the standards of western countries. Ten and his crew are extremely helpful and do their best to fulfil your wishes to 100 percent. You will need a car to discover the Isaan from here (a good basis for trips around) and we were a bit sad to spend only 2 and a half day here. Worth at least a week ! Gecko crew cooks as you like - hot Thai food but if you do not like also for western taste.
