On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded from a lagoon room to a Deluxe duplex and we thought - oh yeah, whatever, everybody probably has as we were there for a wedding. Well, when we entered the room we spun out! It was huge and amazing! Own private pool - yes a little cold but who cares when you can indulge in some skinny dipping whenever you want which is a good thing in the humidity. The design of the room was superb we marvelled at the straight lines and how every little detail fitted in with the overall design - felt a bit like we were on The Block! We had our own host - Chart - who was lovely. The main pool was awesome and the grounds and foyer just beautiful. Breakfast - fantastic. Cocktails - hmm, not so good - I had my Expresso Martini served in a nice glass one night but the next night my Sex On The Beach was served in a chunky clunky non elegant glass - I was not impressed. The ladies like special shaped glasses please! Yes the food/drinks are a little expensive but hey it's a 5 star resort. Not far to walk to the beach which was a bit woolly while we were there. The wedding (my partners daughter) was superb - they were going to have it on the beach but the weather was not so good so it was set up in the pagoda. The floor was sprinkled with petals, there were baskets of petals to throw, fans were handed out to the ladies and a huge arch of flowers and 2 topiary flower stands - orchids, lillies, roses - amazing! They have chairs covered in white material and music. It was beautiful. The reception was at the Catch Club - it was fantastic - the food was awesome and we had a dance arfterwards. The whole thing was great. The ladies had hair and makeup done beforehand and it was great - everyones hair was amazing. Special mention to the hairdresser who also did the brides makeup - a talented lady boy! Overall this hotel is awesome - you may just not want to leave! Regarding children - my partners son did not book to stay here as at the time there was an unwritten but strongly communicated no child policy and his child is 7 months old - that has changed and there were plenty of children here and young ones too. Yes, they are noisy in the pool - so if you choose a lagoon pool room be aware they open out onto the pool area and if noisy kids in the pool at 7am bother you - you may want to choose to book a deluxe duplex room instead which are hidden behind and not right on the pool - or even splash out on the Presidential Suite which is well behind and away from the pool. Also I am not a smoker - and this resort had plenty of smoking Aussies staying in the lagoon rooms (and you know what I mean by Aussies - G'day mate, throw a snag on the barbie and knock back a few beers style of people) - so if having neighbours like this bothers you please book a deluxe duplex room instead - which is totally private and enclosed. In general - I would prefer if this resort had no smoking in the rooms - I guess around the pool you can't stop people smoking. Be aware too this resort had 3 weddings in the 3 days we were there which means there are often groups of guests who know eachother - they then gather in eachothers room drinking/partying/talking so they can be a bit noisy.
