Description: Everything we do in the kitchen, from using subtle textures and flavours, to seeking out the freshest local produce has the same objective: to stimulate the palate and delight the senses. Our menu which is inspired by authentic Mediterranean and Thai flavours creates a fusion of tradition and innovation, uniting yesterday and tomorrow. Our aim is to transform classic Mediterranean dishes through the use of bold, Asian inflected seasonings and unexpected flavor combinations to draw the basic essence and nuanced flavours of quality ingredients to the fore and allow them to truly shine.

A neo-Minimalist foodie temple where the local Thai chef proves that he might be one the most commanding chefs’ in town! His fried snapper highlighted with crispy garlic, his crunchy pumpkin-feta salad in a smoky bed of caramelized onion, and defiant tiramisu are all major triumphs.

Think gracious, unstarchy service and a masterful tasting - Indo-European - menu that vibrantly weds refined opulence to Asian street food dining. Outcome? Dirt cheap but equally thrilling!! Pesto delivers 5 star bang for 5 trivial bucks!

“Wonderful restaurant”
Reviewed July 11, 2011

Pesto is a wonderful restaurant and the price level is very, very reasonable. It is located a short distance outside the Laguna complex, very close to the well-known Black Cat. The menu is a blend of Mediterranean and Thai choices but having visited twice I can strongly recommend the European menu. While the restaurant itself is rather basic the food makes up for this. There is a very varied menu and main dishes are in the THB 180-250 range, extraordinary value. There is a take out option but unfortunately Pesto does not yet provide a pick-up service from the Laguna area. Service is efficient. My only suggestion would be for a wider choice of wines. At the moment Pesto serves a basic red or white by the glass. All in all a superb addition to the local restaurant scene - definitely 5 stars.

“Truly 5 star food”
Reviewed June 4, 2011

I have dined at CHU in Rawai many times. Then they moved up to the Laguna, and changed the name to "Pesto". I have been living in Thailand for 20+ years, the last 10 in Phuket. To drive 1 hour (from Kata Beach) to go and have dinner, the food must be very very good. And it was, again. The restaurant (30 chairs) is very basic. Nothing to rave about. Of course it is nice to go to a nice, romantic place (Like Sawatdee in Kata, Bella Vista in Kata, La Gaetana in Phuket town). But with the incredibly low prices, I guess thy cannot afford to rent a nice place.

“Delicious food at very inexpensive prices”
Reviewed May 15, 2011

Pesto opened in March and within two weeks became one of the most popular dining outlets in the area with both locals (Thai and expats) and tourists.

The fantastic thing about Pesto is that the Chef (Chu) is the Executive Chef from upscale Sarojin Resort in Khao Lak. He is also European trained and has worked in France for five years. He creates delicious food, presented well and charges realistic prices.

Phuket seldom offers such value for money so Pesto is a welcome addition to the many dining options we all enjoy.

Particular favourites of mine are: beef moussaka - 129 baht per plate and very tasty, the asparagus and crab meat soup - 89 baht. Chicken and fish dishes range from 129 to 199 and the beef steak is 299 and lamb chops that rival any that I have seen served at five star resorts in the area are around 349 baht. I am yet to sample the lamb and beef - but friends of mine have and they looked amazing.

Guests can also take their own wine in and are charged no corkage - so more change for a bigger tip.

I would also be honest to say that although the food has been great most times I have visited, there has been slight inconsistencies, but I think you can forgive them of this considering the price and that they are a brand new restaurant.
