Pleasant Cottages Outside of Town

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 19, 2012
My wife had business in Udon Thani at a location not far from this resort. Staying here put us close to her final destination and enabled us to avoid driving in the city.

The place is just off the ring road and is built surrounding a huge, artificial fish pond. We had a pond-side cottage that was clean, cool and comfortable. Everything worked. Our meals (dinner and the free breakfast) were brought to our room so we could on the porch viewing the pond.

Be aware that there is nothing of real interesting anywhere close to this establishment: no shops, no restaurants, nothing. If you need a clean, inexpensive, pleasant place to spend a night in Udon, this is a good choice. However, if you need nearby amenities or want to see the city, you should consider staying elsewhere.
Date of stay: July 2012
Room Tip: Pick a room on the pond. They do have rooms that are set away from the water.

We spent a night there last month, beginning of low season. We were the only tourists, the place looked desert.
The bungalow was nice, modern, clean, with a roofed terrace, view on the lagoon (well, a lake).
The 2 staff we met were very helpful and smiling, they do not speak English a lot but that was enought to communicate. The manager , who speaks English, was reachable by phone if needed.

We ate there, but they did not have everything displayed on the menu and we did not get everything we ordered in advance. But we were served on our private terrace, which was far better than in the empty restaurant.

We borrowed a tandem (for free, I do not know if this is always the case) and went to discover the surroundings. There is not much to see, some small villages, no local restaurants and a few shops (beer, crisps, soap..)

Breakfast was also served on our terrace (toast, butter and jam, egg and sausage, coffee or tea), very good.

The swimming-pool is also very nice, clean.

I would recommend this place, but maybe not for more than 1 or 2 days as there is almost nothing to do there.

We were driven back to Udon Thani center for free, it takes around 20-30 minutes if I remember well.

At first we were a little bit worried going down back roads to Tanita, but then we turned into the front gate and were pleasantly surprised by the surroundings. We were greated by the owner and was taken to our bungalow by the water. It was very quiet, clean and peaceful to be in such a nice place after a day of traveling. They had a western and Thai menu for all meals, we have an extremely tasty and cheap meal delivered to our room overlooking the water.
Like other reviews we read the owner went above and beyond his hosting duties, in the morning he was kind enough to drive us to the local bank and then to the airport so we could catch a bus to the friendship bridge on the border. Once we arrived at the airport he realized that the bus/taxi company was going to rip us off so he insisted that he would drive us 1 hour to the border himself, expecting no payment.
Once we arrived at the friendship bridge he only left our side once we were through Thai immigration.

We cannot recommend Tanita and it's owner highly enough, it is number one on trip advisor for all the right reasons, it is just a shame that we could not stay longer.
And it had fast WIFI.!!!

If you are independent business or leisure traveller(s) you will like this great and exceptional quiet, peaceful and beautiful place. There is a top of the line, very clean swimming pool overlooking the large lake, places to walk, run and fish, very good wifi in your room or outside on your own private balcony overlooking the lake. Each room has television and some stations are in English, stocked fridg, aircon and hot water bath. Just give a call and your food comes or go near the office and get something to eat or drink, a film to watch. The staff is friendly, professional and the grounds are expansive and beautiful. It is a good place to practice your Thai with the staff who speak enough English to accomplish anything you need such as giving you tourist information and arranging rides to the nearby airport, Udon Thani or other places of interest. There is a place for conferences for our meetings and soon a restaurant which we imagine will have excellent food.

Room tip: We like rooms 5 to 1 since they are away from the pool but all guests were courteous so perhaps would not matter.

My wife and I have stayed here 4 times before. It keeps becoming more amazing... (Now with a swimming pool). My wife's family's farm is a 2 hour drive from here.. We had tried 3 places before we found this place 2 years ago( all were gross or basic boring places).
Here we can literally fish thru the window while on our bed.
The owner is super attentive and kind.. Wish I owned a place like this
