Udon Thani has many different markets but the biggest and busiest are the night markets near the train station, they are a full on locals markets so most of the clothes, shoes etc are small sizes.

The food section here is amazing and everything is very cheap, so we spent most of our time here eating and trying some very different types of food. The pork on a stick was delicious, so very tender and only 5 baht a stick.

Freshly made little waffle type pastries at 5baht each, we lost count of how many of these we ate.

These night markets are open every day at 5pm and close around 11pm. There is also a bar area but as of our last visit they only sold beer.

Udon Thani night markets are an absolute must see and very easy to spend quite a few hours in there.

Udon Thani being a land locked north eastern city without the nefarious history of the Golden Triangle and the well established manufacturing/trades centre that Chaing Mai has going for it is not exactly tourist central. But it is a very large Thai city and as a result you have the largest night market I have witnessed in Thailand that caters to Thais not visiting Farang.

This is an authentic Thai market on a huge scale, city blocks of it. Shopping and food and lots of both. I really enjoyed the difference between it and the more famous markets that are full of tourist crap instead of products targeting the locals.

The food court is a typical Thai food court experience dirt cheap, excellent Thai food but the market has it all. It runs from UD Town which is a collection of large chain shopping and food places with all your North American standbys like McDonalds, KFC and Starbucks catering to the more well off Thais for a couple blocks into the real Thai areas.

And since it encompasses several city blocks there are all kinds of Thai restaurants and establishments along the streets opposite the market itself.

All in all if you need it, cheap or on a Champagne budget its all at the Night Market.

Open only in the late afternoons and evenings. Everything you could possibly imagine is for sale, from pets to purses. Many local food and beverage vendors to sustain you throughout the night. Parking is a huge problem, better to go on motorbike, or take taxi/tuk tuk from your hotel. Many "night markets" around, but this is the biggest. Located near Udon train station.

plenty of choices for food, walk around and try as much as you like, all very cheap. Some shopping bargains to be had as well. Usually some music later on also.

Because Udon Thani is not a major tourist destination the market caters more towards Thai's than farangs, so rather than all the cheap knock-off's and tack souveniers the Udon Thani Night Markets have hundreds of stalls mainly selling clothes and accessories at very cheap prices. There's also a nice food court where you can choose from a score of different vendors and get a decent meal for left than 50 baht!
